i came here with my fiancee for one of the wine fairs they have every month.. we used a groupon... but if you wanted to go.. it's 25 bucks per person.. with that.. you get to taste a bunch of wine.. enough to get you pretty inebriated... we tried 19 wines.. there were some hits and misses.. but the overall experience was fantastic.. it's well worth spending a lazy saturday afternoon..

I am not a wine person, either, but if I had to spend an evening sipping vino, I would choose this place again. So, apparently the Yelp community agrees based on the plethora of 4 & 5 star reviews. So what gives? Why is this place not packed every night?

So, my wife and I went this past Saturday and there were a dozen patrons at most at any given time. We tucked ourselves into a little alcove near a window, ordered some flights and some nibbles and relaxed. Our server, Kevin, was very attentive and willing to please. At some point the owner or manager came by and explained the origin of each of our selections and provided interesting information about grape selection, fermentation, etc. Overall, it made a really cozy evening.

I think we have found the ideal place to get a glass pre-dinner or post shows, or as an activity to pass the time. Yelpers, descend upon this wonderful wine shop immediately and claim it as our very own! It would be a shame to miss such a hidden treasure.

The decor is a little confusing.  I'm not sure what to think about any of it, but any time I've been it's been great.

I definitely recommend their flights.  Very well chosen, with some gems that I've come away thinking,"i have GOT to buy that later on."  The service is great and their servers are very knowledgeable without being preachy or boring.

The standout from my last trip was the cheesecake.  The server said it's Amir's wife's homemade recipe and we were blown away.  It was delicious!  My friend mentioned that the rest of the food on their menu was as good.

Overall, this is a great little bar to sit and have a glass of wine and chat with friends.

I'm so happy we found this place on our trip to Dallas.

Amir was extremely helpful in helping us choose which wine flights we wanted to try. It's very obvious he takes as much pride in his Wine Bar as well as he does in the wines that he sells. Also considering how busy he was, he was very patient with us and friendly.

I'm a big fan! The only complaint I have is that this bar is not closer to Philadelphia! I'll be sure to make a trip back next time I'm in Dallas.

I really like this place. I agree with the other reviews. It's cozy and can be a nice little romantic spot or fun with a big group of friends.

They have an impressive wine selection and the owner, Amir, really knows wine and is unpretentious and welcoming.

I would like to see the cheese board have nuts and maybe some dried fruit but but that doesn't warrant deducting a star :).

Check it out if you haven't been :)

Something about being in a hidden, little tucked away, secret club house makes me happy. That is just what Bodega Wine Bar is. Behind a vacant liquor store, you find this place and are taken back to a dark, cool, smooth music joint. It is almost like a speakeasy feel. That is always fun. The decor is as if you are in Rick's Cafe Americain in Casablanca complete with Moroccon-looking props. Barrels of wine, some thatched-hut booths for seating and what looks like wall-paper dating back to the 1940's.

The wine list is extensive and the servers are very friendly and honest about their wine selection. What their favorite wine is, what they suggest for our mood, and what they just simply don't like.

It is a great place for a pre or post dinner date drink. It's quite the romantic getaway in the middle of uptown Dallas.

I really like Bodega. It's a great place to go for a pre-dinner cocktail if you are over near Knox or Travis or to post up for the night with a nice bottle of wine.

It's dark and cozy and has lots of loungey areas with couches. You can pick up a bottle in the wine market in front or order off the menu. We always get a bottle so our glasses don't run dry, but the wait staff is still very friendly and will re-fill your glass whenever they come by.

It's usually not too crowded... I think people forget it's back there! Too bad for them, this one is a winner.

I really, really like this place. I DO frequent the wine bars a lot and this is one of my favs! I have not yet been as a random wanderer - only for events, but I keep meaning to come in just to have drinks after dinner one night.  I can't comment on prices or selection since most of the time I'm here for something where they just walk around and pour wine freely.

The location is great, there are several great restaurants within walking distance so it's perfect for before or after dinner drinks.  Its really cool inside, has the feel of almost a cellar deep inside a castle, but still very warm and inviting. There are lots of nooks and crannies, a few different spaces all connected, which make it a perfect place for a party.

The lighting is low, the seating ample and luxurious, so it can be romantic for just the two of you, or equally as fun for a group. For some reason I've only been when it's cold, it's so cozy and nice inside - but they do have an extensive patio so it would be fun for warm weather also.

Definitely going to add this to my date nite list and hope to make it over there more often!

