I love this place. Working a block away, I come here often. The service is awesome, food is always great, and for how busy they get at lunch I never have to wait too long!

My only recommendation/complaint: Have more & better beers on tap! Every once and awhile there's a winner, but it will go away so fast! I would love it if they had a steady classic beer (such as Blue Moon... how fitting that would be...), and then some rotationals. It's so up in the air if they are going to have something that I'll want to drink sometimes, it makes me not want to show up if I'm just going for beers.

I've been here twice now. Perhaps my expectations are too high I don't know. I was expecting to be wowed and the burger was just OK. The first time I did a regular burger with fries. The second time I did a spicy burger with half fries, half rings.
The burger was pretty generic and I didn't much care for the bun of which there was a lot. The second time, the burger was better but the frings consisted of two (count them) rings and fries.
    I don't think I'll be going again.

My store decided to try these guys out for a small meeting of ours. Their website showed reasonable prices, great ingredients, and they had vegetarian and GF options for those with food restrictions.

Verdict? Inexpensive and edible, but nothing worth writing home about. Portions were small compared to the misleading info/photos on the website. The GF buns were tiny (which can be overlooked since most GF bread is) and soggy. The salmon patties are clearly the frozen variety from a box. The fries were soggy and oily.

In regards to service..we did to-go, but our order was missing several side orders, and several items were labeled incorrectly (or not at all) which seemed odd given the order was for less than 7 people.

Overall, decent burgers for the price, but we won't be back; there are better food options in the area.

    Update:
Uh OH! This just in - A fellow yelper (Alexander R.) just informed me that the black bean patty at Blue Moon is in fact NOT gluten free. He says that the veggie patty is, but not the black bean. Darn it, I still love you Blue Moon, but that's just too bad.

First off, if you are going for the waffle fries, save a trip, they don't have them anymore.  It looks like they decided regular fries and tater-tots were enough choices, and stopped carrying Waffle Fries.  For me, this is a deal breaker, and I won't be back.  There are dozens of places in Seattle that serve a burger just as good as the Blue Moon, so when they take away the one distinguishing menu item, there's no reason for me to make the effort to come to Blue Moon over someone else. YMMV.

When I stopped in the Lake Union shop last night for dinner, aside from the fry disappointment, the first thing I noticed was that unlike every other time I have come by during the dinner hour, the place was completely empty.  For a good 20 minutes, I was the only customer in the place.  I should have taken that as a warning sign that they have fallen from grace for a reason.

I won't be going back any time soon.

Our first time here today for lunch. Great burgers, real shakes, and pretty good fries. I was disappointed with the ambience. I expected more than the fast food walk up to order. They really need to lose the grunge rock music!!

Always great burgers. Really good. But every time I come here the service is lacking. One time I waited in line for 45 minutes as one persons order was taken every 4 or 5 minutes. That was because 3 orders of around 25 burgers each came in from Amazon and Microsoft as office runs. Tonight I ordered online, and of course their fax machine was broken so I had to try and remember the burger I built online, and wait for them to make it. But first I had to wait for the waitress to arrive... Wow. Consistently slow and disappointing service. Good burgers though.

Disgusting greasy nasty fries, and burgers, I wish I could post pictures. I turned a paper bag into an oil soaked rag just by dumping my fries out.

I work in the area and bought food for my entire crew there and not one person out of 10 want to go back.  60 days passes and we did it again. My bad!  Even more disgusting.

Oh and at $10.00 a burger you'd think we could finish them.

I have been there several times and was so excited initially with the offering of grass fed beef. Finally, I thought. However, the burgers have always been hit or miss. Please note that the fries have always been awful - little nibby things like pathetic anemic, little toes.

The reason for the severely low rating however (and not just a moderate rating, despite the shitty ambience) is that a friend of mine went recently and ordered a standard burger - after 20 minutes, she got a cold burger with a tiny patty and overwhelming amounts of condiments minus any veggies. She took it take out and had to throw the burger away.

She called to let them know they made a mistake and they didn't answer the phone. She left a message but they never even bothered to call her back.

Shame on you - Blue Moon Burgers for promising but not keeping.

Last night a group of us from the UDUB were studying at this location. The service is basically one stout red-faced guy with a really good attitude running the show. I had tatertots and a blue hawaiian burger. They were both good. There is alcohol available as well if you're a beer fan. I liked the tots more than the burger. In general I like tots over anything. Overall, it was clean, not too busy and study friendly. Great food.

