Did you know that rhubarb was back in season? Bonne Cuisine is taking advantage. As I popped down to the lower levels of Spring Garden Place, I was reminded once again of the awesome little eatery known as Bonne Cuisine.

This place is fused with homemade delights. Appropriately divided into separate food bars, customers can line up for café style eats + bevies; food meal deals, and/ or specialty treats. It has its own little atmosphere and does not feel like the typical mall meal. With a little corner nook with homey decor and fine china dishes, there is something unique about Bonne Cuisine.

The café offers a heavy dose of specialty coffees, treats, sammis and paninis. I've tried the bisscoti and muffins here- both just like mom used to make. The full meal section is filled with buffet style offerings. From pasta salads to chicken and veggie dishes, it seems to vary daily and always appears fresh.

The true star-- at least in my recent trip-- was the specialty sweets section. Bonne Cuisine has taken advantage of one of my favourite seasonal flavors: the rhubarb. Muffins, pie, breads and snickity-snacks- I am lost in an overdose of lust. I had not dropped down for more than a tea; however, after checking it out, I had no choice but to take home a piece of pie.

I often forget this place exists, but its definitely a goodie. Not even close to measly mall standards, Bonne Cuisine is fresh and delicious, and right downtown!

When I worked downtown, Bonne Cuisine was my default go-to place for lunch. They always had something fresh, hot and healthy, and they continue to do so. They also offer yummy comfort food dishes - meat and potatoes, pastas and foods that are filling and satisfying. Prices are pretty good, although it will cost a little more than a typical fast-food lunch.

The other bonus is that there is almost always seating available in the little food court, so you can stay in and enjoy lunch away from your desk - if you can spare the half-hour.
