Can you say pure bliss?
I went to Body Blitz just before Christmas, and there was a long and constant line-up of men waiting to purchase gift certificates - gents, even though you waited until last minute for those gifts (tsk, tsk!), an excellent choice indeed. The worst thing about Body Blitz is having to go back out into the real world and/or cold Toronto weather.
Upon entering, you are greeted with a refreshing eucalyptus scent (source: steam room). Payment is done before treatment, at which point you can order a refreshing beverage to be brought out to the pool area at a specific time. The cold tea really hits the spot while lounging in the dead sea or hot green tea pool after doing at least one round of steam or sauna. The cold pool is a great contrast and really needed to bring the body temperature down - highly recommend doing at least one whole cycle as designed and not skipping this step.
Vivian was my RMT and, boy, is she good! A few days earlier, overzealous exercise after a long break left me completely pulled, and Vivian's massage in combination with the water cycle did wonders for getting fixed and being able to walk and move without excruciating pain... she is very skilled in getting rid of the tough knots (not afraid of applying more pressure) and also showed me some great stretches for later.
Tips:
-Bring a water bottle, preferably a large one, and stay hydrated throughout.
-Bring some snacks if you will be staying for more than 2 hours (leave it in your locker), as combination of empty stomach and steam/sauna is not that great.
Minor suggestions for improvement if management is reading:
-Even though one large towel is provided, it is not clear how or where to get a second one - if you use the one provided for the steam room and dry sauna to sit on, it is soaking wet quickly and a new one is needed for a shower at the end.
-If the robes cannot be fluffy, can they at least be a bit longer? -

Ahhh...
Great service. Very clean. Well organized. Staff are friendly.
I just wanted to note that I love the amount of attention they put into the level of service, like the little plastic bags for your swimsuit to take home, give you slippers in your size, have towels and robes ready in your locker... it makes life easy for their guests. I hope they keep up the good work. I've been coming here twice within the past 2 weeks and it's been great so far. I do only come on weekdays because I want to avoid the weekend rush.
If free drinks was offered, that would top it to five stars... oh, and an extra bench in the change room would be nice too.
Looking forward to my next session! -

My friend and i decided to go for a girly spa day this past Saturday. I've heard rave reviews about this place and wanted to check it out for myself. I got a 1 hour treatment (body scrub - $140) and with that you also get to use the water therapies which the place is known for.
We arrived 1.5 hours early and were brought into the inner sanctum of the spa, decor is very organic, lots of wood and rock - you get lockers to stash your things in (warning: communal if you are shy; change beforehand!) before heading to the waters. A shower beforehand is mandatory and they give you towels, robe and flip flops for when you're done.
You can either wear a bathing suit or go naked for the waters, and there's a recommended circuit that alternates cold and hot you can follow or do your own thing.
The warm sea salt pool is big and feels great, so does the hot green tea, the cold plunge...insanely cold, i saw many women take a step in and run away - yes it's that cold!
The steam room was heavenly with eucalyptus in the air, sauna was nice too, I did alternate hot and cold and by the end you're pretty much a marshmallow.
Then came the treatment! The body scrub was listed as a wash, scrub and moisturize. I chose the lime and ginger scrub which was a little more abrasive - its supposed to get all the dead skin off and OMG did it ever!
You get your own room where you lay on a padded table and change into a disposable thong. You get rinsed off and then washed with an exfoliating mitt, then comes the scrub - if you are sensitive - this will hurt! I didn't mind it too much my friend who got the same said it was painful.
Then came the surprise, i thought the moisturizing would just be cream slapped on and you're out the door, but no, it was like a (light) massage over the entire body as she soaked that cream into you. A heavenly 5 minutes per foot to start and i knew it was all over. She rubbed lotion into every part and by the end i was puddle of mush.
While i was being pampered she had thoughtfully bagged my wet bikini and then helped me into my robe.
End result - completely body relaxation, skin like butter, and one of the nicest days i've had in a while.
Then came another surprise - i had a gift certificate for $140, i figured i would be spending an extra $50 on tax and tip and when we checked out - it turns out tax is included, and they don't accept tips! They said they do internal rewards and if we liked our services we could review our esthetician, which we kindly did.
Great place - highly recommended! Lots of wedding showers on the week-end so either go another day or go later (after 4pm) for less chaos. -

So relaxing, Wish I can spend all my Mommy days off at this place :)
I got introduced to this great experience from a close friend of mine, she asked for me to join for a girl's night out,so I did! this was one different way to spend a night out away from my yelling children and let me tell you I loved every minute of it. The spa waters were relaxing and the water cycle of going from hot to cold left my body in such a relaxing and calm state by the end of the night I was in bliss. We ordered protein shakes which were then served to us while we were in the salt water pool, we also both had the body blitz spa sampler package, the package was great but not as relaxing as I thought..maybe next time ill go back and splurge to have a longer service done. Staff was very helpful and friendly. This place was great I think it just need more showers, at end of the evening it was abit annoying having to wait to rinse yourself when there are only 5 or 6 showers in such a large facility.
Great concept! -

