LOVE this place. The food is fantastic!! They have gluten-free and soy-free options! I definitely would love to go back. Way better than Chipotle. GREAT prices. Great food quality for what you get. Great fast option for food allergies ;) Mexican food that is safe? I never can find this.

I got an original bowl with a whole bunch of fixings and was very happy. Thanks to my brother for the delicious lunch! They did mess up my order though (and gave me chicken instead of the grass-fed steak), but it's forgivable. I wasn't going to have them make me a whole new bowl when mine was perfectly fine except that they subbed chicken for beef. I never got the story on this (I used the restroom as our orders came out), but I just assume it was a mix up.

    GO here, go to Boloco!

Great place for lunch, always fresh ingredients, and great variety of choices- you can even make your own.  Some of my favorites include the teriyaki with steak, the Memphis barbecue with carnitas, and lately I've been all about the spicy BLT.  That's right, a BLT from boloco, and this thing is seriously amazing.  People who think this is just a burrito place are very wrong.

By the way, if you sign up at http://thelevelup.com and use promo code 125686, you get $2 off here plus a free $5 off at any restaurant on thelevelup.

Perfect breakfast or lunch spot for anyone working in the financial district. Food is consistently great - my favorites are the Truck Stop breakfast burrito and the Classic Mexican burrito at lunch - and the service is always very quick. Staff is top notch, unfailingly courteous and friendly. Best chocolate chip cookies in Boston.

The staff here are among the best in the financial district. I feel good about supporting this business. Almost everything they do -- from environmental initiatives to support of local events -- makes me want to spend more of my money here. The staff all seem genuinely happy, which makes me think it's not a crummy place to work.

Everyone loves the teriyaki and the Bangkok thai, but I count the Yucatan Habanero as my favourite. Also, semi-hidden burrito is the Mediterranean, which is on the salads menu but you can get as a rice burrito. The black bean hummus gets an A+.

You know what's good about the burittos from this place?  They are well-wrapped: You can actually EAT them!  Know what I mean?  Yah well, check out my review for "Herrera's" and you'll see what I mean!!!  They make the burritos here and wrap them up so perfectly tight in tin foil that it makes them a solid sandwich that is easy to eat.  THIS is how it should be, folks!  Their little lunch-boxes have chips and salsa which are fresh and compliment the sandwich/burrito.  I had a terriyaki beef burrito (Does that even make sense!?!) and it was all right.  I wasn't too impressed with the flavors, but the meat was perfectly lean: no unchewable bits of fat here!  And the sandwich was so perfectly formed that I could easily eat it without spilling anything.  You just kinda unwrap the foil as you go.  No mess.  I recommend it!

Great for a quick lunch--when all you can manage is to stuff your face with something like a 'takes no effort to even chew' burrito. Their buffalo chicken one is great and perfectly spicy, while their Chicken Teriyaki and Thai-style burritos are a little odd but surprisingly tasty.

I'm a fruit smoothies gal, so if a place makes fruit smoothies with REAL fruit (very few do), they climb to the top of my list instantly. Sure, the fruit may not exactly be fresh from the grocer's, but it's REAL fruit! Not ice mixed with grossly sweet syrup that's been sitting in a bottle for a year.

So when I can't get my Jamba fix, Boloco does it well enough to keep the fruit smoothie addict shakes away. Yes, I love smoothies just that much.

    I LOVE BOLOCO!!!

I have seriously never eaten a wrap or a burrito in my life before coming here. (Is that weird?)... anyway, I came in because I got a coupon for a small burrito for a buck. My boyfriend insisted that the Steak Buffalo wrap was the jam, so I tried it and HOLY SPAGHETTI MONSTER all I ever want to eat all day and night is steak buffalo wrap.

    Warm, enveloping wrap
    encasing perfectly cooked rice
    perfectly seasoned beef
excellent hot sauce (I'm a snob - hate tabasco)
    plenty of chopped celery
and a very potent blue cheese

    Heaven. Just ate one. HEAVEN!!!!!!!!
BOLOCO puts crack in their rice. I know it.

The financial district location is great - don't be intimidated by the line, they work SUPER fast. It's a nice thing to see. I wish starbucks were that fast!

I'm upgrading Boloco a star because they've done some pretty impressive things in the year since I last reviewed them.

    1) They've become a Certified Green restaurant, an honor held by only a handful of other establishments in this town.

    2) They did this by adding biodegradable/recyclable cups and bowls and encouraging recycling in their cafes.

