The perfect spot for some vegan comfort food! If you're vegan, vegetarian or a meat lover, there's something tasty for everyone on the menu.  I highly recommend getting the dinner for two platter. It's more than enough for two people giving you a burger of your choice, a big salad, a big bowl of soup and oven baked sesame fries with gravy. Be sure to try out their soft serve or shakes, too.

All around a great concept and a great business run by great people! They think local, support local farmers and use organic as much as possible.  Treat yourself! You won't regret it!

Boon Burger is another restaurant I'd been excited to visit in Winnipeg. I love the amount of vegan/vegetarian establishments this city has to offer!

I decided to go with the Thanksgiving burger with a poutine on the side. The poutine was covered in delicious Daiya and wonderful gravy. I hadn't really thought about how the fries would be cooked. They were baked which was both weird and kind of awesome and no - not bagged McCain style fries, actual cut up slices of potato. No stomach ache after THAT poutine.

The burger was okaaaaay. Had I not tried my friend's burger I probably would have given Boon 3 stars. The white patty (I guess it was supposed to be imitation turkey style?) was completely flavourless. The bun, cranberry sauce, and "mayo" were fine though.

I really wish I had ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger because damn, that was a tasty bite of burger. Such a tasty bite that it earned Boon's another star!

I've made better vegetarian burgers at home.
The burger completely fell apart, I had to eat it with a fork and knife, the fries were good but completely over oiled, and the drink was definately over-priced.
You can tell it's all good quality ingredients but I think the recipes need some tweaking. I will definately try this place again to see if my experience was just an accident!!

Boon Burger is the BEST place for vegan eats in Winnipeg, and I won't hear you tell me anything otherwise! I have delicious dreams about those burgers.. Boon, why won't you deliver to me in Toronto?

During a visit to Winnipeg with my gluten-sensitive mister, we went to Boon a few times, and I tried something different each time - I wish I could have tried *everything*, though! I'm not normally one to complain about my own anatomy, but my stomach could have helped me out by tripling in size at least. Sigh.

Boon are super helpful when it comes to food sensitivities like gluten and soy (in addition to already being meat/egg/dairy-free being a vegan establishment), which is super awesome. My mister was able to have burgers with GF patties and buns, and despite the changeable quality of the buns visit-to-visit, he reports it was great.

Fries as a side are super, although a *little* dry - you can get them poutine-style with the vegan cheese Daiya though, and that rocks. Each burger comes on a lovely soft square bun and is CHOCK full of toppings. I remember trying the Baja burger which was a wonderful mix of tropical flavours, and the Thanksgiving burger which was a very inspired mix of flavours that worked very well - it could've been overwhelming, but it was just right.

Make sure to leave room for a vegan soft serve, too - GF cones available! I believe the flavours rotate, but we got chocolate and it's so creamy and delicious, better than any other soft serve i've had. Vegan soft serve!! Winnipeg, you don't know how lucky you are.

Practical points - some on-street parking, clean washroom, plenty of table space (for a small cafe) and some outside seating, very easy to understand menus (and helpful counter staff), plus the adorable way of marking your table number with toy animals!

Boon Burger, I heart you. I can't wait til you get in my belly again!

Back again to vote with our money.  This time on a very tasty Tex Mex burger on a dinner platter with fries, salad and a very tasty pumpkin Curry soup.  Add to that and you have a lovely light diner for two (sorry more food then I can eat) All this topped of with a tasty blueberry tea came to just over $20.  We enjoyed sharing all the great food and will be back soon.

Excellent options for those wanting a plant-based burger instead of the standard beef or chicken. All of their options (I've had nearly every single one) are incredibly tasty and quite satisfying. Not your typical cardboard gardenburger.

The staff are pleasant and helpful, and the crowd is varied. From affluent professional to eclectic artists to young troublemakers... but the atmosphere is always welcoming. They have typical tables & chairs outside and in, but the majority of the indoor seating is two large community tables with benches. (Very nice touch, nostalgic of the "Common Ground" theme of the previous restaurant at the same location)

Overall great. I'd recommend it to anyone, not just those on a plant-based diet.