Went there with my sister on a cold Tuesday afternoon for the therapeutic waters. The staff were friendly and explained exactly what the different waters were for. The best part of the water circuit was the green tea pool. It was so relaxing. And Rachel McAdams was there!
It got pretty busy around 1-2 pm and a couple of times I had to wait to do the smaller pools (green tea and cold plunge). I can only image how busy it must get on weekends. I was able to go through the circuit twice in about 2 hours. The change room is amazing, hair products and applicances are available for use. This would be a really nice place to get together with some girl friends. -
Review from Renata R.
It took me a while to be able to book a massage at Body Blitz. They are very busy during the week, although they close at 8pm, they don't book massages later than 6 - meaning, if you work 9-5, it gets really, really hard to enjoy the water circuit - but, I finally managed to do it.
I arrived one hour before my massage and could explore the water circuit. IT IS AMAZING. You pay in advance, and order some overpriced tea or smoothie that will be served while you are relaxing at one of their amazing pools - for me, it was an iced tea served just in time for me to go to the hot green tea tub.
I went alone, and there are, indeed, lots of chit-chat from other women who go in groups, but it didn't affect my relaxing experience. When my therapist called me in I was feeling already much more relaxed, which made her job much easier. She was obviously very experienced, because I was feeling this pain on my shoulders and neck for about a week and it just vanished! Then, she recommended that I spent some extra time in the sauna and a few more minutes in the saltwater pool. Of course I did that!
Great, great experience! The downside, I cannot do that as often as I wanted because it's SO EXPENSIVE (and getting some free time to go early is also not really easy), but I am eager to come back. Loved this place! A solid five star.Listed in: The Beauty and The Beast

I would say I definitely get around when it comes to lounging-around-in-warm-water-type spas....I thought about it while relaxing in the waters today at Body Blitz, and I have been to six in the past year in various countries (seven if you include BB).
If you've reading reviews, then you are surely aware of the concept -- a circuit of various waters to relax and restore. I would say BB is on the small side, but they control the number of women who are inside at any one time so it never gets uncomfortably packed. The facilities are clean and well maintained and laid out, though the changing room can feel tiny when you have a lot of women in there at once.
My major complaint is that the quiet rule isn't really enforced. Sure, lots of ladies are there with friends and you do want to chat, but sometimes you get bigger groups of women calling out to each other across the pool which kinda ruins the buzz.
However, if you can tune that out, you can seriously enter a state of bliss here. -
Review from Emily M.
I only went here for the water treatment. But I was really impressed with the facilities and the whole experience. I went over the Christmas Holidays and it was busy but not crowded as they limit the number of people that can go. I for one don't mind the chattering of other women and actually find it entertaining.
They staff are friendly and are on top of things. If you are doing something wrong, they'll let you know and a polite way. (FYI after the steam room you need to shower off before going in the cold pool)
I will be going back for sure for some of the other services they offer. -

When I left Toronto for Seattle in 2009, Body Blitz was just starting to make a name for itself. It was my secret indulgence (and respite) and I would come enjoy the therapeutic waters in the evenings and weekends without any difficulty.
Fast forward to Christmas 2011. I hadn't been back in the city for 2.5 years and my friend asked what I wanted to do while I was in town. BODY BLITZ!! My body had been craving the heat and the chillaxing nature of this place. Her response: "We might need to be on a waiting list since it gets so busy." Whhhaaaat?! Clearly, my little secret was not so secret anymore! We ended up not having to wait very long and the place was just as lovely as I had remembered. Things I still love about Body Blitz:
**They make quite an effort to keep the place clean. It has the potential to get pretty grungy but they've done a good job being on top of that.
**I can show up without having to bring anything - they supply towels, toiletries, hair driers, brushes, sandals, hair elastics, plastic bags for wet bathing suits - what more could I ask for?
**Lockers are included in the price of the admission so your valuables can be kept safe while you're being pampered.
**Healthy drinks are available. It definitely hit the spot when I went.
**Lastly, I love that you get a choice to wear a bathing suit or go in your birthday suit. (the spa I go to in Seattle enforces that women go naked).
All in all, a great experience. I always feel relaxed yet rejuvenated upon leaving this place. Oh, how I miss it already! -

I came here after I was given a gift certificate. And I can honestly say I don't think I have ever had such a relaxing afternoon in my life. I cannot stop raving about this place to everyone! The staff were all lovely. The drinks were superb. The RMT was knowledgeable, and took the time to review some stretches with me afterwards.
Will definitely be back! Can't wait for the new location! -
Review from Simika K.
One of the best massages I've had in a very long time was here at the Body Blitz. Laura, the massage therapist was very knowledgeable, and really focused on my problem areas (upper back and right shoulder), applying the right amount of pressure, and really working to break down the scar tissue that had built up there from an accident I'd had last year.
The facilities themselves were fabulous - the communal bath area - is fabulous. The circuit really does its job relaxing you and making you feel like you're getting your money's worth - deep sea salt pool, the tea pool and the cold plunge pool, sauna and steam rooms were all fabulous. My favourite was the hot green tea pool.
I also got the Moroccan body glow - there's no way you can come out of that experience without the softest skin you've ever had!
I also appreciated the gratuity-free culture of this place. I'll definitely be back! -

I went to body blitz with a friend of mine on a weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the spa and its services. I did the hydrotherapy and got a massage (60 mins)
The salon isn't overly hoity toity like stillwater or hazelton hotel's spas. but it is well designed and very clean.
The only thing I didn't like about the spa was that it was a little too busy. The change room resembled something that you would expect at a local pool on a hot august day. it was so packed. The hydrotherapy is awesome but again, it was a little too busy, full of ladies chattering about- hardly a relaxing experience.
But I did really enjoy the massage i received. the service and the staff are great and I left feeling invigorated.
Also they do not accept gratuity. As a consumer I found this odd but I support this as I have often wondered why I would have to pay tax + 20% tip on a already pretty expensive service (this goes for high end hair salons too, and I think bartenders and servers at restaurants deserve more tip and people in other service industries that make a better than decent wage probably do not)
I would definitely go back but avoide the weekend and go during their downtime. -

