In spite of the BMW name, BMW Durham still, to me, epitomizes all the negative connotations that go with the term "car salesman". I had been toying with the idea of purchasing an SUV and on a whim visited Durham BMW about an hour before closing time. There were no other cars parked in the customer lot and I pulled into the front spot in my jeep, wearing jeans and a t-shirt. Not the usual this-is-what-I-wear-when-I-want-decent-customer-se rvice-from-morons dress code. Needless to say, the saleswoman could hardly bring herself to field any questions let alone let me take a car for a test drive. I asked a few questions she could not answer and "had to check on". After giving her both a contact phone # and e-mail, I didn't hear from her again... Until... Several months later, I had found a great sales guy (he was new and as yet unjaded) who gave me everything I needed to know. Can you believe the original saleswoman then tried to lay claim to me as a customer! Because she recognized me and saw I was preparing to putchase a $100k vehicle, she actually tried to wave off saleman #2 telling him that since she originally "served" me, she should just finish the deal!! Can you say Kanye West video extra?!?! Caveat emptor. A car salesman's a car salesman no matter how nice the vehicle. What a shame. PS. Post-purchase service consistent with above service. 3 times back in the shop in as many months. Nothing major, but all things a conscientious service department should have caught. Especially with all the self-aggrandizement these guys dish out.
