This lovely little shop was recommended to me by a friend/yoga teacher, so I just had to stop by on my visit to my hometown of Halifax. As you walk up the stairs, you notice the sense of community right away with postings for local yoga studios/events and you start to relax with the sounds of light music and a beautiful aroma. You escape the bustle of Quinpool Road when you enter this space, which really makes the atmosphere.
When you are inside, you are overtaken with the amount of wonderful products available - yoga mats, clothes, books, jewelry and essential oils. I could have spent all day in this boutique looking over all of the great products, especially since the owner, Krista, makes you feel so welcome. She is always up for a friendly chat and very knowledgeable about all things yoga.
The prices on the clothing may seem a little high, but if you are used to paying Lulu type prices for yoga wear than cost won't really affect you. I've heard the clothing is Canadian-made, which definitely makes it worth it when you know you are supporting your own nation's businesses.
Overall, Bhavana is a great space with a lovely owner and wonderful yogic products - a haven for yogis all around!Listed in: Adventures in Halifax

Review from Lacey H.
I don't think there is any way in which I could be further converted as a Bhavana fan, but here I find myself possessing even more of a swoon-lust for this special little boutique.
I often pop in just to touch everything, admiring the colors, textures and fragrances filling this upstairs shop. Today, after trying on about four necklaces and chatting with Krista, I started to peruse some of the clothing. There were some sweet, useful pieces on sale so I decided to give a few items a whirl.
Lo and behold, cozy fits, comfortable materials, and sweet designs equaling some great new pieces to practice in. I've always been a cotton tank and tights kind of yogini, but let me say, after picking up these delightful pieces made by Tonic and Karma today, I'm looking forward to adding a little zest to my wardrobe.
Not only are the pieces made in Vancouver, the materials are also made right here in Canada. I'm stoked about these companies and about trying some new materials out! Yay, Bhavana. You're a dream come true.Listed in: Relax, Rest & Restore, Misses & Kisses

Review from Laura P.
This dreamy little shop embodies the poise and consciousness of some sweet yogi livin'. I had my first Bhavana experience just last week and it kind of made me feel like dancing.
Following the stairs upwards, I immediately notice a thorough pooling of local yoga info. Cards, pamphlets, class and studio information- Bhavana is a neutral zone where all Halifax yoga outlets are supported! I enjoy this bridging of businesses, as having such information so readily available is encouraging for those looking to extend their practice.
The interior was quite lovely, and I was warmly greeted by the owner, Krista. We chatted throughout my visit and she was very helpful in answering all questions. The yoga gear is fab. And guilt free, as its all manufactured here in Canada. Hooray! Not only this, but its super comfortable, structured wear. I tried on a pair of shorts and bra top by a brand called 'Tonic' and it was like a second skin. Completely comfortable and with a solid structure. And at 50% off... how could I resist.
There were also mats, books, jewelry, essential oils and various other yogi goodies ooze good auras. I'm glad to have this option for yoga wear and a lovely independent business to support. I'll be back!Listed in: Namaste

An oasis for yoga enthusiasts! Enter inside this quaint little shop, and feel awakened by the light, soothing aromas and the droning of soft music in the background as you explore the selections of quality yoga items.
Bhavana's selection of merchandise is not the most plentiful, but what's lacking in quantity is certainly compensated for in terms of quality. The range of yoga attire is comfortable, durable, and best of all, it is Canadian-made, which brings about a certain pride in supporting domestic companies. Apart from apparel, Bhavana offers such items as yoga mats, meditation music, books, aromatic oils, jewelry and other staples to enrich your yoga experiences.
One thing that strikes me as particularly great about Bhavana is its involvement in enriching the yoga community. The storefront features a whole host of advertisements and messages from Halifax yoginis, and the store seems to establish a "network" of sorts, bringing together Haligonians actively living the yoga lifestyle. -

Bhavana Yoga Boutique is a good place to head for yoga wear, especially if you prefer to wear cotton over the lulu type spandex that seems to be enjoying huge popularity.
Bhavana, has a section for essential oils, healthy living books, jewelry, clothing and yoga mats. Cute t-shirts with saying such as: 'Buddha is my 'Om-boy'.
Stretchy pants were on sale for around $60 which may or may not seem exorbitant to you... still about $40 less than competitors. I enjoy the general sense of calm that stores like this bring forth... must be the incense! -

I love this little yoga-inspired store, such a sweet place! First of all, it smells wonderful. I don't know about you, but for me that's an important quality in a store. I started relaxing as soon as I stepped inside; the air is light and herbal, not perfumey, just right to put you in the mood for yoga clothes.
The owner Krista is a wonderfully kind woman who welcomed us into the store and made sure we had any help we needed. I had been curious about Bhavana for a while, so although I didn't really need anything specific I dropped in to check it out. Glad I did, because when I do next need yoga-gear this is the place I will be going. The selection isn't huge, but you feel like you're going to get a quality item, like each product has been stocked for a reason. In addition to the yoga essentials (mats, tops and bottoms, cushions) Bhavana also carries body products, candles, casual wear, jewelry by local artists and lots of other little treasures. A lot of thought obviously goes into the stuff that gets put on the shelves here.