Blue Moon Burgers had been on my visit list for awhile. During a discussion about burgers in Seattle (and the lack of good ones), Blue Moon Burger tweeted I needed to try them, as did another person in the area. Maybe before we went, I should have tweeted we were going and that it had been talked up because maybe then our experience would have rated decent instead of awful.

We walked in and I was surprised at the amount of space. There is a lot of space and a lot of tables, although the seating is arranged oddly. It seems like they want you to put tables together and take them apart to suit your needs. It was cold in the lower area, which I attributed to being near the door. But after sitting in an area directly under a heating vent, I came to the conclusion that they didn't have the heat on during a sub 40ºF day.

We ordered. We were ready to order and the cashier couldn't quite keep up with us. He was rather snotty, actually, not having any rapport with customers. We ordered a root beer float, a peanut butter shake; sides: rings, fries, and tots; two Diablo Azul, one as is and one without the jalapeno peppers, a plain as you can get cheeseburger, and a house salad.

We found seats. And waited. We had a rather long wait for the type of burger joint it is. I know it isn't fast food, but when you sit down with 5 tables of people, and only 1 has food, you know you are in trouble. On a Sunday night, they need more than one guy taking orders, making shakes and floats, and getting orders to the table. Seemed like they only had one guy in the kitchen, too. I could be wrong about that, but for the wait we had, if they had more than one, they should be ashamed with the length of time it took and the quality of food they produced.

We waited over 10 minutes just for the shake and float to come out. These were not $3.99 size float and shakes. They are the size of a small shake at McDonald's. They were good, but not really special. And then we waited a long time more for more of our food. The 3 burgers, salad, tots and fries came out.

When we ordered, we asked about the size of the sides. He said they were a good size that multiple people could eat. Since we were planning to share 3 sides, and several of us are trying to eat less, this did work, but these were really individual servings. Don't think 2 people would share a side this size any where else in the U.S. The tots were okay. They weren't outstanding, but they weren't awful. We had mix reviews on the fries. Personally, 5 Guys fries are much better, but another person said they liked these better and the rest of the peanut gallery did not voice an opinion either way. You might notice, I didn't mention the onion rings. Because they didn't come out with the order. I saw them in the window from just about the time the server/cashier turned away with our order until after the server/cashier served 3 other tables and we were mostly done with our food. I went up to the guy and asked if our onion rings were coming. He said he was bringing them out next because they just came up. (Um, no, I'm not blind and I saw them sitting there in the window for awhile.) When they finally came out, there were 4 on this $3.49 side. This seems really overpriced. They were good onion rings. They are my favorite way to have onion rings.

Moving onto the "main" items. I asked for a vinaigrette. The dressing was nasty. The salad was hugely lacking and a big disappointment after seeing the online menu. False advertising. The best rating the burgers got was okay. For one person, the patty itself was *the worse burger he had ever had.* The patties were thin and beef jerky-like. These are nowhere near the top of burgers in Seattle.

This place wouldn't last a day in beef country. Don't waste your time and money.

So I haven't actually been there but my fiance brought dinner home from there the other night. I would have given them 5 stars because they offer a gluten free bun that tastes like the real thing. The reason why I am only giving 4 is because they messed up on what I wanted in my burger :(

I really wanted to like Blue Moon Burgers but the combination of food and service was subpar.  The concept is nice and they serve grassfed beef and all natural chicken and salmon.

In Building Your Own Burger- Start with your bun and work your way down. This is the fun part of making sure you get what you like...

Buns: Brioche, Potato Square, Gluten Free, Wheat

Protein: Beef, Grilled Chicken Breast, Turkey Patty, Salmon Patty, Black Bean Garden Patty, Seasonal Vegetable Patty

Cheese: American, Bleu, Cheddar, Pepper Jack, Swiss, Beechers White Cheddar

Additions: Fried Egg, Grilled Onions, Chili , Jalapeno Bottle Caps, Peanut Butter, Apple Smoked Bacon, Portabella Mushroom, Jalapenos, Pico De Gallo, Pineapple

Sauces: 1000 Island, Stone Ground Mustard, Barbecue, Ranch, Buffalo, Tartar, Honey Mustard, Bleu Cheese, Teriyaki.

    ORDERED:

Deluxed Grilled Cheese Sammie - Above average grilled cheese could use more cheese and more butter on the bread but enjoy the flavors of the melted cheese, grilled onions, and tomatoes in the middle.

