Review from Michelle Y.
If you love tea, you need to check out this place.
There were so many jars of little dried tea leaves that i hadnt even heard of, but was willing to try.
I was first introduced to this place by a family friend who had spend much of her time in Europe teaching and learning about the culture.
She got me hooked onto some of the teas and taught me how to drink it, what to drink it with and gave me a few recommendations.
So I had a good idea of what i want and what i expect from this, but the owner just took it over the top. He knows everything there is to know about tea, and picked out a few for me after hearing what i was looking for.
Definitely check this place out if you are in the city! -

Great selection of black, green and rooibos teas. My usual tea place is Silk Road in Victoria, but I don't get over there very often. The Lapsang Souchong will always be my fave tea and for those who are scared of this smoky cup of paradise, the variation at Blue Teapot is quite subdued and not as overwhelming as Silk Road's. They also have some great gifts like one of a kind mugs, and some nice tea stuff. Actual worth the trip to Lonsdale if you are in the area.

Okay I'll admit I'm no tea connoisseur. I usually go for what sounds like it would taste good; you know the orange coconut sounds-like-a-dessert kind a thing.
Last summer opened my eyes. On a trip over to Lonsdale Quay Market I was impressed with a little shop filled with tins and jars full of dried concoctions.
The owner, the opposite of me was like a tea god. After deciding in my head that the wife could use a little gift I dove in to the tea picking.
The owner picked out 5 or so tins for me to waft and continued to make suggestions based on my likes. He truly knows what he's talking about.
For those of you more worldly they have a bar of the different "elements" of tea. Allowing you to choose your likes and build on them; creating a custom tea.
Thanks for opening up my eyes. Blue Teapot had the customer service and product to make it worth a stop and every seabus ride there after. -

Ok, my husband and I were the "two friends" that Honey O mentioned in her previous review. We were there the first time hrmm around 2007? In our recent trip, August 2010, we stopped by this cute little tea shop again. I am happy to say that the shop was still as impressive as three years ago. We didn't see the shop owner there this time though. His associate was there, but just as friendly.
Wanting to travel light, I didn't buy anything this time (though Honey ended up dropping another $300 or so worth of tea to be shipped back). I saw a few "sectional mugs" and tea pots that I "alomst" caved in to buy. But I thought, well I will just wait and buy them when I get home, surely, there is a tea place near where I live then I don't have to worry about breaking the mugs/tea pots.
I was wrong.... I couldn't find anything close to what I wanted in the tea shop near where I live... -

Finally got another chance to visit the Blue Teapot- I made a beeline to the Blue Teapot right after lunch and knowing that I am going to order the Earl Grey Creme tea- 1 kg of it. Well- lets just say that they have new additions in the past 3 years and I just had to try them all. I loved the store made shipping back to US a BREEZE. You pay for the items and that's it.
Besides 12+ varieties of tea I got this time, I also got 2 tea pots and they arrived in US- safe and sound (they're carefully wrapped and packaged) and ON TIME (the owner promised me it'd arrive in 1 week and it did). And the owner even threw in 2 bags of complimentary tea leaves as well- it's sweet and I would say it's always a pleasure to do business with him. I'll be back!1 Previous Review: Show all »

Sure, the Blue Teapot has many great teas but they also have the biggest AND cheapest selection of Dunoon China tea mugs. I have one that is tall with an outward curve at the top. No drips! One is the human body- skeleton and muscles. Another is of medical herbs. Cats, Christmas, dogs - normal but they have them too.

I came across this tea shop as I was showing my fiancé around Lonsdale Quay. It's a cute little shop located upstairs and run by a friendly and helpful owner. He answered our questions and let us smell the teas. In the end, we bought some Mangosteen flavoured green tea and Rooibos Surprise (a nice combination of rooibos, coconut, pepper and red currants) which has instantly become my favourite! It's nice to know that if I run out of tea before my next trip to the coast, I can always order some online at http://www.blueteapot.com.

If you are a lover of tea, and see tea drinking as a way of life or as a statement of personal style, you'll be happy to come to the North Shore to find The Blue Teapot. They carry a truly lovely line of colourful ceramic teapots along with a full range of cast iron teapots in addition to mugs, teacups, but the piece de resistance is, perhaps, the selection of tea infusions. Come here if you are looking for bulk teas like rooibos, honey rooibos...or just about anything you could dream up to infuse. Wonderful to have such tea luxuries on a chilly, rainy day.
