Depicting the times and materials of the historic Billings Family of Ottawa, this is a large museum that has quite a lot of exhibits for a museum for just one family.
However, for me, it did not really tickle my fascination buds. While the various time capsules and snapshots of different periods spanning the five generations of this storied family is cool, one can technically get that historical narrative at virtually any historic museum.
The guides were certainly knowledgeable, but not as friendly as I expected. Gave off a bit of a snobbish attitude. Perhaps I need to visit in the summertime, when apparently the museum is at its best. "Tea on the Lawn", outdoor outreach presentations and a picturesque settings are more enjoyable in the warm summer months. Because of that, I will give this otherwise ordinary museum a mulligan.
