Unbelievable Meat Market, they have an amazing selection of amazing meats. They have a cooked/deli section and raw meat section. I got a brisket here and that bad boy was AMAZING!

I second the two older reviews. 'This IS an important place to know about', and 'HELL YA'. I toss the five star at Old Fashioned down on Cleveland crescent, and Jan's on Crowchild gets another four star, but Bon-Ton has good hours and the sausage/cured/smoked selection isn't confined to Polish-based tastes. Trust me, and good times.

This is an important place to know about.
This shop has been in business in Calgary for many many years and is a Calgary institution. This "new" location (they have been here for a few years now, is large bright and clean. It is the one of the few places in the city that I will buy meat from. The front counter is filled with classic and fresh cuts of the more common beef, pork and chicken, but literally any special requests can be handled by the team of expert meat cutters always working hard on customers special orders of cubed this, butterflied that and whatever those special recipes call for.
The products are all from Southern Alberta and are typically raised in a bit less industrialized environments than the mass feed lots and enormous abattoirs that produce the product for half of North America (not naming any names) but the product here is different and you can taste it. The product is simply superior to what you get at any supermarket chain, and the service is great on top of that.
There is also duck , bison, veal including osso bucco in the freezers. Fresh free range turkeys should be ordered in advance for those turkey holidays to avoid disappointment.
This is well run business of the old school, and being located in the Stadium shopping centre that now also has Billingsgate seafood and a Cobs bakery, it makes for a convenient shopping stop. Add a green grocer and we're set.
Oh yeah! I forgot to mention Bon Ton Meat Pies !!! -

Damn! I've been going to shops in the surrounding area for years, but always failed to notice the giant butcher shop that's right there. I couldn't believe that after all this time I hadn't been in before, but I was glad when I finally discovered it.
For some reason my regular grocery store was all out of chorizo and other spicy sausages. How can you make Jambalaya without spicy sausage? I thought all hope was gone for me until I drove by Bon Ton. Questioning whether or not it was new I casually strolled in.
The second the smell of all the combinations of meat they have filled my nose. I think I may have started salivating a bit. It smelled so delicious that I wanted to buy more than my sausage. I was strong, though, and immediately asked about chorizo. They didn't sell chorizo, but the delightful butcher guy pointed me in the direction of some spicy chili sausage instead.
We talked for a few minutes about all the different things they do in this place (and that they'd been around for about 16 years). They have a very wide range meat; some poultry, a little fish, but mostly different cuts and styles of beef. The have prepared meat for you so all you have to do is cook and serve. Oh boy, did some of that look delicious! They also have fresh salads like Greek, potato, broccoli, pasta and shrimp. I was amazed at the selection in this place.
I also found out that all their sausages and meat blends are gluten-free. They use a soy-base instead of a wheat one. I just thought that was a somewhat interesting little tid bit.
So, am I happy about my newly discovered meat shop? Definitely! Will I be going back when I need some good, fresh meat? HELL YA! Now, all that's left is to slap myself for not having gone here sooner... owh!
