Regular Saturday afternoon: purchasing my own coffee and having Jill "Seven Letter Savant" M. crush me at Scrabble, using words like zarf and qua.

Board Game Olympics: Coffee on Ben, and with a big assist from Vanessa J., we manage to take down the champ.  Well... in one game.  Need I say more?  :)

I love board games but I don't often get the chance to play them so this was a perfect outing for me.

The space at uncommon grounds was great and they were very accommodating to us.

I got to play three rounds of scrabble and even though I was a little rusty since I haven't played a game since August it was still fun times.

A visit from Nelson was awesome of course. I really enjoyed the first round and plan to make it out to as many board game events as I can.

I had a great time at this first event and can't wait for the next one. The Board Game Olympics was a fantastic idea and makes for a great Saturday afternoon.

There were several bars I really enjoyed in other cities that offered board game nights and I am happy to see an event like this here in Hali. Thanks Ben!

So, I'm a pretty big - OK, I'm a huge board games nerd. And Scrabble? Well, it's one of my favorites. I play all the time with my boyfriend or my mom, but it was really fun to get together with a few Yelpers at my favorite local coffeeshop to play a few games.

Admittedly, I'm pretty competitive and enjoy reading rules allowed, but it was nice to discover that I'm not alone in that! I can't wait for round two, and hope to make it out to as many of these events as possible this year!

Growing up, board games were a regular family activity, and since becoming an adult, it's harder to find willing friends to indulge in the good ol' board games. Naturally, the idea of a year-long Board Game Olympics sounds fantastic!

This yelp event was a perfect intro to what I'm sure will become a hotly contested series of events throughout the year. The vibe was awesome, the game choice was fantastic, and the spirt was friendly with just a dash of competitiveness. (We know who the Type-A's are....).

Bring on round 2! (Because, seriously, I need to up my score.)

I love board games. At home we have a collection that rivals a small toy store. I also love spelling, so Scrabble was a great first choice. Uncommon Grounds had more than enough room and caffeine for us. The competition was friendly but very tough! I really enjoyed talking to and getting to know many of my fellow Yelpers I've seen at events and online.

I can't wait til the next event! :D

My typical Saturday night out usually involves tea and lots of board games.  So this?  This is my dream Yelp event.

Scrabble isn't my strongest game.  I always got my butt kicked when I played with my mom, and I don't have many friends that like the game.  So it was fun to get out and play with others who do like the game and play often, even if I didn't get anywhere near the top score.  Bonus?  Nelson the Hal-Con mascot made an appearance to kick us off.

I have a feeling it's going to be an awesome year of board games.  Bring it.  I've got my game face on.

After dedicating my Friday night to goading my friends into playing board games with me, I couldn't have been happier for an afternoon of scrabble with a roomful of willing participants. Much the same as the other reviewers, I've always been a bit of a board game junkie - and aggressively competitive. In other words, this yelp event was perfect for me.

Great choice on the location, and I couldn't have asked for better company. I'm already excited to trek to the North End for the event next month!