It's warm water, full of women comfortable with their bodies. All shapes & sizes, bathing suit or not; it's up to you!
The waters can get busy, which naturally makes it noisy with the echo of chattering and gossiping women bobbing around in the salt water pool. Not exactly relaxing ...
They sell fancy (overpriced) smoothies, that a lot of women seem to enjoy.
I haven't tried any of the rub-down services, so I can't speak from that aspect. -

I really, really like the concept of Body Blitz: different waters, circuits, steam (Eucalyptus) and sauna room. When Body Blitz first opened, I used to go often during the week and I loved it. Quiet, spacious, and relaxing. But over time, I have found that this spa has become more commercial and less to do with relaxation. This really is a meeting/social/gathering/loud talking and laughing kind of place with the girls. It could be because I came here with a girlfriend on a Sunday, rainy afternoon and that's why it was so busy.
The change room is small with one tiny bench. I knew I was in trouble when my bottom locker was wedged in between two other patrons talking over me. The bench was occupied by lots of bags and shoes so nowhere to sit. Changing was very hurried. No robe or towel in my locker so I had to hunt a staff down to get one.
Various Pools. The main pool is sufficiently sized however as I mentioned, there were many ladies talking and chatting. This is fine except when you really want to relax and have some peace and quiet, it can be quite distracting. Two smaller pools (one cold, and one hot green tea pool) flank the main waters on either side. I couldn't really access these because large groups of women were sitting there talking. I could have been a douchette and just wedged my way into their group, but...
I opted to get a Therapeutic massage which was ok. I definitely fell asleep at the beginning but it was due to the fact that I was exhausted from the night before rather than anything. Towards the end of the massage, I was woken by loud laughing from the main pool area and lots of banging doors and walking. The walls are extremely thin and because I am so sensitive to noise, it was not relaxing at all.
I find that if you can, maybe come on an off-time during the weekdays. This will ensure that you don't get loud groups of laughing/talking women and more access to the pools. There was even a line-up to use the showers (I think only about 4-5 stalls in total) which I found frustrating. When I was lining up, there were 3 girls outside the shower stalls who were slathering mud on themselves which made the floor and general area really messy and gross. The good thing is that their mint soap, shampoo's and conditioner's are available to use (you don't have to bring your own) and they are also for sale.
Because I live uptown, I don't think I would make the trek here. As mentioned, I love the concept of a water spa, but the space cannot keep up with the amount of people. It's not relaxing at all which is what my idea of a spa is supposed to be. The atmosphere is quite hustle and bustle actually: patrons walking in and out, or weaving between various staff members mopping the wet floors, spa guests talking in the pool area, in the change room, in the sauna (no quiet room)...However, it is a fun place to catch up with the girls so if you don't mind the noise, then this place will be for you.Listed in: 30 Day Yelp Challenge -…, Spa Havens and Holes of the…

I love this place. I have been 3 times and it is really a great relaxing experience. I live in Vaughan so the travel downtown is well worth it.
To be able to slip into your bathing suit and relax in different plunge pools and steam rooms while it is cold and snowy outside it quite the special treat.
Everything is clean and they take the proper precaution to maintain and safe and clean environment.
I like how the staff asked a girl who had long hair to put her hair up. I also liked how the staff asked a lady to refrain from using a cell phone.
Their cocoa smoothie is a must try!
Now here's the reason why I gave it 4 rather than 5 stars.
The staff started asking us to exit the facilities at 730pm but it shows that they close at 8pm. I didn't like that at all. I wanted to get the most out of experience and having travelled from Vaughan to downtown etc etc
I made mention of that upon leaving and the front desk manager immediately apologized and sent us home with some spa samples. Amazing customer service on her behalf.
As well the products she made us try are amazing and we are now hooked. We tried the Argan oil and the green tea mask.. Skin feels great!
Thanks again Body Blitz we will be back. -

Today was my first time at this spa and the waters are absolutely amazing! I felt rested and rejuvenated... However, I was not at all impressed with the staff and the services.
When we came in I've been told that cell phones must be kept silent at all times, and of course right away I put my phone on silent. While me and my friends were relaxing by the pool one of the staff came and told us that there were no cellphones allowed at all to which we all responded that we will put them back in out lockers as soon as we get up to go to the sauna. They said that no we must get up NOW and put the cellphones in the locker which was very disturbing to me, as I was lying by the pool relaxing. After putting our cellphones back in the lockers the same lady came back and while asking others how they are doing and if they need anything she came to us and instead of asking if we need anything she said "I'm here making sure that there are no cellphones in this spa right now, are there?!" In the most condescending way possible. She then kept on stalking us in the steam room, since we were having a quiet conversation while there was NO ONE there, she opened the door, letting the steam out telling us that if someone joins us we must stay quiet- something we were aware off and respected however there was NO ONE there!!! she then came back again (letting out more steam) just to make sure we were sitting on towels!!!! By that point I was not feeling relaxed at all and pretty upset. After we finished at the waters (where we had to constantly ask for fresh towels as there were none available by the pools) I went to the locker to change and took my cell phone out to check the time, right away there was another staff member telling me I cannot use a cell phone- no, not even in the change room.... Then I went to the shower and that same stalker staff member found me in the shower with my bottle of water that I forgot by the pool to ask me if its mine, again with attitude. It was absolutely RIDICULOUS!!!!
Even though the spa experience itself was very pleasurable and relaxing the staff ruined it for me and the minor glitches, like the lack of towels, the tiny change room and the nudity (disgusting) all added up to not being worth the price you're paying. -

