This was the first bar I went to in Whistler last year. They didn't have a person to ID you at the door.
My friends and I got flaming shots where they light shots of 151 in shot glasses and tip them over into beer. Before the bartender tipped them over, he said, "this might go horribly wrong." I wish it did, because that would have been a cool story to tell.
Good atmosphere. -

We stopped in for lunch and found the restaurant to be decent, but not great.
It can feel very crowded in there, as there seem to be too many tables crammed into a small space. Every time someone opened the door, a freezing draft would blow through the room, requiring you to keep your bulky jacket on throughout the meal.
The menu was a lot smaller than I had anticipated, and was basically either pizza or burgers. I ordered the veggie pizza, which really wasn't anything special. Others got the burgers, which they said were solid, but the fries were only average. I did notice that bottles of wine are significantly cheaper than at some places in the village - around $30 - so dinner here can be much more affordable than other options.
I'd imagine this bar could be a fun place to party after dining hours, but I never bothered to find out. Overall a good enough lunch, but we weren't about to go back. -

Came here for lunch and it was completely mediocre. There wasn't a lot to pick from.
I had the portabello mushroom "burger", my dad had the blue cheese and bacon burger and my brother had the pork goulash with perogi. My burger was A-Ok and the fries were average.
Prices are about what you would expect in Whistler, but less pricy than the fancy joints. The service is nice enough. -

Perfect spot for sipping hot chocolate from the balcony while watching the skiiers take the slopes! You get a bird's eye view and the cold isn't that bad since they have heated lamps around the balcony. There's also a ground-level patio, but the balcony on the upper floor has a better view :)

Bleu cheese and bacon burger was awesome. The chicken burger was disappointing. It seems the food depends on what the chef specialty is, so order what they recommend. The chicken was dry and tasteless.

I came here 5 times over 4 days in Whistler. The first time was when we came to the main plaza to watch the Canada Day fireworks and then wanted a beer afterwards. Since Black's was right there we decided to give it a try.
Predictably, it was jam packed and there was no sign asking us to wait to be seated so we grabbed a table on the patio and I went up to the bar to order. The bartender, Tim, is a super guy - east coast transplant and will remember your drink orders after one night. The rest of the staff is great too.
No points for price - $20 for a pitcher of Okanagan Springs 1516, but hey, it's Whistler and this is to be expected. The hot wings were pretty good.
I hadn't been to Whistler in some time and I was a bit taken aback by how douchey/hoochie Friday and Saturday night has become up there, so Black's was definitely a breath of fresh air. -

This place is super loud and crowded. It is conveniently located super close to the slopes, which likely makes it a convenient post skiing happy hour location. They have plenty of local microbrews on tap and by bottle. The service was efficient but not an easy place to carry on a conversation if you are looking to relax with a group. I didn't dine their, but it also seemed to cater more to a bar crowd.

My sister and I were at Black's Pub Wednesday evening.
It is apparently jam night. There were two fellas singing and playing guitars. People from the audience were joining in on drums, guitars, singing, etc. It was a fun atmosphere.
We were hungry. I ordered jumbo honey garlic wings (they were good but not jumbo) . My sister ordered yam fries and said they were good. -

Went here after spending a day in Whistler Village. From here, we were able to watch a big air competition, and enjoy being among a crowd of people.
I was there with a group of four, and we all had a pint of Granville Island Pale ale, which was good. The food was also good. We tried a pepperoni pizza, which was excellent and very flavourful; the lobster ravioli which was just the right size and very delicious; and a plate of yam fries.
Serving staff here was friendly and attentive. Enjoyed our experience, and had a great view of the competition! -

This place is just bad. The service and food. We thought how can you mess up pub food, but they do it. Look around for better places in the village.

Black's is another good Apres bar. Great sweet potato fries. Between three friends we got two orders once. You can get cheaper beer in Whistler, but being stumbling distance from the Excalibur gondola, you can't beat the view.
If you're over 19, and you're not too sore from a good day of riding, go check out the upstairs patio.Listed in: Whistler Eats, Heating Up Whistler

Meh is right. On a scale of 1 - 10, this would be a 3 at best, so 2 stars is about right. Place was dead with its so-so selection of beer and not much life going on. Who cares about cheap beer besides punk children that are stocked to be drinking at 19? I want good, locally brewed beer. Not one stout on tap!? It *is* winter in December last I checked.
I slammed my beer and left. I went outside and slapped myself to get some life back into me. Yuck.Listed in: Whistler, BC: because you just…

I've only ever had two things on the menu - the Whistler specialty - yam fries and the veggie burger. Recently, the veggie burger changed from a garden veggie patty to a portobello mushroom with some sort of gooey sweet red pepper sauce on top.
Everything I've had has been delicious and the service is fast and the staff are extremely friendly! I agree that this place isn't anything special, but the food and staff are always reliable!Listed in: Whistler Eats

