I used to live on the lower slope of Kits and this shop was my closest place to grab cold pops. But frequenting the establishment, it did not take me long to catch on to some unique things about the place.
When you walk in, you see a regular cold beer and wine shop with lots of fridges chilling delicious frosty bevies. But if you walk through to the back and down the wee set of stairs, you find yourself in a cellar. There is actually a fair selection of wine and some bottles that wouldn't be too shabby to bring over to someone's for dinner.
Last year I even noticed they had a couple cases of Osoyoos Larose "Le Grand Vin" stashed behind the till. I'd been looking for this wine up the street at the fancy Kits wine specialty store and they didn't have it in stock. What a happy accident! -

bimini's is great for cold brews on 4th. the closest BCLC is way up the hill at maple and broadway, but when that closes down soon, this is gonna be it.
the prices are reasonable or cold beers, and they have a massive wine selection. keep up the good work -

I love Bimini's because it's a hop skip and jump from my apartment. You'll love Bimini's because it's open late (until 11 p.m. every night), and carries cold beer, spirits, and a really healthy selection of wines from around the world. Although it's not nearly as expansive as those monstrous B.C. Liquor Stores, it's almost always got the poison I'm looking for in a pinch!

Oh how I miss Bimini's-- at least I still have the beer and wine store that thankfully didn't burn down. I was recently late for a party a friend was throwing in Kitsilano and needed to bring my own wine. The only free parking was in font of this store. I was expecting a smaller, less-than-ideal selection for wines, but I was surprised at both the selection and pricing. I didn't go downstairs, but the cellar is supposed to be really neat and cozy.