The waters are amazing. I've gone to the spa a few times and wish I could make it a monthly event. Plus the service is great. Everyone is helpful and friendly.
I usually go to the spa nude, sometimes I will wear bikini bottoms. It took some courage to build up to this, but it is so comfortable to be naked. If that isn't your thing, you might have a problem going to the spa. I would guess that 20% are completely nude and another 30% are topless.
Try not to wear earrings or a necklace since they may be ruined by the salt water.
Also the drinks are refreshing. I usually bring a glass with me or ask for one for water.
Otherwise, you don't have to bring anything. They provide everything you need. Soap, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, flip flops, robe, towels, hair bands and there is a bright vanity near the change room with hairspray, gel, hair dryers, cotton balls etc. I wish I could take the room home with me.
I only go to the waters. I have tried the RMT services. So far the experiences have been okay. If you are looking for a relaxation massage, you won't be disappointment. If you are looking for something else, book at a clinic. -

Ah! The Waters. WHERE ELSE can you spend a day with your friends in bikinis (or less..) plunging in pools of salt water and green tea? Body Blitz is a spa, best known for its therapeutic water circuit, which happens to be housed in a beautiful exposed brick loft in downtown Toronto. Body Blitz is one of my favorite places to go with my sisters or girl friends just to lounge, chill and catch up.
Charlotte's review (below) is extremely accurate, so I won't bother to repeat.
Try to go (if possible) during the day on a weekday. Its calm, serene and quiet. Saturday afternoons are bachelorette parties and birthdays and is usually filled to capacity, which is a little less relaxing. They do not take reservations for the waters, I had out of town guests shopping downtown and waiting four hours for the call to return when on the waiting list. The average guest stays 2.5 hours.
Their lime/mint series of creams and shampoos is to die for, and all natural. The teas are delicious, and are special blends made for the spa. I get one every time. There are water fountains throughout for hydration.
Staff is very friendly, and accommodating. The no tipping/no stress policy is appreciated. You can also purchase a multi-pass card to the waters, which gets you one free. All treatments include the waters which is an excellent bonus.
Suitable for all ages, brought my mom and she LOVED it.
Be prepared for the nudity. And as it is Toronto, be prepared for that nudity to come in the form of someone you have a professional relationship with. It *may* be awkward.
Recommended, but stick to a weekday.Listed in: Best of the Best

Review from Chris P.
i have mixed feelings on Body Blitz as there were pros and cons to my experience there.
I'll start with the biggest con, I felt that there was a severe lack of privacy there. Whether I was in the change room, shower room or pools area everytime I turned around there was either maintence staff member present or there was a set of stranger's boobs. Even when I was showering I could see and hear everything that was happening in the stalls beside me which I know means my neighbours could see me too. The only place I actually felt like I was in private was when I was in the bathroom stall.
While my body scrub left my skin feeling amazingly smooth I still felt a bit uncomfortable during the treatment as the attendant didn''t quite have the softest touch and the spray down afterwards was definitely a little harsh on the water pressure. So that was another pro and con.
The biggest pro though is that its definitely a relaxing a rejuventaing experience. The water circuit is awesome, I loved sitting in the warm sea salt pool, seriously I didn't want to leave, it felt like I was in a ocean of sea salty heaven.
Unfortunatley though I have to end on another con as I find this spa to be just a tad too expensive to be a regular haunt of mine, both in dollaras and in time. To really get the full effect of it you have to dedicate a good number of hours to spend there, otherwise it will be a huge rip off. My preference is to come in, get my treatment, and then go do something else as my attention span is fairly short. But hey, to each his own! -

Heaven. Modelled after Scandinavian or Asian style 'bathhouses' where no one wears clothing (here it is optional). Most of the 5 star reviews below mirror my own thoughts so I will not bother repeating, but what I will say is if you are not comfortable with others being nude, don't come here. It really is that simple.
I LOVE the fact that they do not try to push products on you. That is a really annoying thing about most spas and a major plus with this one. The Moroccan spice body treatment was wonderful and my skin felt like silk. -

The waters circuit is rad but for what you pay the products lean toward the low quality side... Very rough towels... I agree with most of the reviews the staff are really nice but the cleaning ones r totally in ur face ALL THE TIME and the clear glass is just unnecessary. I'd prefer an open space than a pretend-private shower. The crowd here talks really loudly I felt like I was at a market. Then I got reprimanded for checking the time on my phone and then again for reading on my iPad... (ironically)... I've been to much nicer spas for less than what they ask for here ($48 before tax) I guess there isn't much competition in this neighborhood... Still it was enjoyable despite the few flaws...

