Review from Brian S.
Prequel: Sad to Here This Business is Closing.
Book Warehouse was not your basic discount book store. They had a knack of picking books that may not have sold well but are worth reading. They always have/had a selection of one year old travel books that are great bargains to take and use on your vacation.
They have/had a good Fiction Section, I bought a few of my Murakami novel's there. What I liked most about this store and will miss most about it Is that it was open late and it/was a great place to walk to and browse and get something to read. Places like Book Warehouse keep people in the streets and neighbourhoods Vibrant and Safe and they are missed when they are gone. -

Sadly, it's going out of business, and nothing much is left! But "survival of the fittest" as they say, and more often than not, I have been disappointed with Book Warehouse over the years. Still, I like to go in and browse, and I usually leave with a small purchase (although admittedly, it is not always a book!)
I was there recently and didn't see too much. Some of the greeting cards that were left were quite cute if you are a sentimental card person.
The cashier on the "right" was so helpful and nice. Some people are naturally warm, and I was surprised at how informative she was. I wish that I had asked for her name. She even offered to bring in a book for me that she said staff was permitted to "borrow" before selling. I guess that's one benefit of working at a discount book store?
The older cashier on the left was quite rude and short with me when I asked her any questions. Honestly, I would never go in there again if I had only dealt with this lady. If she is like this with everyone, then I could see why this place is shutting down, even though I'm certain that was not the case. I wonder how such people can be in customer service? Baffling.
Three stars only for the cashier on the right! Go check it out for yourself before it's too late.Listed in: Shopping: A Girl's Favourite…

Review from Catherine W.

So the other day my doctor recommended a book that normally I would have to order online as it's not usually available in a book store. However, I decided to try this place out as it was right across the street. I was pleasantly surprised as they had EXACTLY what I was looking for.
The staff were polite overall if a little bit slow but that wasn't an issue for me that day. I was in the wandering mood and not in a rush to skytrain back home.
What I really liked was that the store was well organized and it was super easy to find what I was looking for. The prices didn't hurt my wallet either. Saved about $5 on the purchase price. I like me some savings :)!
The only downside was that I wasn't able to locate some mindfulness books that included the CDs for meditation. I am more of an auditory person when it comes to these things and am still on the hunt for this.
I will definitely be back to look for more books I need/want. -

Never had the chance to actually enter this store till now, and I was surprised at the selection. The place does not look that big on the outside, and when you think of the word "Warehouse" you think of outdated, old books, and nothing near new. Well, take that thought out of your skull, this place has some new stuff, and pretty current. I came in here just to take a stroll around the neighborhood, and was stuck in here for a good 30 minutes thinking of what to buy, I did leave with a travel book, this year's edition of New York, for a good friend.
The people in this store are helpful, and the selection is nicely catagorized and spread out. Expect to pay 20% less for newer titles, and much more for older ones. Always out for a good bargain, and next time even if you are not in store to buy anything, take a walk in, you will waste some good time. -

I love that this place has a decent selection of everything, the staff are quite knowledgable about the selection in the store. I was randomly looking around and I happened to find #3,4 & 5 for a set of manga I never had the time to finish collecting. (for $3/piece!) Manga's are usually more like $20+/book.
GIve this place a shot before you wander over to Chapters! -

Buy your books here, if you can find them. That is, the books are cheaper than at say Chapters/Indigo, but the selection is small.
They do have a great section of greeting cards that outdoes its big name nemesis and I would check the place out for mainly this. -

This book store is awesome! The prices are a few dollars cheaper than what you'd pay at Chapters and other bookstores, which is a great deal. The selection isn't as large as Chapters, but it's pretty great for a smaller book store. It reminds me a lot of the used book stores in the United States, but the books are in much better condition.
The store organization is great. It's really easy to find the section you're looking for. If you're having problems finding something, the staff are really friendly and more than willing to help. -

I loves me a good cheap hardcover book...I mean who really wants to pay like $35 for a hardcover somewhere else...you only read it once..maybe twice..and paperbacks just aren't the same..they're all flimsy and papery..they look terrible in a book shelf..you know?
Book Warehouse has all the latest releases in fiction and non-fiction, a great assortment of coffee table books, cook books and so on....all a discount prices! For example..a certain book I was looking at in Chapters for $16.99, was available at Book Warhouse for $9.99..
The service is hit and miss but I usually get some help when I need it... -

Great prices on new books, and on what I think is an impressive variety and selection for a smaller store. I particularly appreciate the great deals on Penguin classics, but there is something for everyone here! It's easy to spend an hour or more once you walk in--great place to find bargains! This is my first stop when I'm looking for a specific book, or just need to treat myself! I've always had friendly service, too.

It's always great when you get a deal on a book. Decent selection of the newest books, especially in hardcover. Staff is always polite and willing to special order your request if they don't have it in stock.

stopped in today to pick up a couple books....
i had a list of maybe 5 or 6...only found 2 here.
i love the prices...you get the exact same thing for a much better deal. what would have cost me about $45... ended up being about $35 from here. pretty sweet if you ask me!
the staff here has always been happy and pleasant, very fitting for the area we live in. all the sections are labeled very easily, you CAN'T get lost in there...unless you are blind, then yes-you may need some help (but i didn't notice any braille books.....hmm..ok, bad joke).
they always throw in a couple free bookmarks when i buy books from here too!
the ONLY thing is since its a smaller store...the selection isn't anything near chapters... but thats fine with me. probably better cuz i would probably end up spending $100 if i found everything i wanted.Listed in: retail stores
