Review from Julie R.
This was one of our first stops in Charleston. It was more of a late lunch. As soon as we came in, the bartender introduced himself and asked our names, which he then addressed us by name as we dined. The vibe was totally chill.
He suggested the Bahn Mi sandwich, which turned out to be very delicious. On the side we got fried okra, which also was yummy.
Drinks were dirt cheap, $2 beers and my mixed drink was a few dollars. On Tuesdays they do $4 burgers. I heard they are pretty good. There is a courtyard in the back but we stayed at the bar with the locals. If you are wondering on the name, a local told me "blind tiger", was the code to get into a speakeasy! -

Loved the back patio. They have fans with misters which was good since it was hot. We were starving. Had the turkey and Brie with cranberry. It was tasty, a touch salty. Also had the chicken salad. Also yummy. It had cranberries mixed in which I like. A little overkill on the mayo but still good. Both served on a croissant, yum! Sweet potato fries were crisp and delish.
I'm not sure how objective our assessment of the food was considering how hungry we were but I thought it was pretty good for a good price! -

Blind Tiger was hands-down one of the best pubs/bars I've ever been too. Trust me, I'm well-traveled.
1) Great, cozy ambiance. Wonderful back patio that reminds me of a secret garden. There are little alcoves and areas where you could steal a quite moment with a significant other.
2) No reason to dress fancy to come here. It's laid-back and chill. A favorite with the college crowd.
3) Friendly service.
4) Live music.
5) New Castles for $2.50. Unreal! You could leave without blowing the bank on your bar budget.
6) Delicious food to absorb those $2.50 New Castles. The Spicy Tuna Tartar was out of this world amazing. It's basically tuna tartar on a crispy wonton with spicy mayo and other dressings. The Fried Green Tomatoes and Pirogies were bland...and would have been better with a bit more seasoning or a sauce to complement the flavors.
7) Convenient location on Broad Street. -

Stopped by for lunch after running the Cooper River race. Needless to say, crowded describes accurately. That said, we were seated much quicker then anticipated. I had a few beers and a more than decent burger. The service, especially considering the crowd, was very good and friendly. I would like to see a little more creativity on the draught selection. Overall, it is a place I would return to on my next vist to this great city. By the way, love the shirts that say they "separate Church and State", the two streets that border the pub.

Between the live music, the fun crowd and that awesome outdoor space outback, I kind of love this place. Fair warning - the mixed drinks are amateur, the service is sub par and don't even think about ordering a glass of wine. It's a real dive, but charming nonetheless. Go with a bunch of friends, order some cheap beer and enjoy the lively atmosphere.

Stopped by to grab a quick dinner first night in Charleston. The food was good (Chorizo tacos)...the prices were good...the service was TERRIBLE. We sat outside on the awesome patio in the back for 30 min. before someone came and even took our drink order. I would have given them four stars if the service had been somewhat decent. Sorry guys.

Great little local pub with awesome atmosphere and friendly bartenders. Justin is one of the best bartenders I've encountered in a very long time...and I don't know him personally so I'm not just giving props to friends. If you're downtown and want to hang out with cool locals, check out the Tiger.

Review from Jim L.
It was the first night of Charleston's low country blues bash and we decided to stop in for a pint and a bite to listen to Laurence Luckyman Beall. The beer was fine. My wife ordered the fried green tomatoes which were just fine. I ordered the $8 plate of nachos and received a mountain of food that the two of us simply couldn't finish. Luckyman does an excellent Johnny Cash and can make his guitar sound like a Hammond organ.
All in all a four star experience with 3 star food. -

Charleston, SC
Not a bad brunch. Went there for the first time for brunch today and had a pretty good meal. Sitting outside was enjoyable on this beautiful day. The food was pretty good, not amazing, but good enough to satisfy me and my guests. Service was a bit slow but since it was the day after St. Patty's day I understand. Started off with some very good Green Fried tomatoes with some nice goat cheese and a salsa on top of it. I then got the New Zealand omelette with turkey, brie and some cranberry sauce, very enjoyable. There were like 3 or 4 things on the menu I wanted to try and the food I saw going out to other tables looked appetizing, so I will be back. Another great thing is there was no line!!!