You can't take a better vacation from the city than a visit to the pools at Body Blitz. Give yourself lots of time to enjoy the circuit of the saltwater pool, infared sauna, ice plunge, eucalyptus steam, rain showers, and green tea hot tub.
The perfect place to catch up with a friend - there is nothing to do but talk while you lay back and relax (except for the quiet areas, expect to be shushed in the sauna if you're not the only ones there!).
It's definitely pricey - so I'd recommend visiting for just the waters on a cheap tuesday. Or, if you're lucky enough to have full benefits, book some time with their registered massage therapists and the waters are included.
They also have a beautiful dressing room for afterwards. Get ready in their fully mirrored room with stools and hairdryers for all. They also have body lotion and basic beauty products available to use.
I really don't get the complaint comments about nudity. It's a water spa - in any venue outside North America the swimsuits woud be more rare. I've never encountered any fellow guests there - dressed or nude - that has made me feel uncomfortable. Wear what makes you feel comfortable, and don't pass judgement on the other guests. -

I've been to Body Blitz a number of times, but have just thought to review it.
Body Blitz is interesting for many reasons, including the fact that it's a women's only day spa, offers no-frills spa services at reasonable prices, each service purchased includes a unlimited about of time in their water therapies circuit beforehand or after ward, depending on the service you purchase, and what I find most interesting when contrasted against all other spa experiences I've had, the gratuities are included in the price of your service. You pay when you arrive, not when you leave. This in a successful attempt to ensure that patrons leave feeling relaxed and not pressured into purchasing products from the spa used on them during their treatments, though they do have the products available.
All of the therapists and dressed alike and are warm and welcoming. They make a point of guiding you down the hallways into the therapy rooms with a hand on your arm or on your back. This is nice, unless you don't like being touched, in which case you're in for a surprise, I guess, when your spa service starts.
As I mentioned, most services start out in the water therapies circuit. You move from salt water pool to cold plunge pool to green tea pool to steam room to sauna and back again on a timed circuit. Or you can just chill in the pool of your choice. You can also be served some delicious out-of-this-world house made iced chai lattes and hot teas poolside. It's like going on vacation for the afternoon.
The absolute only thing that phases me about this experience (and which gets less and less disturbing as each attendance goes by) is the gratuitous nudity. Yes, I said the nudity is gratuitous. Just because it's an all women's spa, I can't understand the need to strip down (a bathing suit is nominal clothing anyway, isn't it?) and get into these pools naked. It's distracting. And you wouldn't do it at a public pool for women only....at least I don't think. And this isn't much different, except that you're paying more to use it.
Anyhow, once you're done with your pools and services, the change room and other amenities are fabulous and well stocked with everything you need to get ready to go home.
Body Blitz's location is really interesting. It's on Adelaide Street directly next door to Devil's Martini and is another one of those deceiving storefronts. Small, all brick exterior which leads you into this Narnia-like land of pools and endless spa service rooms.
I highly recommend the Moroccan Spice Glow treatment or any of the body bakes. And, should you be so inclined, their spa products for purchase are amazing and all natural.
Enjoy. -

I come by for the waters only. They are wonderfully relaxing. Very good circuit. Fun to go with friends, great with some magazines on your own. Very friendly people. Women only. Don't know their trans policy. Worth the money. Juices are good too (perhaps a bit too frothy sometimes). I go back again and again. Amazing place. Another one will open at Queen and River. Happy sigh.

Thank whatever higher power you worship for Body Blitz!
On a cold, miserable day when everything is going the opposite way you're going, you can always visit the soothing, healing waters of B.B. Bring a bunch of friends or just relax by yourself - it's really the best way to spend an afternoon. Staff is friendly, your refreshment is served pool side and bathing suits are optional.

I went to this spa for a friend's birthday. I admit I have never been to a spa before so I really don't have much to compare it against. I like the fact that there is a whole section for soaking in three different baths - cold, salt & green tea. Paddling about with friends in the baths while waiting for your treatment is just fabulous. Body Blitz is a women's only spa and I felt so comfortable being there, with my lumpy body on display.
The only downside for me was the treatment room I was taken to. I had a body scrub. The room is very utilitarian looking, something straight out of a 1950s soviet potato farmer's summer camp. The treatment was fabulous, just wish the room itself was more inviting. -

Splish spash, it's a therapeutic bath (with other women)!
If you haven't been to a water spa before, you should definitely check this place out!
It's an all women spa where clothing is optional. I'm a bit more modest but a lot of the patrons aren't. If you aren't used to seeing boobies it's different, but people are here to relax and keep to themselves, so it's not really a big deal.
~Check-In~
The staff was super friendly at check-in. They asked us if we wanted to pre-order smoothies or tea. They had a small menu of tasty beverages. I ordered a Vitamin D smoothie for $7 bucks, teas were $3 each. A bit steep but you are at a spa. After we paid for our drinks, we were provided with locker keys and given a quick tour of the facilities.
~Massage~
I had booked a 60 minute therapeutic massage.
The room was warm with basic decor. My RMT did a good job and asked if I wanted a scalp and foot massage. After wearing the wrong shoes to the Yelp Elite event yesterday, the foot massage was perfect! It's interesting at this spa, they don't have the little envelopes to tip your masseuse. Non-tipping for spa services is more common place at hotels, but I was surprised.
~Therapeutic Pools and Saunas~
There are some recommendations for a circuit of all the pools and sauna rooms. Generally I stick to doing something hot/warm and then hopping into the cold pool.
They had lounge chairs as well for just sitting. No magazines, so if you want to read, you may want to bring your own material. However, it's wet and dim in the pool area, so not optimal for reading.
~Warm Sea Salt Pool~
The largest of the three pools, there was lots of seating and space. They have a nice brick divider/fountain in the middle of the pool that gives you a bit of privacy and it really prettied the area up. I spent most of my time in this pool since it's the perfect temperature and I'm a fan of Dead Sea mineral salt.
~Hot Green Tea Pool~
The green tea pool is about 10 degrees hotter than the Salt water pool. I didn't find it too hot at all. However, it is a small pool and if you don't want to be crowded, you may want to wait a little bit. I sort of wish it smelled more like green tea.
~Cold Plunging Pool~
Brrr! Refreshing! But cold! I am surprised I tried it and to tell you the truth, I started to really like it, even though I was terrified of a rapid temperature change. It's important to regulate your body temperature and a good shock for the skin.
~Dry Sauna~
The infrared sauna was enjoyable. It didn't get too hot (I sort of wish it was hotter) and it still had a nice smell of wood.
~Wet Sauna~
Body Blitz claims to have one of the hottest wet saunas around.
It's pretty hot. The eucalyptus oil they use is perfect for helping those pores open up. The steam kept pumping in which is great because I find that some saunas take a long time to get hot and they don't stay steamy long enough.
~Change Rooms~
The change room was cold. The change room is a small room with a bench in the middle. There was a separate room for hair drying and makeup. They had a supply of body lotion and hair gel as well. They had combs available sitting in jars of disinfectant. I opted to not comb my hair.
There were a few things I wasn't crazy about.
Showers - The showers were clean and equipped with minty soaps. The glass was frosted, but you can see your neighbors nipples. I personally like a bit more privacy while showering. And if I go with friends, I don't really want to see their blurry nipples and girl parts.
Towels - There are towels (one large, one small) available in your locker. But for a water therapy spa, you'd expect towels to be everywhere. You could ask for a towel and the staff would grab you one, but I would prefer if I could get my own towel. After all the pool hopping, your towel gets sopping wet.
Drinking Water - They have filtered water dispensers all over the place, but no cups. They do provide you with a plastic cup, but I don't like leaving my cup on the counter and going back to it.
The cold water pool and hot green tea pool were jetless. I like bubbly swirling water. I would have liked jets, in a public pool, I like to see water circulating.
Additionally, I took a nice shower, but I'm itchy right now. It's good for chemicals to kill those germs... but not my skin.
Overall, I had a really nice time. Not my favorite spa in the city, but for water therapy it's one of your best bets in town! -