This place is a hidden jewel! The wine list is creative & never ending. Thinking we had a good knowledge of wine, we went in for a tasting. The tasting was made exclusively to our wine liking. We left statified and smarter! Possibly a little tipsy, but it's all in the sacrifice of wine tasting. Please don't judge me.
The ambiance is perfect for an intimate evening, or just to check out someplace different. The owner, I forget your name (sorry), but he was extremely helpful & great to learn from Thank you for our wine tasting 101! We'll be back!

This place is very unpretentious and quaint.  I was not expecting such knowledgeable people but the one man operation is fantastic.  And the waitress, I cannot for the life think of her name was awesome with the wine help.  She spent the last 3 years in Napa and learned her shiznit!  The cheese plates were great too and the chevre that we got was so good my partner who hates goat cheese even liked it!  Great place to start the evening off!

This place is sort of tucked away in a corner of uptown. It feels very comfortable and private. Atmosphere is romantic and quiet so this place would be a perfect place to have a conversation with your loved ones or date if you really want to get to know them.

They also offer great foods and deserts made from scratch. The servers are very friendly and helpful in selecting the wine and didn't make me feel stupid for not knowing much about wine.

I had a great time here and will go back again!

    What a total charm!!

A group of ladies came to Bodega for my boyfriend's cousins 21st birthday. She had already celebrated crazy style with friends and wanted low key with family. Well low key it was. This place was empty when we arrived at 9. We had a reserved table and were seated right away. Our waitress explained how everything works and we ordered some flights and 2 bottles. She was very friendly, attentive and impressive. She remembered all our wine and food orders...without writting them down. Pssh, I cant even remember to lock my doors half the time sister.

We also got an array of appetizers like crab cakes, bruschetta (must try, so ballin' we ordered a second plate), goat cheese croquettes, cheese tray, wedge salad and fries. If you couldn't tell, we were starving!

As the night wore on more couples trickled in. This is definatly a hot spot for a date....even a first date, as the couple behind us were (yup, we were listening/creeping on their ackward 1st date convo). I can't wait to take my boyfriend to Bodega, I know he's going to love it!!!

WHY don't more people patronize this place?  In the handful of times I've been here, it's always been very empty.  It's awesome, so I don't understand it!  Maybe because it's tucked away within Travis Walk and I'm not sure that there's a sign visible from the street...but anyway, you should definitely check it out.

The good side is all the wines I've tried here have been very good, and dare I say, interesting.  Not your run of the mill wines, from my limited knowledge.  I think they do a good job with their descriptions and the servers are really attentive and know their stuff.  Previously I had only ordered by the glass, but on my most recent visit, my friend and I tried a few of the flights and they were really enjoyable, each wine more exciting than the last!

My only complaint is that they're not too generous with samples if you want to try before you buy.  And the food's ok but nothing I've tried has been terribly special so I tend to drink here and eat elsewhere.

The ambience totally makes up for all this, though.  It's OH so cozy and European and truly feels like a wine cellar.  I love all the luxurious fabrics!!  The candles make for excellent mood lighting as well if you're trying to make a move on that special someone.  It's got a lot more character than most other wine bars and I definitely think it should be way more popular than it seems to be...but hey, it's nice to know I have such an awesome wine bar within walking distance when I need a quiet escape!

I thought it appropriate to make my first Yelp review my favorite place in Dallas.

As a wine lover, that is Bodega's main draw, but without the amazing atmosphere and variety of wines at a range of prices I would prefer to sit at home and drink the wine of my choice..

Being able to select a wine from the Chateau Wine Market and take it into the bar is what really gets me.. not to mention that the owner, Ameir, is extraordinarily knowledgeable and passionate about wine.
Tell him what you like as far as flavor and price, and he will give you a suggestion you will love!

He just opened a great restaurant upstairs so lately he spends slightly less time in the Wine Market, but the rest of the staff is equally pleasant. In fact, many of them have worked there or for the family for an insane amount of time. To me that spells good people!!

Besides the wine and staff, another thing that makes Bodega so great is the awesome atmosphere.. It feels like a dark castle sort of.. its not "too dark" however.. there is not a thing I would change about the seating, lighting or decor.. very cozy couches to curl up in.

All of it equates to a rather luxurious feel, without being forced to spend a ton, as wines start as low as $20ish/ bottle.