    3) They've also added a lot of food-conscious language to their menu - i.e. offering organic tofu and organic free-range chicken.

    4) They're about to wrap up a killer promotion for their anniversary whereby they offered burritos and smoothies at killer prices - we're talking $3 for burritos and $2 for smoothies - making it possible for me to eat a freshly-prepared, organic lunch for less than I could prepare it for at home. In the middle of an economic crisis. Awesome job, Boloco.

    5) They seem to really care about what people write in their Yelp reviews and are eager to please.

So, you got me, Boloco. Not because you offered me $1 burrito coupons when I wasn't totally satisfied with your product, but because you're doing right by the environment and your community, which I really admire.

That said, please add more vegetables to the Bangkok wrap. I always have to add them and it tastes way better with broccoli, peppers and onions. Thanks and keep up the great work!

Non-fat, skim milk, NUTELLA shake - yummmmm!

I seriously go out of my way to visit Boloco just for the shake.  The food is good too though.  Tons of burrito options including brown rice and wheat tortillas!  I also really dig the slightly spicy mango salsa.

A definite good spot for a quick work day lunch!

    Edit: Free burrito day:
Stil Meh.  Cajun to me means spicy.  Here it means tastes like summer burrito (nothing much).  Same cashier, GREAT personality, called me "Daniel my dear" which I approve of.  The Jimmy Carter smoothie completely saved this trip.  I will go back for smoothies.  Not so much for burritos.
    -------------------------------

I was underwhelmed with the food.  I went in starved and ready to throw down on some burrito mania...alas I was met with a big fat meh.

I got the summer "burrito" with tofu.  First, you can't taste anything on its own, it's sort of a mish-mash of flavor.  Hi, there's supposed to be mango in here.  Second, why is the tofu pink?  :-/  All-in-all it's ok, I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again.

The service was fast enough and the cashier was actually super nice so there's that at least.  Apparently my receipt will fetch me a free burrito tomorrow so maybe after waiting in a line that's sure to stretch to New Hampshire I'll try something different and see.

    This place is the best!!!!
-They wish me a great day and they actually mean it.
-They have a frequent shopper card that actually seems to give me a lot of free things.
-They have free range chicken, whole wheat tortillas, brown rice, and super fresh food.
-They use corn based cups that are 100% biodegradable.
-They promote recycling in the store and only give you a couple of napkins to reduce waste.
-They have outdoor seating in Downtown Boston
-They have the perfect hangover reducer: the mini Truck Stop.

Despite rave reviews about Boloco, I am not a fan of the food, but I like the company. I had tried it when it was The Wrap and had been wanting to sample it after the change.

Some friends and I got food and sat in a square near my office and I was so disappointed. I got the Teriyaki Wrap - Teriyaki sauce, caramelized onions, broccoli, carrots, rice, whole wheat tortilla. I was so excited for this and then I got it... TEENY (fine for then because I was somewhat full), but just not great. I don't know what it was - maybe because the veggies were raw? I don't know. But I won't be getting it again.

My friends got salads. Size-wise they were decent: not huge, but not teeny tiny. One got the Greek Salad - Lettuce, feta cheese, black olives, red onions, Greek dressing. He didn't eat the dressing (gotta save up for that ice cream!) and LOVED his.

The other got the Chinese Chicken Salad - Lettuce, grilled chicken, rice noodles, almonds, sesame seeds, scallions, Chinese dressing. He was thoroughly disappointed too! There were definitely NO rice noodles or sesame seeds in this and I don't remember seeing almonds! I tried his and after one bite, thrust it back, shaking my head. I did not like it either.

I do LOVE that they have all their nutritional information on the site. Even to the point where you can find out how the values change if you add/take things away!

The other thing I didn't like was that according to their site, the Chinese Chicken salad is ridiculously fattening and it is not big and contained basically just chicken and lettuce, and the sauce looked like oil! How is it over 800 calories?! Maybe their nutritional calculator is wrong?

Definitely not instilling much confidence in me, Boloco!

However,  I went on the website and submitted some feedback, saying how disappointed I was in the calories for that salad, among other things.

2 days later I got a personalized response from their CEO & co-founder, which makes me like them, despite not liking the food:

I loved the fast, personal response and the offer of freebies to make it up to me. Since I don't have a card and didn't really like the food, I went back and forth with him. We finally agreed that the 2 free meals would be given to a homeless man who always gets food from one location for his friends.