Portabeela Mushroom Burger - Need more meat ratio of the bun...too much bread. The Portabeela Mushroom was cook nicely but the meat being dry and not enough of it ruin it for me.

Half & Half of Onions Rings and Fries - Huge onion rings but too much breading and some of the fries was too greesy. I do like the dipping sauce.

SPECIALS: I like the every changing burger & shakes of the month that offers of Pumpkin Shakes, Old School specials Sloppy Joe and PB&j shake. And the New Burger with bacon, fried jalapeno poppers, pepper. You can find out more on their twitter, facebook or website.

OVERALL -  I feel Wednesday is the best day to try this place out since you can get half off after 4pm because I had better burgers at other places, not the best but not the worst. At this location, the service was slow, food takes long time to get to you, and it is bad when the cashier is complaining about working there.

Pro Tip: You can enjoy their burgers at just 50% the cost every Wednesday after 4:00 p.m.  Just purchase any side order or beverage, & they cut the burger cost right in half.  $1 off all beer and wine between 4-6 pm every day.

I visited this location on May 6th, 2012 around 6PM. My friend and I were looking for a place to eat together in the South Lake Union area and I had heard great things about the Fremont location. I also recently found out I have a gluten allergy and was excited to learn that Blue Moon Burgers accommodates to the GF diet. The food was okay, nothing to really rave or complain about. However, there was not a single clean table in the restaurant, which I regret not noticing before having placed my order. (At the South Lake location, customers order at the counter as opposed to being seated with a menu, which I was also disappointed about, but thought I should give it a chance). My friend and I ended up settling for a less-dirty table. We were there for about 45 minutes and did not see anyone clean a single table the entire time. I wanted to complain about the lack of cleanliness but was frustrated at the thought of having to point out the condition of the restaurant. I was embarrassed about taking my friend there and will not be returning.

I have been here 4 times, and each time I have ordered the Blue Shroom. All but the last time was it very good. The last time it was just ok, and I think that had to do with the cook. The shakes are pretty good and the tater tots are decent.

I had the grilled cheese sandwich and fries. While they were both fine, I was not impressed. The grilled cheese was a bit heavy on the butter and left me feeling greasy. The fries were ok, they weren't thin or thick cut - just pretty much in the middle.

I'd go back and try a shake, or the onion rings, but probably not any time soon.

The first time I went and was very disappointed.  They were out of strawberry shake so I had raspberry.  It was pretty good, but it came in a small cup.  Then they said they  lost my order and would comp my meal.  When I told them I used a coupon they ended up not comping it and the wait to get my meal was about ~45 with the long lunch hour lines.  I had a custom burger where I tried the fried egg, but it was too greasy for me.

My friend had a coupon so I went back for another try.  I ordered the Code Blue.  It was okay, but the peanut butter on it was gross.  I also ordered a root beer float which had no high fructose corn syrup advertised.  They gave me a small paper cup of ice cream and told me to go to the pop machine which I think did have this syrup.  I could barely put any pop in it.  This was horrible for ~$4 drink.  They have some interesting burgers of the month and a happy hour 1x/week, but I'm not rushing to go back at this pricey place.

Blue Moon appears to be a cult burger joint that I never had step foot into before.

After a really long night, I decided I wanted to have a greasy burger and this location near work came to mind.

Their website showed that they had an online ordering service which I thought was a nice feature. You can place your order online and then show up to pickup and skip all the lines.

My co-worker and I arrived a little before 11:30am and boy did we miss the rush! Shortly after we placed our order, 12 ppl showed up in line to place theirs. I have no idea where they were hiding but it was as if a school bell had rung.

Prices were a bit on the high side ($10+ for a burger, fries & water). The burger itself was a bit on the dry side and not super greasy like I thought they would be. The fries were just okay; not super salty or greasy either.

Not bad if you are wanting a 'fancy' burger but I guess I'm still a lover of sometimes just a super greasy burger!

i'm sorry guys, I have to update my thoughts about Blue Moon after the majority of my recent visits have left me sad and angry.

I always make sure I get to BM before 11:30 just so my order doesn't take too longer to get, I feel like maybe they won't rush through making my food and everything will be ok. This doesn't seem to be the case.

I ordered a chicken burger and half of it wasn't even cooked thoroughly! I carefully cut my way through the breast piece to try and salvage what was still edible :(

I'd say the last 4 out of 5 burgers I've gotten haven't been cooked  all the way either. They end up way too pink.

