The sandwiches here are amazing. The owners are even better. Mike and Dina are amazing people. The first time I ever went I didn't have any cash and was unaware that it was cash only, when I went to pay with my card Dina informed of that. Feeling like a total dummy and asking where the closest ATM was she told me not too worry about it and get them back the next time I came in. This was the first time I was ever a customer!! That's amazing customer service, but it's not even customer service it seems, it's as if they consider you a friend instead of a customer. I try to get here as often as possible now.
Just a heads up the sandwiches are huge, I usually split one with a friend. -

5 Stars! Best sandwich deli in San Diego so far. By the looks of this place I assumed we were getting a regular cold sandwich, but this place surpassed all my expectations. I ordered the New Yorker and it was made to perfection. The meat was soft and tender making every bite satisfying. The sandwiches were very large and I could only eat half of it.
They have really great customer service. We didn't know they took cash only so they let us pay them back later. Not many places trust customers to come back. She was also very sweet to remember our names. The chef behind the window even smiled and waved while we left.
Tip: Bring cash!
Expect: Great sandwiches and great service! -

Oh my, what a sandwich! Humongous isn't the right word. Neither is delicious. How about this: Delici-mongous! Nah, that's doesn't get it, but hopefully you get my drift. Beyers is outstanding!
I've had (and loved) their California triple decker, the aptly named Hot & Delicious, and my fave is their chicken salad which which is truly the best I'vr ever had. Honestly, I've never had a bad sandwich here... not once. But just as wonderful as the food is their customer service. They genuinely care that you've had a good experience here. Beyer's is the best deli in San Diego - or at least, it's the best I've ever been to. -

You will never find a better sandwich. Ever.
The sausage "eyeopener" for breakfast is dangerously delicious. One can become addicted. For lunch try the "Raging Bull".
Mike has the magic touch when it comes to making the perfect sandwich, party platters, and making you feel part of the family.

So I saw all the five star ratings on here and thought "that cant be right?!?!". I kind of thought this may be a place that had a bunch of friends yelp it for help. So , I was in the neighborhood and decided to see if this place was legit and if it wasn't then I would give it an accurate rating.
Well, I walked in and quickly realized this was a cash only place and turned around to head to the ATM (there is a gas station close by that gives cash back so just buy sodas there). The lady at the counter took my order before I left so the food was just coming up as I walked in.
I ordered the NY sandwich with a side of fruit to share with my kids. This sandwich was a thing of beauty! Pastrami stacked high with fresh sliced lettuce and tomato, served on a torta bread with swiss cheese.I loved every bite of this sandwich and crave more. I really liked the idea of using Torta bread as a kind of east meet west idea on the pastrami sandwich.
Anyway, the service was great also. The cashier, who I assume is the owner, gave my kids free cookies and was very nice.
I have to agree with the majority of the reviews that this is the best little deli in the south bay that I have found. I will be back soon!!! -

My boyfriend took me here yesterday and he swore that they have the best sandwiches. At first I was put off by the look of the place, so I was very skeptical.
First off, EXCELLENT service. Right when I walked in the door, I was greeted with a big 'hello' and 'how are you'. The lady at the register, I'm guessing the owner, was super nice and attentive. Also, the guy in the back making the food was awesome too, they asked us how our food was and made sure we were happy with it.
The food was pretty good, I've had better, but just the fact that they really care about their customers makes me want to come here again. It's a great place to eat at if you want something simple. -

I read the reviews and been wanting to try it for myself. I finally got the chance and will say that for the most part the good reviews were accurate. I had the Hot and Delicious. The sandwich was pretty good, however I did feel it was a tad overpriced for the size of the sandwich.