The entire experience just made me feel really good about the company, despite not being a fan of the food.

Bolocco is a really good quick and relatively affordable healthy lunch alternative to inexplicable over abundance of those odd tasteofthetownofcourse delis in the area.

This particular bolocco stands out for their quick and super friendly service. Line moves very quickly and no matter how busy it gets they have NEVER messed up my order.

Most importantly this is the only fast food/chain restaurant that i know of that offers healthy options. Not only can you choose brown instead of white rice or whole wheat instead of white tortillas but the meat (chicken, beef and pork) are not just organic but grass fed and CERTIFIED HUMANE. Finally i can sleep at night.

I really like Boloco, I just think its a little deceiving.

I am a vegetarian so to have baked organic tofu as an option of filler is quite a treat.  When I started working at my office right across from South Station I would go almost everyday!  I was so happy to have a variety of wrap choices all that I thought were healthy for me.  Well, at least not THAT bad for me.  Sitting in a cubical all day, I do have to watch what I eat, and I was under the impression that I was having a healthy lunch...then I went on the website and looked at the "nutritional facts builder" and was shocked and appalled to find out my tofu wraps I had been eating  all topped at least 25 grams of fat.  I wasn't adding sour cream, or doing anything fancy...its just how they are.

I must say, that the Teriyaki & Classic are not that bad for you, and taste really good..weighing in between 7 to 15 grams of fat (that's for a regular with tofu and wheat wrap)...not bad.

I def think Boloco is a good quick lunch, but for those of you watching what you eat...make sure you go online to their website and check out what you're really eating.  And for those of you who don't care...MMMM...enjoy!  ;-)

Oh, I forgot to add, you can call in or place your order on-line for a lot of the locations.  Super convenient.   =)

I was waiting for my husband and got the craving for something to snack on. I ordered a class chicken Mexican burrito. The size (small) was decent for a snack, which I ended up splitting with my husband when he got there. They were super nice and substituted some items at my request without any problems. The burrito was tasty and warm, although I would have liked a little bit more of a kick to the whole thing.

Overall, not a bad experience. With all the choices you have down in the financial district, it was a hit for me!

This place is great for hot wraps.  I always get the Buffalo Chicken -- sooooo good.  The line gets really long during lunch time, but moves pretty quickly.  And yes, definitely get the Boloco card to earn points toward a free wrap.  You earn $5 just for registering the card online.

This location is pretty good compared to others...I've gone to the one on Huntington Ave near NU, but the people who worked there (probably students) don't know much about making  a wrap - got to make it tight so it doens't fall apart!!

Summer burrito in a wheat tortilla with fajita veggies?  YUMMY!!  I crave these!  I have never had anything but fast friendly service, the food is always fresh and delicious abd the location doesn't hurt (across from my office..)

I don't quite get the criticisms about the foil wrap and the "sterile impersonal" feel but Boloco is a GREAT option when you just cannot eat another salad or sandwich.

Dropped by this hip little place on Federal for lunch and was pleasantly surprised!

As it used to be The Wrap (and I l-o-v-e-d the Wrap's smoothies), I was sure it was going to be great!

I recommend the "Summer Burrito."  In a salute to a 65 degree day in January, I ordered this and absolutely loved the mango salsa in it.  I wish they sold it by the gallon.

They lose one star for the long line, but until I smarten up and bring my own lunch everyday, this may be my favorite place to go.  Yum!

Eh, what can I say, I wasn't that impressed.  I guess my hopes were raised by all of the really positive reviews here on Yelp.

Don't get me wrong, it was good - it just wasn't anything special.  Maybe I'm just being ornery today and wasn't really in the mood for a burrito, but I feel like there are many better places around here for lunch.  If I've got a hankering for a burrito, I can definitely wait until I get home and get one from Anna's.

It was a nice enough place - clean and all, and the service was fast, but I'm here for the food.  They could kick me in the nuts as long as they gave me a good enough meal.

I'm still looking for an excellent place down here for wraps (other than falafel, that's covered).  A nice buffalo chicken or hummus wrap would go a long way toward making working in the financial district a little less loathsome.

That breakfast burrito is tasty BUT. . .  MESSY (due to moist eggs) and be careful eating it or you will stain your shirt and be embarrassed all day long at work!

