The Ringside Lounge in the Bentall Centre Athletic Club (yes, a weird location where you walk past all the sweating members on fitness machines) hosts Big Al's cooking most Mondays-Fridays from 4pm to 8pm.
Best to call to make sure he is there offering one of the only spots in Vancouver for Louisiana style cooking. Items on offer include chicken gumbo, seafood gumbo, chicken and prawn jambalaya, sausage and prawn jambalaya, fried catfish, red beans on rice, hot links sandwiches, fried chicken, and ribs.
My favourite is the fried chicken - which really tastes like it does in the Deep South. The side dishes are a bit unfortunate having frozen veggies and dirty rice made with instant rice (hence the deduction on the ratings). But damn, the fried chicken is excellent!
