Review from Eric B.
In some ways, Sherwood Park is a bedroom community for folks who work in the nearby petrochemical industries. My company has a few facilities up towards Fort Saskatchewan and this hotel (now called Coast Edmonton East Hotel) is one of the better places to stay in the immediate area. However, suburbia can eventually get boring, so occasionally I'll accept the longer drive (20 minutes), stay in downtown Edmonton and enjoy the river valley and the nearby Strathcona District.
The rooms here are comfortable and I have always felt well taken care of here. The hotel restaurant and bar and pleasant and plug ins are available in the winter for the car.
All the businesses along Wye and Baseline roads are a short drive away and access to Highway 16 (Yellowhead) is easy. And Millennium Place, which features skating and hockey rinks, soccer fields, an indoor track, a sauna, a pool, and fitness centre is directly connected during those cold winter evenings when you just want to stay in. -

Calgary, AB
Due to a large concert in town I had to look for a hotel outside of the usual downtown suspects. I found the Coast Edmonton East Hotel. Reviews seemed OK, and truth be told it is OK.
Off to a rough star: The room type wasn't what I reserved, and the door keys didn't work. But a quick-ish room change and I was settled.
The room was not cleaned particularly well, and there could be some maintenance/repairs done.
I was a little disappointed given their 3.5 star rating from Canada Select.
All in all, not a bad place to stay. -

Pros:
Very convenient to the business I was visiting
Enough space in the room to do some yoga
Complimentary breakfast had yogurt (see below)
Pedway to Millennium Place, a county recreation center
Friendly front desk staff
Cons
Beds were squishy
Complimentary breakfast comprised mostly of mystery egg & meat products
If you're staying at this hotel highly recommend the fitness facility at Millennium Place. For $7.50, you get access to the gym for the day. I wasn't able to attend any of the group fitness classes, but I did use the treadmill and weights. I even got to try the Jacob's ladder machine, which I'd read about. Weekdays they open from 5:30 AM - 11 PM. Don't know about weekends. Millennium Place is also an option if you want a quick bite or need some coffee. They also have a small running store.