If you get on the email list, you will get access to the numerous wine tasting events that Ameir has.. I've been to one and although it was not my proudest moment in regard to NOT blacking out, it was rather enjoyable. I would make the suggestion, however, that you do not go on an empty stomach, as it may result in the owner and staff seeing you in a rather embarrassing state..

As for me, they are really cool there.. and after a couple weeks of dodging the place.. it was like it never happened. As I said.. good people.

Another point of pleasure for me is knowing that shady people are not the norm in terms of patrons.. Going out in Dallas, you can expect to run into lots of people that you'd rather shy away from, but at Bodega its more of a laid back, yet slightly higher quality crowd.

I get the vibe that most people there are coming to enjoy wine, friends, and perhaps one of their amazing cheese platters (as opposed to trying to look cool, get obliterated, and find someone to hook up with).

So if you are looking for a fun place to hang with friends without having to deal with overcrowding, poor service, or lack of wine selection Bodega is amazing!

As soon as you walk in the door you know you're going to enjoy yourself. A relaxing fountain welcomes you to choose from the ample seating available. Their wine list is extensive and the owner is extremely knowledgeable about everything they have to offer. The combination of the wine, service, and atmosphere make this one of my new favorite spots.

Ambiance. Wine selection. Swank. Pretension. Comfort. Dark. Textures. Wood. Character.

Like so many imbibers before me on this review board, I can't speak highly enough of this place--it's just... *cool* without being overdone.

The wine shop in the front has one of the best selections in the area, and the back is, well, the perfect place to relax, shmooz, hobnob, court, seduce, relate, talk--you name it.

Dash over and grab a great Malbec and maybe smoke a cigar in the back room.

If you are looking for a wine cellar feel in Dallas that doesn't require slipping the maitre d' $100, this is the place for you.  Originally the backroom of the Chateau Wine Market, this little wine bar has come into its own.  It has its own entrance now and keeps hours more in line with the night scene.

It has a dark, cellar feel and has several funky and discreet seating areas to escape to.  Bodega generally carries twenty or more wines available by the glass, and its connection to the adjacent wine market creates an opportunity for a much broader selection by the bottle.

The bar has an assortment of basic food including cheese plates and paninis for basic munching.  The owner also runs Ari's Wine Bistro above, so you can round out your experience with a full meal.

This location's best use, in my opinion, as a great spot to host a private party.

What a perfect meeting point for a bunch of old friends in town for the Holidays.  It's so unique, and everything a wine bar should be as far as knowledge from the staff, to music that's not too loud, and a great atmosphere that is conducive to conversation yet still fun wherever you choose to sit.  We opted for the cozy couches behind the bar area and we all looked great in the dim light until the flashes went off with pictures I'm not sure any of us want to share : D

I see this as a date night favorite or laid back group get together from here on out.  The atmosphere sets the tone so well that you'll want to stick around and sip, swirl, and pretend like you know all of that wine etiquette type of stuff.  Even though I was with a raughty (sp?/word?) bunch we were all having a blast amongst others in a subdued fashion.  How appropriately fun : D.

I didn't pay attention to the bar enough to notice if they serve beer as well, but we all had the wine love.  They have some great bottles for sale in the front area that's a store.  There is nothing Un-upscale about the place, but they are friendly and it's not intimidating even if you don't know your Merlow from your elbow ;)  It's not cheap, but they'll certainly let you taste before you purchase that glass that seems to give you a better buzz than the white zin that's Pink.  I'll never get that.

It's not necessarily the American way to have one after dinner drink and call it a night after a good meal, but if you want to do just that, this is your place.  My resolution is to have some more good times here in the New Year with plenty of Tannins that are good for ya : D

I read the reviews of Bodega before adding it to our "wine bars to try" list and thought it sounded fantastic...maybe I missed something when we went last Friday but it just didn't do anything for me.  Yes it has a cellar atmostphere but even with the dim lighting it just looked fake.  The wines by the glass seemed limited (only one dessert wine?  no ports?)  and the dessert we were craving at this point of the evening was not fulfilled with the fresh-from-Kroger chocolate cake that was brought out (still cold, I hate that, OK if you refrigerate your desserts but please warm them up prior to delivery!).

It was 1130 on a friday night and the only 10 people in the place didn't seem interested in anyone but themselves.  So, no good interaction to add an extra star.  Sigh.  However, I like the idea of Bodega Bar, so I will try it again!