Hooray for an all-vegan burger joint!  I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Boon!  I've never had a meal I didn't love (and it's great to be able to enjoy such healthy, cruelty-free food).  The Thanksgiving burger is my favourite, but their new Boon Dogs are equally amazing - best veggie dog I've ever had!  Their soups are always fantastic and their coconut milk softserve and shakes are soooo good!  I basically just love everything about this place - friendly service, compassionate/cruelty-free restaurant, cute and cozy atmosphere!  Oh yes, and pick up a bottle of their signature salad dressing...I don't know what's in it, but it blows my mind!  A+++++++++ to Boon Burger!

A great place to enjoy good burgers. Very pricey, but at least it's filling.  They chintz out in the daiya cheese, but otherwise? Do come here!

Be sure to order for takeout as the seating is limited and very uncomfortable.

I'd like to see lower prices, but it's not a total deal breaker.

Good vegan burgers and eats in general, but nothing exceptional....fairly overpriced as well given the niche market
I thought it was good, but not impressive

Okay, review UPGRADE! I went back for more and I have to say it's definitely a fab place! Everything is great! They've been very busy since they first opened especially during peak hours. I know they've had to shut down early on a few days just to keep up with the prep and hire/train new staff. So knowing that, I'm amazed at the quality of food they've put out in all my visits.

The burgers are soooo loaded up with flavour that you will forget that that there's no meat in it! My fav is still the "Euro Cheese Burger" ($6.75) but I also liked the "Salsa Burger" ($7.25). The salsa burger is a grilled mushroom patty with avocado, salsa, swiss cheese , red onion and lettuce. Delicious!

The "Greek Burger" ($7.25) has a breaded patty; it has olive tapenade, which isn't my fav so the burger has a stronger olive taste than I'd like but it's still good with feta, red onion, lettuce and cucumbers. The "Thanksgiving Burger" ($7.50) has what seems to be a breaded rice patty mixture with yams, cranberry sauce, gravy, and crispy onion  - a delicious themed burger!

I'll have to retract what I wrote before about their limp fries (they're still a very new and super busy joint so minor things can be forgiven). The baked sesame fries were superb this time - I don't even care that they weren't fried! The vegan gravy is delicious and well seasoned and the poutine ($4.50 small) is absolutely delicious! Yes, it's vegan friendly - with vegan cheese, vegan gravy and some chives on it. It's yummy and I don't feel so guilty eating it since it's not deep fried.

The soup (which changes daily) is also amazing! I don't normally like peas or anytime of bean soup but the "green pea" soup today was absolutely AMAZING! I loved it. It wasn't very thick but there are plenty of green peas, there's this great balance of flavours in there - I'd go back just to have their soups!

The salad is a mixed green salad with a very nice garlicky dressing.

I'd suggest getting the "supper platter" for $13.95 - it's a great deal where you can try a lot of things and can be a light meal to share with another person.  It includes one burger of your choice, salad, side of fries w/ gravy and a soup.

    Their new hours are:

Finally got a chance to visit this place this week. I enjoyed it! My dining companion was a fellow first-timer, and we were both pleased with our burgers (the greek one and the euro). We also had the Boon burger, which was amazing with its perfectly carmelized onions!

I am gluten-intolerant, so I had mine with a gluten-free bun, which was satisfactory and, unusually for a GF baked good, sturdier than the regular wheat bun!

Our fries were kind of disappointing -- they were pretty limp. Still tasty to eat, though, and yummy with the variety of hot sauces Boon has on the tables.

The decor and atmosphere inside this tiny restaurant is cozy and wonderful -- if you like cozy. People who don't like the idea of sitting on a bench next to a stranger should opt for the take-out instead!

    OH MAH GAH!!!

First, lemme just say, I've tried A LOT of veggie burgers in my time but the Salsa Burger at Boon Burger is by far the most amazing thing I've ever experienced... even my omnivore mom agreed. If I remember correctly the salsa burger is comprised mostly of rice and sauteed mushrooms and was pretty messy.. but really who cares when it's that good?