I have been living near this place all my life and just recently discovered it thanks to Yelp. Like all the reviews about this place, one of the best customer service I have ever experienced. Right when I entered, the owner introduced himself and welcomed us like we have been going to this place as regulars. This place is a hidden gem for sandwiches in South San Diego and to be honest one of the best sandwich shops in all of San Diego. This is a bold statement from somebody that has been here once, but I am willing to bet all their sandwiches reflect their great customer service.
I ordered the New Yorker, which comes with Pastrami, corn beef, lettuce, tomato and mayo all wrapped in a torta. The ingredients may seem standard, but MY GOD it was one of the best sandwiches I have ever eaten. I couldn't put it down once I started it. Parking and seating is plentiful since it is located in a business park. I will definitely be returning to this place for any sandwich cravings I may have. Don't bother with any of that Subway garbage. Go to this place NOW! -

Great customer service! Best I've had by far! Its Crazy how the owner Mike recognized me because of my brother (that guy loves this place as well) even though it was my first time there. They're just really friendly people, and without going into details, they really take care of you at this place.
Ordered the Hot and Delicious, and thats just what it is...hot and delicious! My girlfriend is a big fan of avocado and she loved it. I got the manhandler by recommendation of Nikolet and it did not dissapoint. I'm more of a red meat eater than my girlfriend so this really hit the spot. Tons of flavor and qaulity ingredients in both! The portions are big as well. My girlfriend only finished half, but I destroyed mine because I was really hungry haha and I dont like sogy sandwiches
They dont seem that busy on the weekends, which is cool since its close to home. They have my business..definitely coming back -

Amazing customer service!! Now a days food joints are more concerned with making their money that they lose the fact that in order to have the money they need good/great customer service...well this place is exceptional!
The owners Mike and Dina are SO sweet, my boyfriend and I came in one day and they greeted us and introduced themselves to us and were friendly right away. You rarely see mom and pop places and the fact they make an effort to remember you and your name is pretty cool!
I've been a couple times and they always amaze me!
The food is soo good and their portion size is almost more than enough..its so good! My favorites would have to be the Hot & Delicious, This one includes bacon, turkey, and avocado (A LOT OF IT!!..more than subway puts! I mean they really stack this stuff). And I also love their breakfast burrito's. You can put whatever deli meat you want! It's amazing!! :D I normally get turkey and my boyfriend gets pastrami..you can't go wrong with any of them though. The prices don't hurt either, it's very reasonable.
If you want a good sandwich place where they treat you like family and the food is amazing..COME HERE!!!

In town on business and decided to try Beyer Deli based on the rave reviews on Yelp. I had the Reuben and my co-worker had the Macho something-er-other.
First, it is absolutely correct that the people who run this place are amazingly gracious and friendly. They truly care about pleasing their customers and are just nice people.
That said... I didn't think the food was anything special. Yes, it was decent deli food. It just wasn't anything close to 5-stars like most people have voted.
My co-worker and I are in the meat business and we noticed what brands of cured meats, pastrami, etc... they were using. Sadly, Beyer has chosen low and mid-level brands of cured meat and that really came through in the food. Furthermore, they seemed to use the microwave for over 75% of the orders while we were there.
Again: Microwave. In a deli. Rated 5 stars.
Would we go back? Yes, but mostly because the owners are so nice, not because the food is amazing.

This place is AWESOME!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE delis! It was super crowded when we went, so that HAS to be a good sign right? Indeed it was! The sandwiches here are AMAZING! Theyre huge and priced very good!!
What I love most is that they are super devoted to customer service! The owners are very sweet and take the time to actually talk to you and give you info about the sandwich and do not rush you at all!
The seating is plenty, we sat outside in the beautiful San Diego weather! We bit into our HUGE sandwiches and were moaning just over it all! SOOOO YUMMY!!
Go here if you want great customer service, awesome food, and a great deal! -

Another successful trip to the best Deli Ever. Today I had the new Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. Awesome blend of spicy and sweet from the squaw bread. The wifey had the Philly which never ever disappoints. This place is a Must Go for anyone from San Diego.

