VIBE
Book-ish. Lots of browsers buried in the latest tome. Even though this is a stand-up only store, this location is condusive to wanting to browse around for hours. The music is never overpowering as well. Very friendly yet unobtrusive staff. Probably my favourite bookstore in the city because I've been going here for so long.
TO BUY
They have a great selection of fiction, travel and children's books. I'm also a big fan of their calendars and selection of notebooks/notecards. (RIP Pulp).
That said, I wish they brought back their astrology selection. I miss it!
OBLIGATORY CATCHY REMARK
If you're a book worm, this is your city. Oh, I'm so awful at the punnage. -

This bookstore has a wonderful children's section. The aisles are very small, but full of many surprises.
In recent months I have been searching for some of our family favourites to share with friends who have a young child. We spent many happy hours reading these books with our son (and still do) and want to share these special memories. I was pleased to find almost all of these treasures hidden in the crammed book shelves. One of the staff spent a great deal of time trying to locate a paricular book, long since out of print. Although we were not successful, I appreciate her efforts.
If you are looking for a smaller-type bookstore, full of fabulous children's treasures, this is the place to go. -

I love my local bookshop! Book City is a wonderful store nestled in Carrot Common on the Danforth. The store is surprisingly spacious and (of course) is crammed full of books.
You can still move around and there are several "aisles", so you are never stranded behind other shoppers who are browsing. On the flip side, it's not so big that you get lost looking for a certain book. It's just the right size for a quick browse on the Saturday stroll along the Danforth.
Pricing: Book City often has sales, bargain tables and 10-20 per cent off bestseller prices. Highly recommended.
