wow, lots of 2 stars here.
i didn't have a problem for service nor a table.
i did hear the seafood fondue was tasty but...i ordered the oysters and the seafood fettucine which is a heart attack on a plate. it was delicious as anythignn drenched in butter and cream should be. way too big for one person unless you were over 300 pounds. -

I've come here on two occasions.
The first occasion was horrendous. We were seated immediately but service was terrible. It did not look like they were understaffed for that day which happens on occasion for poor service and that I can understand. It took forever for us to get our drinks and appetizers which included...yup oysters. The oysters were Ok. After an hour and a half and no apology, just a "you're meal should be out soon" and 45 minutes go by before we're attended to again we get our meals. Thankfully my mom's meal was hot because mine was a combination of warm and cold. Honestly my rice was cold. I found out later 2 of the 4 meals were warm and cold while the other 2 were hot.
The second time I went back the service was fine for the table but still bad for me. I thought it might have been me but it was a good 2 years later. Anyways our table got our meals and I ended up getting mine a bit after everyone got theirs and had started eating.
I want to like this place but I won't go back to test the service game.
I'm just going to split time between Whalesbone and Red Lobster if I want seafood. -

The seafood fondue is to die for here!
My biggest complaint for this place is that when they serve the stuff they give you a heaping bowl of the seafood fondue but not enough stuff to dip into it. I'm not above just taking a spoon and digging the stuff out of the bowl and eating it straight up either! It's that good.
A neat characteristic of this place restaurant is watching the bartender shuck oysters as you enjoy a glass of red. The restaurant isn't all that large as half of the space is taken up by the more casual bar section.
The patio here is covered which expands the place a bit but you're wise to get reservations on a weekend if you're going with more than one other person.
I'll be interested to see what changes they've made since they were closed last week for renovations and also if their menu (mostly if prices change) from increased seafood rates. -

I used to love this place, good Cajun food, good bar, good selection of oysters and using ingredients you wouldn't see in any other restaurant in Ottawa (Crawfish, alligator, etc).
Their gumbo, their crawfish creole (no longer on the menu), every dish was made with care and tasted like it was made from scratch.
The past few years though, it has really gone downhill. Now every dish tastes about the same, like they're using the same pre-made spice mix for everything, the crawfish is basically gone from the menu and the dishes taste like typical and easily repeatable franchise food (Milestones, Moxies, etc.)
Don't recommend it at all. The bar side, especially on Thursday nights, is still a decent place for after work drinks and snacks. -

At loose ends on Friday after work and thought I would revisit a previous bad experience that was Big Daddy's Crab Shack on Elgin. It's to bad that the food was again a disappointment because the atmosphere and service are great!! I ordered a dish that came smothered in a tasteless sauce. To be fair my friends found the food okay. Twice bad tells me I will go for the drinks and the outdoor patio. Love the spot, people and feel.

I went here with my boyfriend who loves seafood. I am not a fan. We got the gaitor bites to start, and they were neat, but nothing special... also calamari which was not very impressive, but maybe just not the right thing to order at this restaurant? Then we got the seafood fondue (cheese and different seafood stuffs melted with toast to eat it on). Even though I'm not a huge fan, it was pretty good! We also got a boil of a bunch of seafood - snow crab, king crab, crawfish, oysters, etc... All with garlic butter. My boyfriend was in heaven!
