I enjoyed my visit to Bombay Bhel and they have won us over by their service. The food is fresh and hot.
My party ordered Butter Chicken, Tandori Chicken, Biriyani & Paneer.
Wholesome choices which came with orders of fresh and hot Naan.
I found the service to be great and even had the manager come on over for a quick chat to check on us to make sure everything was good.
The dining area is clean compared to other indian restaurants in that particular area of Richmond Hill.
They also have a pick up discount when you order through the website.
I have been back twice since my first visit and the service and food has kept up to standards since the first visit. -

vindaloo chicken was pretty tasty, although a bit too salty instead of spicy. The eggplant dish was delicious too.
I liked the roti better the nun, and the mango lassi was nice and thick.
The place wasn't busy at ask for lunch on the weekend, and the service was pretty fast.
I wouldn't mind going back there sometimes. -

Bombay Bhel is a pretty difficult place to review. Compared to other Indian restaurants, I find that most of their food is on par, just like what Rafi N. says below. I would like to point out that their samosas are much better than your average Indian restaurant variety.
The decor is nice but dated. The service is OK if unspectacular. The interior is clean enough, and the food is delicious, but not more so than other Indian restaurants. I admit, because I'm not exactly the ultimate authority on Indian food, slight differences in the food quality between one restaurant and the next may not seem obvious to me. Thus, I find their food overall to be fresh and delicious, but then that's how I sort of expected a relatively good Indian restaurant to be.
The main problem is the price. It is WAY WAY overpriced, even more so than the lovely Ambiyan at Unionville. That an Indian restaurant in a nondescript box plaza charges around 3 dollars more per dish than one located in quaint (and presumably CRAZY high rent) Unionville is nothing short of criminally shocking. Rafi N. was lucky to get around $10 for his butter chicken. When we came, the butter chicken was priced pretty much around $14, and ditto the chicken tikka masala. Delicious, but horribly overpriced.
Our bill came to $35, and we did not order any desserts or additional roti. We didn't even order drinks. It was just the two dishes (which came with a nan/rice each) and ONE samosa.
PS: Something else that irked me, having studied marketing, is that they DO NOT have the name of their restaurant on their take-out brochures. Seriously, come check it out yourself (unless they've read this review and are vigorously re-printing new ones). HOW. IS. THAT. POSSIBLE. -

Compared to other Indian restaurants, Bombay Bhel's food is at most on par. The service really needs improvement.
*** FOOD ***
I ordered from the very small lunch special menu. I had the butter chicken with rice and salad. I got some naan on the side.
* Butter Chicken *
It's your standard butter chicken. Cubes of chicken cooked in a sweet creamy tomato based sauce. There is some spiciness to the sauce, but I think it could have used more spice and heat. The chicken comes drenched in sauce, which usually happens but I think there should be a better balance. They don't give a lot of rice, so the naan helps to eat up the remaining sauce. The salad was a joke. There are a couple pieces of cucumber and a piece of tomato with some iceberg lettuce and a few thin slices of red lettuce. There is no dressing for the salad, so I mixed it with the butter chicken sauce.
*** APPEARANCE ***
Bombay Bhel has a nice Indian decor. The doorways are arched in a traditional Indian architecture style. The walls have artwork and the restaurant is clean.
*** SERVICE ***
Upon entering, no one was there to greet us. We waited around for a couple minutes until someone seated us. The restaurant was relatively empty, so I don't think the staff were busy, especially for a lunch hour. When I came in, there was no lunch special advertising and the waitress gave us a regular menu. I had to ask if there was a lunch special for her to give us the lunch special menu. After ordering, the food took a while to come. I had to wait a few minutes extra for the butter chicken even though one of my coworkers got their butter chicken. One of the employees who was not in uniform asked me if I wanted to place an order, to which I responded that I had already placed an order. There seems to be a problem with how the staff is organized. Service needs to be revamped.
*** PRICE ***
The price is too high! The amount of butter chicken is a lot smaller than other restaurants. The cost of naan is really high for what amounts to baked dough.
Butter Chicken: $10.75
Naan: $1.79
*** NIRVANA ***
Bombay Bhel has a lot of potential but it lacks service and authenticity. Service has to be quick and well organized especially at lunch hour. It seems like they tone down their food for the general public. I can understand this, but at least have an option for real Indian food. To be fair, an authentic Indian restaurant would have been called Mumbai Bhel.Listed in: Curry Favor

Run of the mill indian food. Vindaloo was really vinegary and didn't tasete to me like vindaloo. Had a nice flavor but defintely nothing special. The rice tasted like it was made with laundry water. Just nas-T.
Avoid this place, drive downtown and go to Motimahal. -

I was SO thrilled that they opened up this location - I used to get to the Brampton location every now and again and it wasn't often enough!
Their food here is SO good - SO fresh - all their curries are served in little copper pots and piping hot. Their northern style curries are amazing. Try the butter chicken if you're a beginner or for more adventurous who like spicey - definitely go for the vindaloo.Listed in: Eat Your Way Through Toronto

Visiting from New Jersey and family and friends in the GTA suggested I eat there.
It's a very nice atmosphere, there were traditional Indian pieces all over, and the Indian music playing was loud enough to be heard clearly, but quiet enough to not drown out conversation.
As soon as i walked in, I was being waited on. The staff ensured we were never left for more than 5 minutes without being asked if we needed anything.
Upon ordering our meals, the waiter made suggestions on what to order to ensure we had the optimal dining experience. I had the Beef Vindaloo, which was spicy, but not too much to take away from the meal. Between sharing an appetizer platter and my vindaloo, I still could not finish it. I'm going to enjoy that and garlic nann for dinner tonight.
The next time I come back, I will definitely visit again. -

In the Toronto area for business and this place is a pleasant surprise as it is right across the way from my hotel. The food was very tasty and fresh and the prices were reasonable. The service was solid.
My only complaint is that the portions were quite small. Was there with 2 co-workers and we each ordered an item to share with the group. Before we knew it we were pretty much out of everything and no one could really go back for more- oh well, not that big of a deal. -

Great food. I eat here every time I'm in the GTA (about once a month). Mango Lassi is so good!

Best indian food in Thornhill!
We eat here at least once a week via takout. In fact we go here so much that they know us by our phone number when we order. My favourite dish is their Chicken Tikka Massala.
The food is well priced and tasty, the service is friendly and quick and the quality is great.
I highly recommend this place. -

Delicious! My mouth salivates for their Butter Chicken as I write this review. Excellent food and good value for price. Great service for both eat-in and take-out options. I highly recommend!