Lots of reviews on this place already, but I thought I'd put my two cents in *g*
A friend of mine introduced me to Body Blitz a while back and of COURSE we took part in the Waters. The water circuit is a really laid-back, unique spa experience. I mean, where can you sit under a warm salt-water waterfall, lounge in an aromatherapy steam room, or dip your entire body in hot green tea??
The staff are friendly and bring smoothies and snacks to you.The spa provides their own shampoos and body washes in the showers, and- one of my favourite things- hairdryers and hair products for when you leave! I can't think of how many spas and places have gotten all kinds of gunk in my hair while I received a facial or massage and all I really wanted was to wash it out and dry my hair.
I had no issue with the nudity thing, but I guess some people do. If you're the modest type, you are allowed to wear a bathing suit and they provide bath robes so that's fine by me! I might try one of their treatments one day, but I find them a little pricey. I'll stick to the waters for now! -

My 5 stars go to the massage I received yesterday at Body Blitz- and I'll get to that in a sec. The waters I'd score a 4 star. Doing the water circuit (hot steam/sauna then cold plunge, warm salt waters, then hot green tea pool... and cold plunge. did I mention the cold plunge? (it's very worth the pain btw- feels great after 30 seconds, believe me) is a tradition in many cultures and it's not my first experience with this 'activity'. To get the full experience I recommend going alone or with one friend... I think you might not get the full 'experience' (COMPLETE body relaxation, rejuvenation and detoxification) of the water circuit if you are socializing while doing it. They are short a star from me b/c I think they need to polish up the paint and floors... and could repair/replace a few of the ripped (though VERY comfortable) large red chaise lounges.
NOW my massage...
I am VERY picky when it comes to massages. I hate loosey goosey spa massages where you feel like you are being lightly stroked and massaged. Annette Russell, RMT is a goddess when it comes to giving a full body massage. I have been lucky enough to have had well over 100 massages in the last 8 years and have never had an experience like this. Her style uses moderately firm, average to moderately fast moving strokes, rubs and pulls/pinches of the muscle. She reaches every aspect of your body including toes, fingers, jawline, front of neck/throat (oh so gentle with that), the TMJ area, brow, scalp, (if you love your hairdressers scalp massage just imagine that times 10!)
In short, Annette is the bomb! If you are fortunate enough to see her for a massage, your time at Body Blitz will be made 100% more relaxing. Oh and do the water circuit first as afterwards you'll not be up for too much but a nap on one of the red chaise lounges and a big ol' glass of water! -

This place is amazing! I enjoyed the waters here much more than Elmwood's water services. There is a lot more variety and you could spend hours here.
If you're new, they give you a quick tour. Don't be shocked when they open the pool door and you see a bunch of half-naked women. I found that most women went sans bathing suit so if you're not comfortable with that, you'll want to check in to a different spa.
The spa provides almost everything for you, towels, robe, slippers, shampoo, etc. The only thing they didn't offer was face moisturizer, but at the front you are welcome to use the samples. The towels and robe is a bit thin, don't expect anything plush or fluffy.
Set aside as much time as possible to do the circuit. The lady said I could do the circuit 2-3 times in 2 hours, but I only did it once. I would set aside at least 2.5-3 hours so you have time to go through it again.
After you're done the circuit, your body feels like jelly and you feel like a million bucks. I just did the waters and it was worth it.
I went on on a Tuesday night and I thought it'd be too crowded because it was a cheap day, but it was very quiet and not too many people were there.
Staff were also very friendly. If you haven't been to this place go there now. -