I love this place and the owners are good people!!!! The food is always fresh and always made to order the way you ask for it. Two of my favorite sandwiches are the three flags and comes with fresh cut Ham, Turkey, Salami, provolone and American cheese. TRY IT, YOU WON'T BE SORRY!!
They also have what I consider to be a difficult sandwich to find made well, which is their Tuna. Whenever I try Tuna anywhere else it tastes soooo plain and exactly like Tuna out of a can with Mayo but you won't have this problem at Beyer Deli.
They make their Tuna with the right amount of seasoning and texture is always consistently smooth, extremely tasty and in my opinion the BEST Tuna recipe in town. Try it on toasted sourdough, sliced tomatoes and purple onions then come back to Yelp and let me know how right I was. -

Why did it take me so long to finally try this place. I ordered the Raging Bull, and it was amazing. As good as my sandwich was,it takes a backseat to the service you get at this place. I will definitely be coming back and recommend Beyer Deli to anyone who asks "Where is a good place to eat in South San Diego?"

Shhhhh!
{whispering} - "I only passed by here because I was on the job and might I add, on the time clock. Little did they know there was a Deli near by at the rendezvous I was suppose to be at and by some dumb misfortune, I so happened to walk right in and secretly sneak in an order TO GO."
{still whispering} - "To my surprise, this deli serves a variety of sandwiches and me being on a Veggie Diet as of late, ordered the Veggie Sandwich. This sandwich was pretty huge and it tasted pretty fresh. And the speedy service was an added plus cause I really needed to get back to work."
{Yes...I'm still whispering} - "This sandwich was pretty good, but what I thought complimented it very well was the Tabasco Chips I ordered on the side...had a real good kick to it."
In closing, I give this little restaurant a lot of props because...oooops!

With the exception of the really hard parking (The lot is always crowded)...the Deli Rocks!!! -

If not for Yelp, I wouldn't have found this place.. I live literally 2 minutes away and see Beyer Deli each time I drive to the freeway. I've always driven by it, not giving it any thought. Thank you Yelp!
This place is located inside a business park so I've never had any reason to come here. I called ahead to place an order and the gentleman that answered was friendly and just by the tone of voice, I was able to tell he was happy!
When we picked up our food, it was already ready. The inside of the deli is really spacious and clean. They also have a colorful pictures of their catering menu. They also serve chips, cheesecake, carrot cake, bagels, and other pastries.
Ordered the chicken salad sandwich and the chicken club. Both sandwiches were HUGE! The chicken salad was fresh and the portion of chicken salad was hefty. The chicken club was served on a fresh torta with thick slices of bacon and a good amount of avocado. Delicious!! We also ordered a small sized potato salad which was good also. It was not all mayonnaisey like other places, and the potatoes were big cuts of potato.
Customer service and food are awesome. DEFINITELY coming back to try more! -

Beyer Deli is the best deli in South County, hands down. I am a regular, and I eat there two to three times a week. For months, I would order the same thing (Chicken Salad Sandwich) because it is absolutely perfect in every way. Now I've been trying a different sandwich every time I go. I think I've tried them all except for the tuna (I don't really like tuna). I can honestly say, though I have my favorites (Hot and Delicious, anyone?), they are ALL delicious in their own right; it just depends on your mood.
The portions are HUGE, but you can get a half sandwich in most cases. I think they don't do half for the sandwiches made on a torta, but if you substitute the torta for a different type of bread then they will (Sourdough is the way to go). On top of what's on the menu, they sometimes have daily specials with special cuts of meat on the dry erase board behind the cashier. It sells out quick, though.
The lunch rush is from about eleven to about half past noon. The line can get long, so calling in your order is the way to go around that time. It gets really busy. The clientele seems to be a mix of locals, teachers from the nearby schools, people from the business park in which the deli is located, and law enforcement (and I mean LOTS of law enforcement, which probably makes this the SAFEST place to eat in South County).
This deli is family owned (husband and wife team), and it shows. They make every effort to make you feel like part of the family, as well. Their personalities are warm and friendly. It seems like they know everybody's name who walks in there. They take the time to ask you how your day is going, how are the kids, how's the dog, etc. If you mention something to them on a prior visit (like a family member is sick, or you can't wait to see a new show, or something), they always remember and follow up.
Five stars does not do this place justice. Try it for yourself...and tell them I sent you! -