Came here for drinks and a few bites. Great environment, pretty quiet for its central location, but it was a weeknight right before Christmas.
I had a beer, my lady had a glass of wine, and we split orders of pierogies and crab-stuffed mushrooms. The beer and the pierogies were great. However, the wine arrived with lots of "grit" floating in it. Worse, the mushrooms were extremely oily and filled with bits of crab shell.
Service was the saving grace. They were friendly, understanding, extremely attentive to my complaint, and comped the mushrooms. Might give this place another shot if I'm ever back in Charleston. -

Service is very poor. Truly appalling. We waited for over an hour to get a table, and then after we got our table we waited nearly an hour for the food to come...and it never did, so we had to leave.

Traveling to Charleston, we Yelp!-ed to find a highly rated relatively cheap spot. Looking for a restaurant that accommodates vegetarians, meat-eaters, and picky eaters can be challenging, but Blind Tiger met all of our needs. The ambiance, the food, and the service were all wonderful. We ordered an appetizer of Fried Green Tomatoes and LOVED them-- served with goat cheese and a creamy basil sauce on a bed of greens-- couldn't get better. For the meals, we got an Ahi Tuna wrap, Bahn Mi and BBQ, and all of us couldn't get enough. I would also highly recommend the sweet potato casserole: rich, sweet and textured with walnuts. They also serve Newcastle for 2.50 all day every day. Great prices, great food. We were so pleasantly surprised.

I had lunch at this pub on a recent visit to Charleston. I was really hungry, so I stepped into the first place that looked reasonably good. I had a terrific fried green tomato BLT, with a side of good potato salad. The sandwich was huge, and had to be eaten with a knife and fork. I didn't have a drink from the bar, but the bar was reasonably crowded for late luchtime on a week day. I would definitely go back to this bar again.

Blind Tiger was a fun time.
The huge back patio was super awesome.
I would definitely return. -
Review from Taylor A.
This place deserves four stars if only for that badass patio out back! I almost bought a Groupon for this place and I live 5 hours away. That's how much I know I'll be back here the next time I'm in Chucktown.
I have no idea if they even serve food, but if they do I assume the menu is in Braille. -

Growing up in Charleston, SC, Blind Tiger Pub is a favorite among us locals. Its location in the heart of downtown makes it easily accessible, and parking is usually not too bad. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, and the patio is great during the Spring, Summer, and Fall. The food is delicious, especially their burger...it's the ONLY thing I get! (Tuesdays are their half off burgers, so definitely be sure to check it out then!) They also have an extensive beer and wine list as well, which is perfect if you're in the mood to grab a cold one after work or want to relax and enjoy the Charleston weather. Overall, there's nothing not to love about Blind Tiger; after all, we do :)

Review from Matt R.
Nice atmosphere in downtown Charleston. Rather limited menu, but had many seafood staples like crab cakes, etc (unfortunately they were out of the crab). Ordered the mussels with Guiness shallot sauce instead, pretty tasty. I was still hungry so I got the Chicken Satay appetizer, which was a diasppointingly small portion. Exactly 4 pieces of chicken (nugget size) on skewers for $6, I felt ripped off. Great Thai peanut sauce though.

I came here on a pub tour. Awesome back patio (so cute and you would never know it was there). It's not on a block with a lot of bars or anything, so I feel like it would be easy to miss.
They had beer specials and there's a fun ring game in the back. -

What a cool experience. The back patio is awesome and a true hidden gem. The exposed brick, the arch way, and the tree lined path make this such a unique experience.
Also, the $2.50 Newcastle drinks special didn't hurt either. -

Three generations of my family decided to try the Blind Tiger Pub for a late lunch and we were quite pleased! It wasn't too crowded, and the waitress was very attentive to our large group.
The menu isn't large by any means (it fills a single page), but the entrees we tried were quite good. I had the steak sandwich (which came with a generous helping of delicious fries); other family members gave good recommendations for the mussels and clams, the black Angus burger, and the quiche. Don't go looking for anything fancy, but go for tasty, filling, reasonably priced comfort food. -

Definitely a cool bar, but nothing stands out in my memory except for some annoying girls at the end of the bar, and a bartender who tried really hard to show off her breasts. But hey, maybe that's your thing.