It also looks like they've changed their bun supplier recently :(  I LOVE Macrina buns. It was like 40% of the reason why i kept coming back. But just last week I got my burger and noticed that I had a sesame, wheat bun :(  It was sooo dry and boring.

i don't know if we can ever fix our relationship Blue Moon, you've done me wrong too many times *pout*

(side note: I'm sure you're thinking, "why not just ask for a new burger?", I always take my food back to my desk, it's just not worth it to hike all the way back to the restaurant and try to fix the issue)

I had half a salad and the last bit of my friend's strawberry shake here.  Both were delicious.  Just too much bacon in the salad and I only needed half the dressing they provided--thank god I asked for dressing on the side.

    That's right. No burger.

I tried to order it from the kids' menu but I guess he didn't hear me.  That, or he did, but was trying to prevent a near 30 year old adult from ordering food meant for a child.  Boo.

I was not impressed with Blue Moon Burgers and next time I'll go a couple of blocks away to Lunchbox Lab.

    Pros:
    -Nice decor
    -lots of seating
    -clean.

    Cons:
    -Long, slow line.
    - We ordered a waffle cut fry to share, and they ended up charging us for 2 (we did get 2, but couldnt eat the second one as it was so greasy and we were full). We couldnt tell they charged us for 2 until we got it because they didnt give us an itemized receipt.
-The waffle cut fries had zero Parmesan on them like the menu said it would
-the beef burger (custom) and the Cajun burger were both very dry

Maybe I'm just getting old and over the hipster over-indulgence aesthetic. Maybe my palate is getting too sensitive to salt and fat.

The husband and I stopped by to split a burger on a Sunday afternoon. We ordered a Blue Mushroom burger, a side of half and half (rings and fries), a shake and a beer.  The price was similar to that of Lunchbox (e.g. pricey) but Blue Moon had a slight advantage on the portion sizes.

The beef was good but I wish they could have worked out the overall seasoning. The patty was under-seasoned, the bacon was over-salty but it just came off as salty. Bits of bacon IN the patty might have been great. On its own it was a pretty good burger.

Grease-wise, the Macrina bun held up very well even when we didn't get to it a good 10 minutes after it arrived at our table. There was definitely drippage but it was manageable even for someone as sandwich-challenged as me. It was assembled very well so little pieces would fall out but there was minimal slippage.

I had a strawberry shake that was flavored with syrup instead of strawberry unless I was missing the strawberry chunks. It was sweet.

The service was quick a friendly.

Most of you have noticed by now that Blue Moon has jacked up their prices. I can deal with that.

Some of you might have noticed that Blue Moon is cutting back on their food quantities. In particular, I got the Chili Cheese Fries a few weeks back, and instead of the heaping pile of chili that I had the last few times, there was barely any chili at all. But while cutting back on quantities is annoying, it's still forgivable.

But what's not okay is the staff trying to cheat me out of my money. At 1:30pm on Thursday April 7, I walked into Blue Moon and had the following conversation.

Me: I'll have the Chili Cheese Fries to go.
    Cashier: That will be $4.38.
Me: $4.38? That doesn't add up right.
    Cashier: It's $3.99 plus tax.
Me: But the menu right behind you says it's $3.49.
Cashier: Oh... well, I guess it's a misprint on our menu.

Needless to say, I walked out without paying.

Now obviously, 50 cents isn't that big a deal. But I've already had multiple bad experiences with Blue Moon. Price hikes and cutting back quantities? I can suck it up and deal with it. But using deceptive business practices to cheat customers out of their money? That's where I draw the line. Blue Moon has lost my business forever. I'm never going back there, and unless you're okay with liars and cheats trying to steal your money, neither should any of you.

Wow, just wow... and that's a real wow, not the sarcastic wow that we black people use from time to time!
Bread fresh from Macrina's bakery, thick bacon, a puddle of burger juice on my plate after I finish. It was a good experience. I'm one if those people who opens her burgers and redistributes everything across the bun and patty evenly. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it had been done for me! It's about the details people.

Low quality, brown, soggy crap. And charge a lot for it.

It used to be kind of good. Acceptable, but the last 3 times, they've messed up my order. When I ask for more tomato, more than the one 2" diameter sliver that comes with a giant patty on a tiny bun and little else except oil, I get one more sliver in a ketchup cup.