The place was really busy when we dropped in (I'm assuming this is due to the fact that they literally just opened for business) and we waited about 1/2 hour for the food but I feel like everyone did the best they could and were extremely courteous.

We decided to share a large order of sesame fries that were delicious alone or dipped in some sweet chili sauce. To drink I had the organic iced tea and mom had the organic, fair-trade coffee (she really wanted to try the fruit lasse but they were sold out, boo!) that we both enjoyed.

I'm probably the least sociable person around but I didn't mind the communal tables (though it would've been nice to sit at one of the 3 outdoor tables).

I can't wait to go back because I'm dying to try the vegan poutine... oh gawd how I miss poutine!

Boon has a Bike Thru, now how cool is that!!

Their burgers are simply amazing! Regardless if you are an omnivore or vegetarian you will be impressed. The fries are so yummy I forget they are baked (nit fried). The sesame on the fries adds a very nice subtle flavor.

They now offer delivery (via bicycle - again, how great!) within a limited area.

An all-vegan burger place in the middle of Canada? Are you serious? Everything is homemade and tastes AMAZING. Get the Euro Burger and some ice cream.

I loved this place. I went five minutes before they closed, and I felt so bad for doing it. But coming all the way from the Southern US and just passing through going to Banff and Jasper National Parks, I figured I'd try to get a couple of burgers to go. They seemed OK with it. My burgers were a bit cold, but that's what I get for going so late. They were still delicious, and I warmed them up once I got back to the hotel.

This place is nicely designed and decorated. If I had had the time, I would have gone back again and again.

WOW! This place is truly amazing! I was craving a good juicy burger while visiting the 'Peg and was convinced to try out Boon instead of a number of yummy burger joints in the city. Not only was the burger delightful the poutine with all vegan toppings was to DIE FOR!!!!! (the 'cheese' had a light and fluffy texture... I should have asked what it was made out of since there are no animal products aloud here and the gravy was so flavorful it was almost good enough to lick the plate!!). Honestly I would drive from e-town just for the poutine!  I was told the fries are baked as well, which they definitely tasted like fried goodness; so if they were baked that makes it even more enticing to return!! The burgers are big enough for two people to share, which we did. Seating is communal and very limited; so take out is recommended on busier days! They have iced tea that is made from real loose leaf tea (no powder junk here). Every single burger that I saw looked amazing! Prices are really good!
I HIGHLY recommend taking a trip to Boon Burger if you're in the 'Peg and have a hankering for a burger, even your meat loving peers likely will fall in love with the juicy, flavorful, deliciousness of the veggie burgers here!!! Oh soooooo good!!!!!

Yum! I had the Buddha burger for lunch with sesame potatoes fries and a   strawberry-banana lassi...wow! I can't believe the fries were baked they were so delicious and the subtle curry flavor in the chick pea burger patty was just right! The lassi was really tasty and really filling. The portions are   enormous so go hungry!

I saw this place on yelp and had to try it so I walked almost 2 miles from my downtown hotel. Was it worth it? Well, it was a great workout...The food at Boon is good, but not as good as I had expected. If you have a car, GO; but if you have to walk...pass!

I ordered the buddha burger which is a curried chickpea patty, mayo, creamy cucumber sauce, peach chutney, sliced cucumber, tomato, red onion & lettuce for $7.25 and sesame-potato fires for $3.

The burger is messy to eat and falls apart easily. It tastes good, but not as good as I had expected. I was expecting the curried chickpea patty to have a little kick and burst with spices and flavor. Not the case...thank goodness for the Indonesian chili sauce on the table to help out!

The fries are really good. Sliced potatoes, sprinkled with sesame seeds, salt, pepper (and I think garlic), drizzled with olive oil and baked in the oven to perfection!

If I were in the area, I might go back...but there's tons of vegetarian food in Winnipeg, so I'll probably explore other places before I return.