This has got to me one of the best pubs in Charleston. It's not full of tourists or 20-somethings -- but young professionals that know how to behave.
Their wine and beer selection is great along with their atmosphere, live music, and service.
This will be a regular stop for us each and everytime we visit Charleston. -
Review from Evan H.
Stopped into the Blind Tiger for a quick drink. They had a few beers on Tap that were local to the region so I went with that. My gf ordered a redbull and vodka. Nice and strong, just the way I, i mean she, likes it.
The bar also looked to have a nice menu of food, though we decided to just chill out in the beer garden out back. It was a huge patio area with at least 12-15 tables. It was a relaxed and laid back bar. Wouldn't be able to speak to the crowds on a weekend.
Would check it out again. -
Review from Annie R.
Blind Tiger is the closest bar to my parents home. That being said, I've spent a fair amount of time here. It is a locals bar, specifically preppy kids I went to private school with.
The atmosphere is great here, it is really laid back and they have a big outdoor back patio area which on a nice night is pretty fantastic. This place is very laid back and I seem to end up here whenever I go home to visit the fam.
If you are looking for a Charleston bar away from tourists this is it for sure. -

Loved the outdoor patio with its brick walls, fans and canopies! A great bar to enjoy the lovely Charleston weather! Try your hand at the 'ring' game to test your skills, but ask for some tips from the staff to help you become a ringmaster!

Looking for a place to grab a drink in Charleston, we happened upon the Blind Tiger Pub. A cool place that doesn't look like much from the street. Once you walk in the back you realize why everyone goes here on summer nights.
A fine assortment of beer in a quite setting. -

When we were visiting Charleston in July 2 - 4, we took a Pub Tour, which stopped in many bars; the Blind Tiger being one of them. It is a fun bar with good drinks, a great outside patio and interesting history. We ended up going back a second time so yes, it's good.

Went there about a year ago after going to Red's Ice house for a company function. It was open late, so a couple of us went to Blind Tiger afterwards. It was super chill, a college vibe to the place. The music was great, a blues guy by himself. We ordered our drinks and had the first round outside in the patio, and it was beautiful. Had the second round inside and it was very cool and chill with the music.
Will definitely have to go back. I've heard the food is great, I didn't have any that night. -

We stopped in here for a late lunch on a Thursday....it was pretty dead, but as expected considering the time. Tap selection was decent with a couple of local beers to try out. SweetWater 420 was pretty good. The menu was small, but everything looked good (not to mention a little more sophisticated than I expected for a pub. They have escargot people.) We ended up with corn fritters and mussels and were not disappointed. Mitch the chef came out and chatted since it was slow and was happy to give away some of his secrets for the sauces. Very cool guy, even offered to hang out with us later that night.
If I'm back in Charleston at night, I'd like to give this place a go when it's busy and see how it really is. -

By far the best burgers in Charleston and the great ambiance too. Totally a local crowd for the most part & you won't have to encounter too many khaki slacks & tucked in polos, if you know what I mean.
Beer selection is pretty good & their wines aren't too bad either. The back open area is fabulous and a great place to relax. Its great when they have live music and definitely a place you can hit up after work to take the edge off. The bartenders and guys that come around to service the food are very attentive and super nice. -

This was a bar that I decided hit on a recent trip to Charleston. Overall it was ok. The outside deck area was very cool! I would recommend sitting outside if there is room. There are not nearly enough seats/tables outside so be prepared to stand. However, I really wanted to sit outside in a court yard and have a drink and the patio defined my experience to this bar for sure. The clientele was mostly young professionals. My major complaint was that the drinks were served in plastic cups. REALLY! For the lack of college students and the price of the drink, plastic is unacceptably ghetto.

I thought we were just going to some dive bar when we went to Blind Tiger... I ended up getting one of the best meals ever and the dessert... it was orgasmic is all I can say.
The beer selection is really great but I was still so surprised by the meal that the booze was icing on the cake.
There's live music and an outdoor area that I didn't go to because it was too freaking cold. Suffice it to say I was more than pleasantly surprised. -
