so this is my usual blockbuster that I frequent ohh so often to rent movies. Awhile back when I was looking for something to write reviews about, someone suggested I write about the places I go for movies. When I do rent movies I go to this location. I was a bit hesitant to write a review about them because really what is there to say about a huge company like blockbuster that offers the same movies at every location... right?
Well today is a red letter day. I went in here to get a movie for a get together with some friends tonight and upon leaving I realized I needed to write something about this location because of what went down..
Me: "do you happen to have this on previously viewed because I would like buy it?" placing a rental copy on the counter.
Her: "let me check the computer...... .... ... umm it doesn't look like it."
Me: "booo I was hoping to pick it up for a friend, guess the rental will have to do."
Her: "umm... if you like I can sell you this copy for $6.99?, I even have a sleeve for the movie if you like?"
Me: "what? you would sell me this copy? helz ya!"
Her: "no problem!"
So I had no idea you could buy the movie if they don't have it in their dump bins. This took me by surprise and was completely excited bout this option. Who knew! -

I tend to prefer the indie shops with more of a documentary section but when I have hit up Blockbuster on Broadway I've been pleased. I find the staff engaging and seriously interested in their flicks. They'll give you their honest opinion of your picks if you ask. At one point during check-out our guy was doing the usual upsell..."do you want anything else?" "do you want popcorn?" "it's only a buck." My friend and I looked at each other, we did want popcorn, but I'd just moved into my place and didn't have a microwave. No problem, they had one in the store, he told us, then went and made us a batch to take home. Pretty awesome, and unexpected.