Talk about your hole-in-the-wall places.
This little deli is hidden in a commercial park, in the corner.
I tried the Chicken Salad sandwich on wheat with a side of the potato salad.
The sandwich itself was HUGE and packed with chicken salad.
Taste wise it was so-so, it could have used some bacon. But then again, everything is better with bacon. EVERYTHING.
Service was super nice, like they wanted each and everyone of their customers to have a great experience. Which I did have.
Pretty small place, maybe seats 15+ people. I didn't see a restroom though.
Will come back multiple times if I have to, to try pretty much everything on the menu. -

Hey everybody listen to me! I just had a sandwich, no ordinary sandwich, a Beyer Deli sandwich! I'm singing this by the way (you'll get it if u watch spongebob) Yum. Did I mention their sandwiches are good. And huge. I had a California triple decker and man I couldn't get to yelp fast enough. Also for the family got a veggie daughter loved, New Yorker, and raging bull. Yes I tasted everyone's sandwich all of them are hugeand good and half will fill you up. But I have to say the California is my fav. Mike you're awesome! Mike is awsome people. The best customer service in the world. So glad I found this place so close to home. So when ever I get my sandwich cravings I'll be eating at Beyer Deli! Yum! Still so happy about my sandwich I literally just finish eating. Oh Cash only.

Best sammy place in SD! Mike and the kids are awesome people. Can't get better customer service than what they provide. Been here twice with the wife and the sandwiches do not disappoint! We recently had the New Yorker and the Hot and Delicious. Wow! Soooo yummy in the tummy! I'm bringing a posse of people next time we go to share the wealth! haha!

This is one of my favorite local spots!
The food here is great and the people are awesome. Beyer Deli is a family run deli (husband and wife) that serves up all types of delicious sandwiches.
The first time I went I didn't realize that it was a cash only establishment but Tina was nice enough to take what little cash I had in exchange for my sub, soda and chips. Even if you don't go in too often they make an effort to remember your name, to me that says a lot, you just don't see that any more.
My favorite sandwiches are the "Manhandler" (pastrami, apple wood bacon, cole slaw and thousand island dressing on a french roll) the chicken salad sandwich and a good old fashioned turkey sandwich with avocado.
While the food is great the people are what keep me and the fellas from work coming back.
It isn't uncommon to see police officers, highway patrol officers and border patrol agents grabbing a sandwich to fuel up.
Genuinely good people and great food in a relaxed deli atmosphere!! -

I work close to Beyer Deli and tried it after hearing good recommendations from coworkers. Needless to say, they are simply amazing. It is a family owned business who really cares about their customers. The service is beyond perfect. The food is great. My favorite is the philly steak & cheese. It comes loaded with meat and melted cheese. The chili is GREAT. (add the onions and cheese) Some of my coworkers' favorites are the Manhandler, the Hoggie, and the spicy chicken. I come at least once a week and will continue to do so! The fact that the local law enforcement loves this place says a lot!

First of all: Best customer service. EVER. Michael and Dina never forget a friendly face and are extremely amicable, along with the rest of the family! The food is just breathtaking. I've gone 3-4 times, each time with friends and all of us were treated in the most commodious manner possible and were treated to the BEST sandwiches we've ever had. I've personally tried the BBR Wrap, California Triple Stacker, and my personal favorite: the Chicken Club! All were great and at this point, I doubt anything on their menu disappoints. Even their homemade brownies are grade A! Gotta thank yelp for helping me discover this place. Beyer Deli is definitely a MUST HAVE within ones lifetime, thanks Mike and Dina!

If I want a deli sandwich this is the place to go. I've been there twice so far and they remember me! That is awesome. They really care about there customers. If your like me and can't eat a huge sandwich they will serve 1/2 sandwiches for almost any sandwich they have. You may just have to choose a different bread. I'm very happy with this deli and will continue to eat there.