As far as I'm concerned, this is the best wine bar in DFW. My brother is in the business & discovered this treasure of a hidden wine bar after being disappointed in several other wine bars that fell flat. I have also visited some other places, & find myself wishing I was back @ Bodega Bar. Amier, the owner is wonderful-extremely humble & always smiling-if it is education you are looking for, he has a plethora of information. Or, if he knows your palate, and you don't want to have to think about it, he is great @ doing the choosing for you, in line with whatever your price point may be. The staff is amazing-Stephanie also has a great knowledge of wine, & a great dry sense of humor. Pepe, the waiter/cook/concierge :) is a staple @ Bodega. He has been working for the family for 20 years & goes above & beyond to make you feel comfortable. Also, you probably haven't been in a more visually pleasing bar in your life. The water wheel in the main room is only surpassed by the magnificent lions guarding the beautifully carved ornate wooden fireplace & the large oak barrels above the bar go perfectly with the lovely crystal chandeliers in the cellar, which is visible through huge glass windows in the back room. Last but not least, the music selection is great! Perfect variety! I'll be a regular as long as Bodega Bar is here!

I took a sip of this place and found the atmosphere darkly elegant with a hint of Bohemian sweetness. Sadly, the service- or lack thereof- left my palate with a vinegary taint and hints of Highland Park spoilage. I was looking for a place to bring a group of friends from Holland for a celebration but was ignored for 25 minutes while the manager hovered over three customers- the only three in the place- without acknowledging me in any way. When I first walked in, I was excited about the prospect of bringing a date to this intimate place. But this beautiful bottle of a bar is sadly filled with bitter dregs, vinted with inhospitable indifference. Feh.

The Bodega Bar (BB) is a great place to spend some time with friends over a bottle of wine where you can catch up. For me it's a top notch alternative to the loud bars around Dallas where you'll spend your time getting cheap beer and blurry phone numbers. The bar is part of what used to be Chateau Wine (now closed).
It is a dark room that is made to look like a cellar with waterfalls and private semi-enclosed rooms to watch as people pass. BB usually has a impressive staff, and wine list to boot. Make sure to stop by for some great memories.
I'll give BB 3 stars because I would like them to get rid of their loud music; I come here to get away from having to scream at the people standing right next to me. I would also like a few small options for cheese/or fruits. They had this at one point but seem to have done away with it. This I a great option for anyone in the area to walk to so they can have a pre/post dinner drink. Lastly I would like to see more recommendations from the servers. They should always have a new wine, and a bit of history to go with the wine ready to go. All in all this one of the spots I never miss in Dallas; make sure you don't.

At least this wine bar was open, unlike the one around the corner from this place...  seriously is Primos the only hopping place to go on Tue-nite in Uptown?  The wine list was so limited... that I wanted to walk out, but it would have been so noticeable since we were the main customers in there... beside two other people... that the bartender apparently knew.  There was no music to drown out the loud obnoxious patrons at the other end of the tiny bar.  The only saving grace was the woman behind the bar pouring the flight of wine that we ordered, was friendly.

I don't frequent wine bars often, but this place is hands down one of my favorites.  I think they expanded, or either I was just too drunk to realize how big the place really is.  The last time I went we had to go through the wine store to get in.  Now they have a door off to the side.  This place is cozy.  The dark wood, the red couches, the water fall in the back, the candles.  It all makes for a relaxing/romantic time.  I'm not too knowledgably on wine, but the selection they have is pretty extensive.  We settled on the house sauvignon blanc last night, which was excellent.  Our waitress was awesome and attentive.  Granted there were only a few other people in the place.  I've been here before to grab a glass of wine and to smoke a cigar.  They let you do that in the back room.  I don't know jack about cigars, but the person that waited on us was really helpful in selecting one.  Overall Bodega Bar feels like a hidden gem off Travis Street.  I recommend that everyone check it out sometime.

Walking through the Chateau Wine Market I heard the lull of sensuous rhythm and beats coming from the Bar in the back.  After buying the bottle up front the stale cigar smoke air and dark leathery couches along with a fireplace peaked my senses.  The music very appropriate for the atmosphere-not to loud so you can actually have a conversation.  The crowd seemed a bit uncomfortable in their own skin-trying to be something they were not day to day-but we're in Dallas.  The waitstaff was helpful and energetic but we didn't feel rushed or hurried as we had the best seat in the house on a Saturday night.  They also have rooms you can rent out and they offer tasting parties etc. Great atmosphere- maybe open a window to let some of the cigar smoke out?   I will definitely be back here!