This is close to where I work, so it has become a favorite for a lot of us in the office. Their summer burrito never fails me, even during the winter. One thing that lots of people have mentioned is that yes, it gets HECTIC during lunch rush hour, since its in the middle of the Financial District/Downtown Boston. Get their before 12 or after 1, and you will be golden.

Great place for a lunch treat, when I don't want to make my own and bring it into the office.

Great menu:  not just Mexican burritos, but lots of other interesting and cool types of burritos as well.  Pretty much everything can be made vegetarian, and the tofu is really well-seasoned and delicious, not just some bland spongy hunks.  Weight watchers points for every menu item are listed on the website.

At this location, service is friendly and the line moves really quickly.

If you're new to what it means to be gluten-free at Boloco, ask the person with whom you place your order to show you the list of g-free options. Many of the pre-designed wraps are available in a "naked" g-free state, or you can create your own. The "protein" options (chicken, steak, tofu, etc) are all g-free, as are the beans and rice and many of the salsas and guacs. Make sure you ask for the server to change his/her gloves before s/he makes your wrapless-wrap. Gluten is out to get you any way it can.

I have gotten slightly glutenated here a few times, and I'm not sure how. Suspect it has something to do with cross-contamination and pesky wheat tortilla dust somehow accumulating in the other ingredients. If I show up at the end of the lunch rush, this is more likely to happen than if I show up the moment the place opens. That said, it generally goes a-ok and I am a frequent customer because it's a quick and easy lunchtime option, and there are so many locations....

Ok, so I used to dislike Boloco.  I don't know why, exactly, buy I just was not a fan of their burritos.  I swore them off like 5 years ago.  Somehow, things have changed.  Drastically.  I think I've had their burritos like 5 times in the past 2 weeks.

It's the buffalo tofu.  God, that thing's good.

Plus they have good iced tea, lots of seating, compostable containers, locations everywhere, nice service, the Boloco card...  I could go on and on.

Why is this Boloco different from all other Bolocos?

At other Bolocos, you may find yourself in long lines and have extended wait times to get your burrito fun on.   At this Boloco, service is speedy and you and your burritos (or whatever you happen to choose) are partying together as fast as you can say, "fiesta!"

At other Bolocos, you can order anything from tofu to buffalo chicken;  choose from lots of vegetables, and cheese galore.   At this Boloco, you get all that too - but served to you by the friendliest staff in town.

At other Bolocos, you can treat yourself to a healthy, tasty smoothie.  At this Boloco, you can buy your smoothie and then sit outside on one of the many tables and enjoy the sunshine and do some serious people-watching, which is top notch in the financial district!

Alright Boloco, you win.  After my last few times, I knew it'd be a while before I returned.  After eating bean salad for lunch six days straight, I finally ran out and decided to eat out to celebrate.  Boloco popped into my head, and I placed an online order.  Getting there at 11:20, the place is dead, but I know that within an hour, it will be a mob scene.

I guess I didn't specify what type of wrap (flour or wheat) so I was asked for that, and they made it right away so I wouldn't have a long wait.  My medium size was perfect enough to fill me up, but not make me feel like I swallowed a brick of rice and beans.  Took out the tofu (save a buck!) and add in guac (adda  buck!) and I was pleased with the pricing.

After a coworkers suggestion, I looked into the smoothies.  A custom soy smoothie looked great - soy milk, mango juice, blueberry, cranberry, and honey.  So delicious, not too much to make me feel sick, and a good complement for my meat free meal in terms of nutrition.  The site also has a nutrition calculator, so you can plan out what you are eating.  Much appreciated.

Now, the wrap was good, but nothing out of the ordinary.  The smoothie was a step up, and I really liked it.  I want to give a 3.5, but will round up for Boloco this time.  I guess I'll add this place back t my regular routine.

This week, I got to try a sandwich at yet another downtown sandwich shop, Boloco Inspired Burritos, on Federal Street.

I was impressed. Boloco is a nice and clean restaurant with a small
    seating area.

I did not try their traditional burrito. Taking the advice of a friend, I tried the
    Bangkok Chicken. It was delicious.
It was on the sweeter side, with its peanut sauce. It came in a wrap and with rice. Cucumbers in the rice added an extra crunch. I must say, I am impressed and will visit it again, soon.

Since writing my last review, I've noticed a considerable change in the attitudes of the staff at Boloco's Federal St location. Where once I was routinely greeted with sullen looks, I can now confidently say that those looks have turned to smiles and pleasant small talk. This is exactly what I was hoping for since the food is so good that I could not have stopped going there soley based on the service. I'm pretty sure I'm addicted to the Huevos Chorizo breakfast burrito with Habanero salsa; it is to die for!

