The family & I headed to Tofino for a mere 1 night stay a couple days after the Christmas holiday. We opted to stay @ the Tin Wis Resort due to the inexpensive rates found in a local newspaper and proximity to Tofino, without being located directly in the town core.
We were surprised to find it a Best Western chain of hotels upon pulling-in, it was not mentioned in the ad... Nor did it deter from the experience upon checking in, as one may possibly expect from this chain that doesn't exactly have the most upscale reputation.
Many parts of the resort have recently completed, or were undergoing renovations.
Thus my parents had a beautiful newly decorated room with extensive, unobstructed views of the Pacific, a cook-top stove, fridge, fully stoked kitchenette, fireplace and patio. Meanwhile I stayed in one of Tin Wis's many main-floor level pet-friendly rooms with the dog; so convenient! The brothers tried out the hot-tub facility and mentioned it was clean and unlike some hotel hot-tubs- it was actually hot. Go figure!
The resort is run by what I could easily call some of the nicest staff I have come across through my years of travel; very accommodating, friendly, helpful.
Plus the access to pristine MacKenzie beach can't be beat... What a beautiful stretch of sandy ocean-front property. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. -

Although I had never heard of Torfino before, I was looking forward to visiting as I'm a fan of beach towns. We headed up on Victoria Day, expecting to get a great deal on a room because everyone had left after the three day weekend.
After driving up and down the main strip looking for a nice (cheapish) place to stay, we settled here. We were given a corner upstairs room, with a great view of the ocean.
All in all, it wasn't bad...except they were currently in the process of repainting the bathroom. Which is fine, they are allowed to do that, but then give us a deep discount on the room.
They do lend out rain coats and wellies for when you want to head down to the rainy beach and go looking for shells, and the hot tub, while not as clean as I've seen, isn't horrible.
For an ocean view, it's not bad- just ask if your room is currently under construction.Listed in: Oh Canada...

We only ate dinner here and it was such a treat :) Food and wine were divine and service was stellar :)

Too much like a motel for the price. Nice views and grounds, but there are better deals for better hotels in Tofino.