Body Blitz is my favorite place to go to when I need a stress reliever or am on a staycation. It is, however, quite pricey so as much as I'd like to go more often, can't really afford to do that. They used to have more special promotions that they would send out via their newsletter but I find that now, there are pretty much no promotions unless it's for their waters card.
I won't go into the awesomeness that is the water circuit because everyone has already covered the points there. I'll just go over the different treatments that I've gotten there, the therapeutic massage and the body bake.
The massage -
I've gotten at least a dozen massages from Body Blitz as I've been visiting since 2008. I find that the RMTs are often hit or miss. You can ask for more pressure but some of the massages I've gotten were basically fingers tapping across my back and shaking the table as they push down on my back. Very lackluster massage. Some are better though but it seems like every time I go, I never seem to see the same faces so I don't know if I DO find an amazing RMT, if I can later on request them again.
Body bake -
I kind of felt like a corpse on the table. It was definitely an interesting experience as you are washed down while you're in basically lifeless on comfy massage type table. You get a choice of different muds. After the treatment, I didn't seem to have a noticeable different with my skin so I didn't do this treatment again.
The staff/attendants are all super nice and helpful.
I do agree about the showers and the frosted glass being not too great for privacy. Yeah, we are all female there but sometimes, if I go with a friend, I don't necessarily want them to see a vagueish naked me. -

I went back for a massage this past June and this visit was much different than my first! I finally realized that in order to not be distracted by the nudity, you should just join right in! I went for an hour and half long massage and it was excellent. I felt no stiffness as all when I returned home or any time afterwards. Also, I fell asleep right when I got in because I was so relaxed. Amazing place and you get much more with your massage than anywhere because of the waters.

Stop. Before you do anything else, book yourself an appointment at Body Blitz. Oh dear god, you won't regret it! I just wish I'd gone here sooner than my last day in Toronto. :-(
The good:
- AMAZING therapeutic water circuit. So good, in fact, I did it twice.
- Sauna and steam rooms that rocked my world
- Awesome Moroccan body glow treatment
- Great facilities that are clean and chock full of toiletries (i.e., body blitz-branded shampoo, conditioner, & body wash; blow dryers, deodorant, brushes, combs, hair elastics, etc.)
- Bathing suit optional. This could potentially also fall into the "bad" category, but luckily a) the spa is women only and b) I didn't see any overgrown bushes. Ahem.
- The body glow was 10,000 kinds of awesome
The bad:
- My appointment was messed up, although I'm sure someone just typed in the wrong service. They recovered nicely.
- They didn't tell me that I should have come earlier than my appointment to enjoy the water circuit (which takes an hour), so I ended up ruining my body glow by going through the water circuit after my service. #fail
- The person who showed me around did it so quickly, and as if I was inconveniencing her, that I was actually confused how things worked and had to refer to the laminated board in my locker. And I'm not dumb. #fail
- Had these things not happened, I would have given 5 stars.
Besides those small things, the actual waters are fantastic. Based on Asian and European bathouses, Body Blitz simply must not be missed. -

I have been to Body Blitz two times since May 2011 and have loved each visit. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. It is a great way to spend a few hours with your girlfriends or just some time on your own. I had a massage, hour and a half, and it was fantastic. The facilities are super clean. You can order a delicious smoothie at any point during your visit. Bathing suits are optional; some people wear them, some don't. Either way it's no big deal. You gotta try Body Blitz!

This place is the bomb. I've been here about seven times. Go now, run do not walk.
I've had the body bake which is to die for and multiple massages. All the therapists are awesome.
The water circuit is supreme. Salt water pool, steam room nice and hot, cold plunge, infrared sauna, cold plunge again, green tea soak. Very unique and best done in the nude. Until we become more liberal like the Germans with co-ed nude bathing this place will remain women only.
The smoothies and tea are served pool side. Nice touch! I love the smell of fresh lilies everywhere as well.Listed in: Best Spa

I had never been to a spa before, until my boss gave me a gift certificate to Body Blitz. To begin your treatment - whether it be an exfoliating body scrub, mud bath, massage, etc., you are taken to the Therapeutic waters, where you take yourself through a circuit of hot and cold waters and steam rooms. A completely detoxifying 45 minutes, where you basically feel drunk upon completion (when I left, I went to ride my bike home, and was so out of it, that I needed to walk it most of the way home!). My favorite stop in the 6 steps of the circuit is the Infra Red Sauna - which is 3 times the power of a regular sauna.
When you are finished the waters, you are invited to relax on the lounge chairs along the Sea Salt pool, until they are ready to bring you in for your treatment. There, you can also order an assortment of different antioxidant, detoxifying juices and teas to sip while you wait. After whatever treatment you've decided to indulge in that day, you are welcomed to go through the circuits once again when you're done. I think that I stayed for probably 2 1/2 hours, maybe longer. I never wanted to leave!
Body Blitz promotes a healthy lifestyle of organic and natural products to be drank/eaten, as well as to use on your body - you can buy their homemade body exfoliants and creams in the front lobby. The atmosphere is SO relaxing and perfect for unwinding, particularly on a Friday evening after a long work week.
Seriously, spoil yourself and go to Body Blitz. Even just to experience the waters alone, you will thank yourself, and want to come back as often as possible. -
Review from Christina S.
Body Blitz is definitely a once-in-a-while type place to visit when you're really feeling like you deserve something special, primarily because it's quite pricey, but also because you want to make sure you have the majority of your day free to take advantage of everything the spa has to offer. When I went last Summer, I spent about 4 hours there, based around a visit for a one hour massage! I spent about 45 minutes in the healing waters, ordered myself a chai tea to drink poolside, had my massage, then realized I was WAY too relaxed to face the outside world and went back into the waters for another hour. You know that chocolate bar commercial about spoiling yourself where the women stumbles out of the spa all dishevled? Well that was me.
One thing to know before going: it's women only and nakedness is common, if not encouraged. Once you get comfortable, it's pretty liberating! -

