One of our fave Italian spots, great appies and mains especially their pastas and pizzas. We don't live close by but we will make the drive for our family celebrations. The carbonara pasta is one of our faves! Great service too!

I heard Bibo is authentic Italian restaurant and they have some good and bad reviews. I'm willing to try it out before I comment it.
We went there for brunch on Sunday, they were so quiet.
We got lunch special, breakfast and pasta. The foods portion at small size, taste below average and plating in freestyle.
Won't be coming back any time in the foreseeable future.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Phyllis B.Vancouver, BC3747Jan 7, 2020
Enjoyed it every time consistently, and that is the most important keyword for every restaurant. Great menu option and quality from Pizza to steak and pasta, always loved it. I also truly get amused by their black & white old Italian movies. Well Done Bibo and staff.

This place seems to do well catering to a conservative West Side crowd. Gave it a try despite middling reviews - unfortunately the reviews are right.
Pretty standard menu of pizza and pasta, with inflated prices that don't match the quality/experience. The flavors are good but that's about it; at $24 for a vegetarian pasta, you need to serve more than a fistful of it. The Vegetariana pizza was tasty but too soggy in the middle.
Service was mediocre, which I normally don't care about but in this case added a sting to the high prices.
Ended up leaving still hungry and a bit disappointed. Only thing I was happy with was the wine-by-the-glass situation.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - L C.Vancouver, BC0144850Jun 20, 2021
Third time ordering take out. Each time the portions have been getting smaller but today was the most irregular. Three gnocchi orders with greatly varying quantities. Smallest one did not even fill the bottom layer of container. Pizza was not cut thoroughly and cold. So understand it's COVID but they should measure the dishes to be equitable and make an effort to time pickups. We are only 10 minutes from the restaurant so why is food cold? Will be our last time ordering.

I got the carbonara and it was good but a bit too smokey for me. The pesto pasta was really great and I definitely enjoyed my experience at Bibo. It has an overall really great atmosphere and feels very traditionally Italian. The menu had lots of great weekday deals which I look forward to trying soon (hopefully)!

Update from below:
So after a little more research into Italian, "proscuitto" means Italian ham, which can be cooked OR cured. For an average North American person, proscuitto will usually be equated with the cured variety.
Therefore, my previous rant was 1/2 offside. 1/2 because I expected something cured, which is not incorrect, nor unreasonable. The menu was "technically" correct for the cooked ham, since it was labeled that way in English and the type of proscuitto, in Italian, was not specified.
Still disappointed by the soggy pizza.

One word. Disappointed.
I had higher expectations than what I got tonight.
The redeeming factors were the server was friendly, the service was fast and the gnocchi with ragu was quite good.
For a place who's reputation is based on pizza, this was a let down.
Soggy pizza, wet centre. That's what an "authentic" neapolitan pizza this style should be. Soggy to the point where you cannot pick it up, but instead have to roll the pointed part towards the edge in order for the thing to hold together, and you can visibly see water on the pizza plate? That's what I got.
I ordered a prosciutto e funghi pizza. The English translation was "Tomato, mozzarella, cooked ham, mushrooms" Well the English translation was what I got. Not prosciutto, but thinly shaved cooked ham. Why would you put "prosciutto" on the menu when it isn't prosciutto?? Prosciutto is cured. This was not cured. Cured and cooked are not the same thing. One last thing. I asked whether they had pecorino cheese. He said he would check. He then came back with cheese. Problem was, it wasn't pecorino. I cook with pecorino. What I got was parmesan. I'll give the benefit of the doubt to the server. Maybe he didn't know what pecorino was and the kitchen staff told him that it is the same as parmesan, because a similar thing happened to me at Italian Kitchen where the server thought it was the same. At least at IK, they said they didn't have any.
Maybe today was an off day.
Sorry for my rant.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Sep 24, 2012
Came here to check out some Neopolitan pizzas. Based on location, this place must be going head-to-head with Novo.
Parking is available along Burrard if you are lucky.
The restaurant is spacious, but tiny. There were so many customers that my friends and I had to wait by the pizza oven for 30 minutes or so. They were kind enough to comp us a bottle of their in-house white wine, which was actually pretty good. Special mention. As for the decor, it reminded me of a bare kitchen for some reason. Must be all the white brick they used.
Service was professional, and the waiter took the time to explain the different types of pizzas.
With that said, it was now time to try the food. I had the porcini funghi (mushroom) pizza. I honestly don't know what it was, but for some reason this pizza wasn't what I had expected. I will confess that I was comparing it to the funghi pizza from Novo, which is what I currently use as a benchmark. The porcini mushrooms were a bit on the bitter side, but that is fine. What I found was that the pizza was really, well, bland. To me, it tasted just like sauce on dough. I took the time to try to savour it, one small piece at a time, but unfortunately it simply didn't do it for me. I don't want to bad-mouth this place though, as this can easily be the fault of my palate as opposed to the restaurant.
With that said, I have never travelled to Italy, so please take this review with a grain of salt. I will come back and try another pizza one day.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
