    Love.

The thing that makes a purchase an experience, is being around people who LOVE what they sell.

I met the owner of the store when I was searching for a specific pair of Frye boots. She was so patient as I struggled to cram my ridiculous fat feet into the boot.  Then she showed me a trick with a plastic bag to get them on easier (which came in handy when drunkingly trying to get my feet back into my boots at a party).

Anytime I can recommend this store, I do. And whenever I want another pair of boots, I'll go back here first.

Sidenote: Boots are not cheap. I selected moderate as the price range because you will pay what the boots are worth. We're talking quality, kids! But don't expect to walk out with a pair of boots and not drop a few hundred dollars.

I have an compulsive habit of finding certain clothing items and obsessing over them until I either cave in and buy it or seek professional help.

This time it was a pair of Frye boots that cost $380 and in Toronto were only sold at Bootmaster. I would call and see if they had my specific obsession in stock. They told me they didn't but they had a similar pair. I went in several times and stared and stared at them. I never bought them, I never even tried them on because I knew I wouldn't be able to leave without buying them and then I'd have to explain to my landlord why I was trying to pay my rent in air miles.

Anyway, Bootmaster has a HUGE selection of boots - frye boots are definitely their more modern and in my opinion, more stylish boots. But they also have a ton of authentic cowboy boots, which you'll discover when you walk in the store and are pummelled in the face with that beautiful smell of fresh leather. The people working there were always really helpful (on the phone or in person) and if I had the money, I would definitely give them my business.

If you want a pair of well-made, stylish and beautiful boots, I recommend you check out the Frye line they sell here (apparently they're the only
Ontario retailer).  And if you see the knee-high Veronica slouch boots, tell them I say hi.

Bootmaster is a great store for women too!

I found the perfect pair of stylish, black cowgirl boots at Bootmaster

    Here's my story:

I've been looking high and low for a new pair of cowgirl boots since my old pair just weren't cutting it any more.  It has been a four month search.  A  month ago, I got a pair online from the DSW shoe site, and I wouldn't recommend doing that to anyone else.  Unless you actually go to a store, try on the boots, write down the name of the brand, style, and remember your boot size (in that style), you will be like a fool parting with your money ordering boots online.  The same probably goes for shoes.  You see, I think whoever put those cowgirl boots up on DSW decided to do a little fudging and photoshoping to make the boots appear more tailored.  Meanwhile a smaller calved, and smaller ankled girl like myself went ahead and ordered the boots.  When they arrived, not only was I swimming in them because they were a size too big, but they were sort of greyish in colour and cheap looking.  So then I decided, maybe a shoe and boot alteration shop in Toronto could alter them to fit my calves and ankles.  I researched Shoe Therapy on Yelp, checked out their website, sent some emails back and forth, and went in last week to have my new fangled cowgirl boots altered.  It wasn't to be, because the "Master Repairer" said I would not be happy with the results.  What exactly that meant I didn't know because I had some trouble understanding him due to the language barrier.  Needless to say, I wasted my time and got my hopes up for nothing when I could have just sent the person I was corresponding with some pictures in an email.

Not to be discouraged, I thought the Liberty Boot Company in Toronto could make me a new pair of cowgirl boots based on my old cowgirl boots.  After a few emails, it was very apparent they were not interested in doing business in Toronto (even though they are based in Toronto) and would rather hock their wares online, and advertise all the celebs wearing their expensive and oversized boots (Taylor Swift for example).  If I didn't make it clear enough, I personally don't adore oversized (genuine) cowgirl boots.  I'm more into the kiss the ankles, caress the calves, sexy, leather, fashionable off the ranch boots.

So finally, in my quest to obtain the cowgirl boots I wanted before a certain date, I walked into Bootmaster on 609 Yonge Street in Toronto.  Now this store has been open in Toronto for 26 years, but the last time I walked in there I was a teenager and couldn't afford the prices.  Seeing the store again was a lovely experience.  A modern establishment with an attractive presentation of items, and smelling of rich leather.  Ladies you know that excited feeling that takes you over when you see footwear after footwear that you love in one place?  Well, that was the feeling I got.  I was served by Helen who has been at the helm for 22 yrs.  After trying on a few pairs of the boots mostly by Old Gringo (apparently that is my style) I was presented with my ultimate purchase.  These luscious pair of handcrafted boots are exactly what I was looking for, and they fit like a glove in all the right places, thus ending my quest for the perfect black cowgirl boots.

I highly recommend Bootmaster as the place for fashionable women's cowgirl boots, and for stylish men's cowboy boots in Toronto.  There is no need to go anywhere else.  The boots are not cheap ($300 and up), but look what cheap gets you?  Besides, I had a preview of what is coming in the next few weeks in the store, and ladies you have never seen any cowgirl boots like these. Ever!

i thought this was an awesome store.  you feel like everything in it is of a strong quality from the boots to the jackets to the traditional cowboy shirts.

as should be expected, their selection of cowboy boots is vast.  they have boots in leather and furthermore in that category are very detailed, bold and funky styles (that i would guess would be more for the women than men, but hey no ones judging, and who cares).  they also have a wide display of motorcycle boots, ones that go up to just below the knee and others that just rid above the ankle.

i think cowboy boots are pretty cool, and it might be one of the few things i think i couldnt pull off - or maybe theyd just be horrible for my feet, but if thats what you need this SURELY is the place.

i found their display of shirts and leather jackets were impressive as well, and with all the interest in vintage clothing, and funkier styles of shirts a good ol' cowboy shirt can fit in perfectly (as long as youre not wearing chaps).  i wish i may i wish i might but i dont ever think i could walk the streets here with a cowboy hat, though id love to get one one day and they also do well on that count (at least from a non-cowboys perspective.)

though it does seem kinda funny to see a store such as this in toronto, it is necessary and perfect and a great spot for those who have stronger ties to these types of looks.

but im sure theyve been here a billion times before.

I was born in the Prairies, while I only spent about 8 months there, I do believe that they left an indelible mark on my person.  I don't however get cowboy boots.  I don't know for what occasion they would be the better choice.  I wear sneakers most of the time and I wear dress shoes when I have to, so I don't know where the cowboy boots fit.  I do know that people do wear them and for them there is Boot Master.  It's pretty hard to miss their Yonge St. store mostly because they have a giant boot sitting outside their door.   That being said, this was my first visit inside and I was not disappointed.  The store is true to it's name.  I don't think I've ever seen so many cowboy boots in one location before and unless I move to Calgary, I probably never will again.  Boot Master is a very good store if you are looking for a good pair of cowboy boots, but if you are you, better bring your wallet because even the cheap pairs were over $200.  I would recommend Boot Master to the displaced Albertan, because I think you will feel at home inside, for the rest of us city folk I just don't think it will come up.
