Boy oh boy, does Bonanza Western Grill remind me of my childhood or what? I've had nothing but good experiences here, not only with the food but also with the service.
Bonanza is known for their buffet, well that's what this place is. You'll be seated at a banquet or table and drink order taken. Then, it's free grazing at the buffet. Not only does their buffet offer just about everything you can imaging - ham, roast beef, chicken, pizza, perogies, potatoes (mashed and fried), pasta, and all the side dishes - but they also have a fabulous salad bar. Everything here is fresh from different kinds of lettuce, spinach, raw veggies, marinated salads, dressings, coleslaw, to your standard salad toppings like dressings, croutons, etc.
OK, here comes to good part (well, it's all good actually) they have a taco station! How cool is that! Tacos, fajitas, soft tacos and all the fixings. Then of course there's the dessert bar...ice cream machine, jello, warm crisps, fruits and the toppings.
The prices are very decent considering what's offered and I don't know anyone who goes here that doesn't leave feeling absolutely stuffed to the gill. Hey, you gotta get your moneys worth. -

Will never go back. Its pretty dissapointing when your plate is only 1/4 full and your trying to look around to find the rest of the food... arent buffets supposed to have variety?.... this one has none. Very little selection.
My husband only had one plate as it was so terrible; his sausage was hard and cold, his potatoes were also cold. My noodles were cold and had been sitting out probably all day as they were hard. Wonton soup had so much pepper in it I choked. The best tasting item was the mini corns, but thats pretty hard to screw up as they come from a can.
We only stayed 20 minutes and my husband puked outside of the restraunt. We got home and had to go back because the waitress didnt give my ID back. Service was poor, I ordered water and got coke.
Ive been to Pacific Buffet/Bonanza on Gateway and it was awesome! They had everything from mussels to sushi and had a lounge with big screen TVs. Thought this would be the same but must have different owners. -

I went here, because I remember how bad this place was as a kid. You know, that giant salad bar and the endless macaroni salads and weird creamy things with coloured marshmallows in them. It probably doesn't make any sense that I'd want to go here if it's so bad, but it's just one of those weird nostalgic things, and I thought it would be quite the adventure.
I ended up being completely disappointed with my lack of disappointment. When I was walked in, I was shocked at how different Bonanza now looks. The decor was very modern and trendy, with dark hardwood floors and an unfinished ceiling. I kind of felt like I was in a nightclub, so it wasn't the coziest atmosphere.
The buffet, which was now a full buffet, was rather impressive. There were some delicious-looking soups, and a decent salad bar. The main buffet included things like French fries, perogies, pizza, roasted potatoes, and mashed potatoes. There were also several Asian dishes like spring rolls, ginger beef, and fried rice. To top it off, there was also a meat station, where a chef will cut off a piece of meat for you from a Cornish hen, sausage, or roast beef. Most of the food tasted pretty good too.
The dessert bar was kind of blah, but then I noticed that Bonanza still had a soft serve ice cream machine, where you can make your own sundaes with sprinkles and chocolate sauce and all!! It was so good; I had to go back twice for this. I also noticed that there was a section where you can make your own tacos, but I was way too full by this time to try it out.
The buffet cost $17, which is a tad steep in my books. But I'd still say that Bonanza has definitely improved, and I may come back someday. -

I must say Bonanza has a great buffet and a great atmosphere.
They buffet had a huge selection with great variety. I had the perogies, spring rolls and ribs and they were so good. It's rare to find really good buffets these days so I was really impressed because Bonanza exceeded my expectations. The price was good too, about $16.
If you want a GOOD buffet go to Bonanza you won't be disappointed!! -

I used to really enjoy Bonanza of yesteryear when you ordered your main course and then enjoyed the giant salad bar.
That's not how it is now. It is all buffet style and the choices are pretty minimal for a buffet restaurant. The cost for dinner was $21 and I do not at all feel I got my money's worth.
It was alright but I won't go out of my way to go back.
It's rare I go to buffet restaurants but I would go to the Royal Fork before going to Bonanza again. -

Excellent food and very reasonably priced. Seemed a little more upscale than I remember from years ago. Staff were very helpful and quick.

We are 40+ customers and will not go here again. Salad bar had fresh lettuce, the feature! The stuff in the salad bar was nothing that I would put on except for dressing and baco bits. It is NOTHING like the old bonanza salad. Prime beef was okay and probably only thing I could eat with the good mashed potatoes and fries. Get the picture? It was not tasty food! OH the screaming kids everywhere. I had to move to one section to get away from one table away from noisy toddlers. I have a grandchild and had kids but I don't want to hear screaming kids on a Friday dinner. THe waitress and hostess were pretty hot. SO, I had a 2 for 1 coupon and glad or I would have gone postal. 20 dollars to eat here. Me thinks not! However, I put 40 year old +, because My son who is 22 loved it there and he obviously sees this place as great, as well as the 55+ old woman who ate the buffet the whole time. Ripped off :(
