Paris
A "french" take on an amazing burger joint but what does that mean?
Smaller portions
Fancy sauces
a long line
Regardless, this is a delicious place to have a gourmet burger. They run at 10 euro a piece but you are getting a deal on 3 euro beers so it evens out a bit. They don't take reservations and if you want to avoid the line, arrive at either 12 or 10pm.
PS. sweet potato fries. -

Blend Hamburger opened less than a month ago. If you believe the hype (and there are enough famous songs advising you not too), this burger joint is rumored to be The place to have a great hamburger in Paris. It hence won't come as a surprise that the wait to be seated is rather long.
The menu is relatively short with only one "classic" burger, 2 veggie variations and a few other options mostly featuring a French take on Burgers.
To me, the more American the Burger, the better. That is my Burger motto. Although I chose the most classic burger on the menu, I was disappointed by the overall result. Even though all ingredients are great, the final product lacks freshness (think freshly sliced tomato & ice cold iceberg lettuce) and tasty cheddar.
Make no mistake, their burgers are good but they are way too "French", in my opinion. I was also disappointed by the lack of mayonnaise on site. I wish I could have replaced their homemade red sauce which tastes like something in between ketchup & tomato sauce with Tabasco by mayonnaise.
All in all, I had a good meal but it certainly didn't qualify as a wonderful burger or the best I've ever had.
I would rate them a solid 7 out of 10 on my personal Burger scale. -

It's urban and chic - sparse interiors, black on blond oak tables, low stools and low tables. A little smallish and why would it not be - its a start up restaurant with a slightly new twist on the burger concept.
Yes there is a big buzz about this place. Lots of talk and positive reviews. This leads to a line at lunch time which is where we waited while they opened.
Yes the burger buns are fantastic. It is interesting to me that the buns are the kind you might find ubiquitously in the US, but the traditional fluffy hamburger bun is as elusive in France as the standard issue Parisian baguette is in the US (iow - the best baguette in the US is not as good as the worst baguette in Paris).
They offer beer and wine which is nice and Coke-a-Cola out of small bottles. The burgers and fries are served out of chromed wire baskets and this is a nice style touch. PS - the fries are a little not crispy enough (more heat on the grease please.)
They also have fantastic deserts - especially the small individual cheesecake was light, lemony and delicious.
There are about 6 burgers to choose from: signature, champ, cheesy, etc. And, two of these are veggie burgers - a huge rarity in Paris! I chose the Cheesy which was noted as cheddar and bacon. Here is where I start to diverge a little as a fan. The burger was coarsely chopped steak, not ground beef so it was a little chunky for my taste. And, for the life of me I could detect neither cheddar nor bacon (bacon is tough to get in Paris). I think the cheddar and bacon was part of the sauce? Don't get me wrong, the burger was good and if I evaluate at the level of casual dining in Paris; it was fine. But, it was not to me a classic hamburger - even gourmet - in the sense that I expect one to be. I'm not sure "classic" is what Blend is going for anyway, so perhaps my expectations got the best of me on this one.
I'm going with three stars. Blend is A-OK and I'd say try it and see for yourself. -

Paris
I can't even begin to explain my blend burger experience. It lasted about 4 bites (the thing is miniscule), but it was nothing short of a love affair. If you're a sucker for barbeque sauce like me, go for the cheesy burger. Bear in mind, this place isn't serving up your typical American burger. Unless you've got a fat wallet, chances are you'll be leaving hungry. Give it a shot for the flavor alone.