    Thanks Kristen!

This is my fav of the Bolocos (aka the artist formerly known as the Wrap).  They do a very solid job and all of the contents of their wraps seem perfectly cooked.
I'm a big fan of the Buffalo and also the Bangkok burrito (though I still say the name awkwardly every time that I order it).  One of the most impressive things about this spot is how they bust through the line at lunch.  The line will be out the door and it seems like you only have to mait a minute or two before Boloco tastyness is ready to jump in your stomach.
    The straight-quality wraps fairly priced
What's good-well prepared ingredients, fast service
The slap-seems like they have been going through a little staff turnover so I have had cashiers that were a little slow.

There is nothing unpleasant about these burritos, but you could go up the street to the Herrera's cart at Downtown Crossing and get one twice as good for the same price. Just saying.

Despite the menu of fusion burritos, the flavors here are not thrilling. Though Boloco markets itself as a "different" chain, the place feels as sterile, impersonal and mainstream as any other. And I hated the way the bottom of my tortilla was twisted into the foil, which clamped the last inch of burrito with an ungodly death grip. The foil won.

I found Boloco's to be similar to Chipotle--it's very clean inside, and basically all they sell is burritos.  They're a little different than Chipotle because they have smoothies and salads (which I don't think Chipotle has?)  I also noticed that they're environmentally friendly because they have plenty of recycling bins and all of their utensils and plates are biodegradable.

I got the Mediterranean burrito, which had tomatoes, olives, feta cheese, hummus, and chicken.  It tasted really healthy and I liked the combination of ingredients, but it didn't taste anything like Mexican food hahaa.  I think Boloco's is a good choice if you're craving a burrito and want to eat semi-healthy!

3 star burritos, but 4 star overall. There's not alot of places where you can run in and pretty quickly get a burrito (whole wheat tortillas, brown rice and white meat chicken all options) customized how you like it for under 7 or 8 bucks (AND IT'S ON NEWBURY where everything is a bit more expensive as it should be)

Recommended as good, quick comfort food.

I know you love Mexican - You want a Burrito - I know, but....

PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT GO TO  BOLOCOS

It should be called Bull - Shitos.

Overpriced, horribly horribly made.  Straight up SUCKS.  Been to 2 locations in different states, one in MA one in NH, the 2nd time because I had a free burrito coupon because my first burrito sucked so much.

    Both sucked.

If in Boston, Go to Anna's.   Just dont Boloco man, and don't let your friends Boloco either.

Although I think some of the burrito options here are a little too over-the-top with strange mixes of ingredients (the summer burrito comes to mind), I'll admit that this place does work for me once in a while, when I need a break from the other lunch places in the area.  It's nice to have a place to go for some healthy burritos, as well as a nice selection of juice drinks and smoothies.  The seating area here is one of the better options in Downtown Boston, especially in the summertime.

However, this place is a little too pricey to go here consistently, especially when the burrito comes far from being able to satisfy my hunger in the middle of the day.

Don't be scared when you walk up and the line is out the door - these guys are quick and efficient. I love the Cajun with dark meat chicken, brown rice and a wheat wrap. My boss loves this place as well.

If you're eating in front of someone who you don't want to think you're a complete slob, order it in a bowl instead of a wrap and it's much less messy to eat.

If you need an afternoon pick me up, get the Jimmy Carter smoothie. I get it with blueberries sometimes, YUM.

I've heard great things about their breakfast from coworkers, but haven't tried it yet.

This Boloco kind of pales in comparison to my beloved Boloco on the Commons. Yes, the food is exactly the same, but the service just isn't as good. I mean, the guys behind the counter get the job done, but they don't know my name or make conversation like the guys at Boloco on the Commons do. But when I'm at work and in need of a burrito fix, this place will still do just fine.

Yes the burritos are delicious. I've just come to expect more from my Boloco experiences that's all.

I've now been to this place three times over the past year.  I've yet to have a positive experience, but I want to like the place based on the menu.

The food itself seems ok.  My problem is that the restaurant has *yet* to get my order right.  Three visits, three custom orders--all wrong.  And not just one missing ingredient.  Today, I ordered a carnitas burrito with fajita vegetables, no rice, habanero salsa, and sour cream.  I got a carnitas burrito with rice and habanero salsa.  Three strikes and you're out, Boloco.