I am a university student. Going to the spa is pretty much the most amazing thing you can do while in school, aside from acing a course.
I've been to the Blue Lagoon and the Dead Sea, so I knew that going to the spa was a definite treat, but it was a big plus to discover that on Tuesdays, the entrance fee here is $38 (which is the equivalent of eating out twice).
Being a novice, I can't find much to complain about; I was happy to even have steamy glasses upon entering the lobby. The place itself is very clean, chic, and comfortable. At no point did I feel uneasy about my age, my body, or what exactly I was doing. This was a big plus.
The staff were friendly and accessible and I didn't feel bothered when they'd ask me if I needed anything. The women at the spa were nice, too, some even chatting with me for a bit. It was nice to be there with a friend but it is definitely something that can be done on your own. Both my friend and I agreed that it'd be a nice place to study, reading a book while soaking in a bath.
After soaking all day, the spa has a great vanity section with complimentary brushes, blow dryers, hair products, and lotion. I had a field day with this.
The only thing you need to bring is your bathing suit, and even that is optional. Everything else (locker, towels, bathrobes, sandals, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash) is complimentary. Hurray!
My only recommendations is that one drink be included in the price. It's a bit steep (access to the Blue Lagoon is cheaper!) and if they even tacked on an extra two dollars, it'd still be worth it. I also wished that the bathrobes didn't get soaked so easily, but they always have more.
EDIT: After talking to my friend, she complained that her rings are tarnished from the spa. The spa should make a better effort to alert patrons of this.
It's also a good idea to drink lots of water. Don't forget to do that!
I would go back in a heartbeat. -

This spa makes me want to live in Toronto!!!!
I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this place.
The bath houses in NY looks sketchy and not to mention gross! But my Toronto friend gave me a gift certificate to come here and when I checked out their website...it's nothing like the Russian Bath House NY.
This place is beautiful and not to mention serene!
They have cold plunge, Hot Green Tea dip, and Deep Sea Salt water and not to mention a sauna and a steam room.
The steam room is infused with eucalyptus.
We wanted to stay here forever and I didn't even care that my skin was all pruney and not to mention it did a number on my manicure but it didn't matter because it was all worth it!
I wanted to come back here again but too bad we had to go to some dumb bus tour!!!!
If you live in Toronto...YOU MUST CHECK THIS PLACE OUT!!!!
I am so envious that my friend lives near here. I would seriously come here everyday!!!!
Too bad I cannot find a bath house/spa as clean as this place in New York. -

So I was off on vacation this week and I decided to spoil myself with a Birthday treat to the spa. I racked my brain as to where I should go and I settled on Body Blitz. I had heard great things and had popped in once when I was in the area to have a look around.
The atmosphere is amazing and it appears as though they have kept much of the original wood and structure. The wood and brick gives a nice earthy feel and makes it very warm and homey.
I choose a body bake and went on a Wednesday a they have cheaper rates for body bakes and scrubs on that days. They also have "Cheap Tuesday" where the water therapy is $38.
I made sure to arrive 2.5 hours in advance to relax, sign in, and enjoy every aspect of the spa.
Upon arrival I was asked to fill in my health form, and then select my mud for for my body bake. They have 3 muds to choose from and the staff walks your through what each one does and the benefits. I was also asked to pic a juice from a list as a Birthday Special - but I think that everyone gets one as once I got into the spa, all the ladies had them. Not gonna lie, if I had to pay for it, I wouldn't have. I can't justify $7 for a smoothy.
You are given a tour of the spa and told about the water therapy cycle. I changed into my suit and ventured into the water room. This being a women's only spa - clothing is optional FYI.
I'm not gonna lie - the water therapy is AMAZING! I was so relaxed the the second I stepped into the water it was amazing. Before showing up I was bloated and grumpy, after one round of the water cycle I was feeling amazing and the bloating was gone.
You are to cycle through different pools of water and rooms. They include:
~ warm sea salt pool
~ hot green tea pool
~ cold plunging pool
~ aromatherapy steam room
~ infrared sauna
~ showers
Make sure that you drink lots of water and don't over exert yourself in the hot pools. The cold plunge is COLD! Not gonna lie, it takes your breath away.
I am not one for modesty - ask Vivian V, but I have to say it was a tad shocking seeing naked women. I know we all have the same parts and such, but I was just in shock. After relaxing after the first round, I took the plunge and took off my bikini and did the second round naked. It was very freeing and very liberating.
After completing the cycle for the second time I re-robed and relaxed on the lounge to wait for my next treatment.
Ann, my spa technician came to get me and lead me to the body bake room. Once again - the only thing that you wear is a disposable thong. I have to say, I know understand what my dog goes through at the groomers. You are asked to get on a table and you are sprayed down are scrubbed from head to toe. The body wash smells amazing and the glove they use to scrub is great, but it is a very weird feeling to be laying there and have this happen. Once you are scrubbed you are slathered in mud and left to bake. The body bake room is not very inviting to tell you the truth, but oh well. Over all I didn't really think that the body bake was worth the money or the time. I have had similar treatments at other spas that were much more enjoying and much more relaxing.
Over all the spa was great and is worth a try for any spa junkie. I can say for a fact that I will only be going back for the water therapy.