What can you say about Whistler - good friends and good fun? Who knew Easter weekend would be a winter wonderland in this place.
After a long and funfilled day on the slopes, Longhorn was jam packed so we decided to check out Black's... downstairs. Beer was our ultimate goal coming down our last run and we made it!.. unfortunately, the beer didn't make it because they do not carry Guiness downstairs. Upstairs they do - I am not sure why so I ordered Granville Island Honey lager instead.
Being super hungry, we all decided to share the nachos with chicken. Service was quick and the nachos came out in a large platter... however, I always believe that a good plate of nachos should have proper cheese and chip layering, which was not seen here. Toppings seem plenty, but then again, there were not that many pieces of chicken. The disk comes with sour cream and salsa, and asking for extra salsa, we were not informed that it was could a whole $3 extra.
When the bill came, the nachos totalled to $25, which you can probably find for $15 in a Vancouver pub... pricey yes, and sharing with friends made the tab a lot smaller... however... it can seem like one huge rip off in the end. -

I've visited Black's Pub only once and that was strictly to enjoy a scotch before going out to dinner. Thus, my review is a bit limited, but I suspect the attention span of most readers is as well.
Simply put, Black's Pub has a surprisingly good scotch selection for a small little place. Better yet, the prices aren't too bad for their selection. I found a distiller's edition of Lagavulin from 1989 while my girlfriend enjoyed a BenRiach I'd never seen before. Best of all, the bartender was also a whisky enthusiast. It's strange that this little place is well stocked with a very good range of scotch, but I'll definitely be coming back to have a few more drams in the future. -

Service here was superb. It was cold and raining outside and Longhorn was full of college kids from college week, so we went across to Blacks Pub instead... Big surprisingly they were completely packed and was about to be turned away by the man at the door. Then suddenly he goes " Oh wait! You two are the luckiest two people out there" apparently another couple didnt show up for their reservations so he gave the table to us instead... After turning away more people he personally comeback a few times to make sure we were happy and satisfied. The food was good And happy atmosphere :D

I wasn't expecting much here, but Black's managed to be a great option for late-night dining in the village. The Bleu Cheese burger was among the best burgers I've ever had, and the fries were perfect. A solid selection of Canadian beers and fun cocktails mixed with good service and a fun atmosphere. It has the added bonus of overlooking the village and slopes. Definitely a good option of you want something hearty and reasonably priced.

Here is the rundown about Black's Pub.
The staff is nice, and they are happy to offer their advice for places to visit and recommendations from the menu. Everything that my family ordered was delicious. They have large portions, so go make sure you are hungry!!! There are very few choices on the menu, so if you like to have more variation in the menu don't be surprised if you aren't satisfied here. The prices are expensive, but reasonable. The restaurant has a view of the mountain biking courses, which is amazing to watch, especially if you aren't a biker (like me and my family). Overall this is a nice place to try out if you feel like burgers, salads, and pizza.
What me and my family ordered:
-Blue Cheese and Crispy Pancetta Burger with Wedge Fries
(My dad says this is a highly recommended meal. The burger is great and the fries are just remarkable.)
-Quiche of the Day
(The quiche that my mom had eaten that day was a goat cheese and spinach quiche. It was good, but not great. A small salad comes with this meal, and the salad is very fresh)
-Supreme Pizza
(My sister had a ten inch pizza that suited her well. The pizzas are just the right size for any amount of people that you want. The taste is very kid friendly, so it is nothing to sophisticated.)
-Chicken Breast Salad
(This is the meal that I ordered, and I highly recommend it. It's a large salad with a great dressing and yummy toppings.) -

Awesome place to watch a game. Lots of TVs. Service were kind of slow but the waitresses & bartenders were smoking!! No joke. Roomy bathroom is also a plus especially when you're stopping by here during the day for a ski break.

Great servers and bartenders, they were super friendly- sat with me after work to tell me about the local spots in Whistler. Bison ribs were incredible, with roasted beets crisp green beans, and mashed potatoes. (see pic). Much nicer than traditional pub food, but as with everything in Whistler, a little pricey.

Delicious Winter Ale on tap from Granville Island and yummy fries! Though the pub was quite packed, we managed to get a table and watch the women's moguls and Jenn Heil get silver. The biggest downfall was food because we were there for a long time and when we finally decided we wanted food, they only had their fancy (read: pricey) dinner menu available and we just wanted pub fare. :( So we left.

This is a big bar/restaurant with a two story patio right next to the Blackcomb Gondola. I was given coupons for free drinks by the Sundial Hotel where I was staying as they are in the same building. I came after a long day and had a Granville Winter Ale which was absolutely delicious!! Service was pretty good. The bar is extremely crowded, even on a Thursday. The menu looked pretty expensive so I didn't end up eating anything, but it's a decent place to stop by at the end of your day on the mountains. They did have a good beer selection but I'm not sure how much it was - probably $$$$.

I've never had a meal here but in the summer it's a great place for a couple of drinks while watching the downhill bikers - this location can't be beat.

Needed to kill time before skiing. Good place to rest up and grab a bite.
Food is nothing special.
Food: 2 stars
Service: 4 stars
Cost: appropriately priced -
Review from Rebecka I.
So the food is OK but it takes a life time to get and it is definitely nothing to write home about. The drink selection is poor for a pub just 100 ft from the base of two major skiing spots. But the service really sucks! we were about to leave money on the table for the drinks we had and leave after waiting for almost an hour for a burger!!!
So "it's all about location" and the out door seating (on a sunny day) is mong the best but does that mean you do not have to care about service or quality at all? -
Review from Amy P.
Stay away from this place. The food sucks and the drinks have no alcohol. Management did not care when we complained about how bad everything was.
