Who doesn't love books - at a discount? Book Warehouse's discount system may be a little tough to get your head around at first, but generally, new books are all 20% off cover price. The other stock is a remainder of publisher's overruns and "slightly damaged" books, which generally go for 50% or better, depending on the deal struck with the book distributor. So, I can pick up new books on the cheap, as well as find those crazy little books spit out by publishing's wood chipper on BW's bargain table.
Despite the name, Book Warehouse offers a pleasant shopping experience with CBC 2 playing in the background, and non-intrusive staff. They're nice small stores where I can happily fill an hour browsing, reading, and saving myself a few bucks on books, all while supporting a local business. -