Funny story, I ran into one of their employees in Newark Airport and he recognized me

I love bleu cheese and having it on a burger is amazing!  They are busy with local Amazon employees during the day and makes the place seem like a hip hangout joint.  I loved it personally.  Although the line was long, my food was ready very quickly.  Had the Blue Bayou burger, which was pheNOMenal and the fries were cooked perfectly to my liking,  There are tables outside down the way and made myself at home, giving my taste buds a full experience of heavenly eats.  Can't wait to come back!

I've since emailed them about my issues and they responded... AND since going back to keep trying, things seem to be better.  The service has been better at this location and we haven't had any busted up sides lately.  And I'm glad - because I really love supporting this place and I love what they're doing.

Not impressed.  Location is great for a work lunch, but they are so slow it negates the convenience factor.

    cons:
half order of onion rings / fries: fries are shoestring but in a bad way, too thin to taste anything, onion rings batter it just fell apart. pretty stingy on portions.

burger: too greasy, "juicy" is another word to use, but I'm going to call it what it is, "greasy." smallish portions, and left feeling I paid for an overpriced burger.  most patrons seem to be Amazon employees - if so, you have a better bet just eating at your own cafeteria and getting their burgers, probably cheaper and better quality.

    tip:
going for lunch? go there at 11:30 or forget about it. the line crawls after that.

    Bun overtoasted.
Pretty small patty (small burger overall)
Meat had decent flavor but was dry.
All in all, a very average burger.

Only decent thing was it was half-priced (Wednesday).

    Fries were meh as well.

Too bad - I was looking forward to trying this place.. (sigh)

I first started coming here when there was basically nothing else in SLU worth eating at. Since then a regular bumper crop of restaurants have popped up, but Blue Moon Burgers fills a great better-than-fast food but still fast burgers-and-fries niche.

There's nothing revelatory about this place, but the burgers are all made of grass-fed, locally raised and free-range meat (i.e. the cows don't have their meeting stuck in windowless rooms or spend their time in a cubicle, which is more than I can say for myself). The various toppings are always tasty and I've never had to wait too long to get my meal. Plus the prices are reasonable. The proportions of the burger are good too - not too much meat or too much bun or too much toppings - surprisingly hard to get right in my extensive experience.

I particularly like the milkshakes and the waffle cut fries. The wings were, unfortunately, mediocre, so I'd suggest skipping them.

They have online ordering, so you can "skip the line", but I've never tried that. I'm guessing since amazon moved into the neighborhood this place is over-run with blue-badges and khakis during the day, but that's not a problem for me since I only come here at night.

This is my favorite burger joint in Seattle. The El Diablo Azul is spicy awesomeness  with jalapeno bottle caps (yayy), pepper jack cheese and spicy buffalo sauce - team it with any patty! I've had the Blue Shroom as well, but I think the El Diablo is more my style :D

I wonder what they put in their milkshakes though! Their vanilla caramel shake rocks my world and I've heard great things about the peanut butter shake from friends [I'm allergic to peanuts, sadly, so can't have it *sad face*]

Range of different kinds of burgers from the build-your-own menu, the fries were good, and the portions were good sized although not super-sized.

Prices were reasonable (shocking in downtown).

Not busy at dinner, this seems to be a lunch place.

My burger was juicy, not too greasy or fatty, came with laden with toppings but the fries were fresh, and the salad was about what you would expect.

A very good burger. Made fast and made right. I particularly enjoy their hawaiian themed burger (name escapes me right now)

I like the fries, and would pass on the onion rings. Just my opinion, I know others love the rings...

I'm debating between 2 stars and 3 stars... I went with really good company and everything, ... but it just wasn't worth 1) the hype, 2) the wait, 3) the money.  I wanted to like it - being a socially conscious type business...

Burgers were pretty good.  I ordered a normal cheeseburger.  It was normal and okay.  Burger a little dry.  A little too bready for my taste.  Sauce was decent.

With all the rage on the onion rings, ordered those too.  FAIL.  Waaaaaayyy to bready and doughy.  Disaster.

Ordered the special hush puppies too.  FAIL.  They were like... chickpea balls of gritty heaviness.  Hush puppies are supposed to be balls of fun, and fluffy in your mouth!!!!

Very good burger.  A little messy, but I guess I'd rather have a juicy burger and messy hands than a dry burger and clean hands.

Long lines at lunch time.  Their fries a little lame.  Easy menu.
