Review from Jean F.
We were not told by Expedia that this hotel was being renovated. That meant this morning at 7:00 AM workers started hammering, banging and operating heavy machinery. Then at 8:20 AM someone activated the fire alarm. All the guests came out looking for a fire: it was a false alarm. When we went to the restaurant La Fenouillere, alledgedly one of 5 best kitchens in Quebec city, the waiters were rude to us and refused that we sit at one of the six empty 4 people tables. We left without tasting their truly expensive breakfast. Added to that, the free wireless internet did not work from our room. One more thing: since we purchased our reservations thru Expedia at a bargain price, this Best Western gave us the worst possible room with the view of the reception hall roof. It's the first time that we went to a Best Western that provides only one soap for both the bathroom sink and the shower. Even though they call themselves "Aristocrat" in realty they are cheapskates.
I would not recommend this hotel to my worst ennemy.
09/21/11: We went back to this hotel because we had business in Quebec City and after our last visit, the administration wanted us to stay there free of charge. Even though there were still some construction, at least noise was kept at a minimum. Internet worked great in that room on the first floor. Everything was clean but there is still that body soap in a bottle that we cannot get use to. All in all this was a nuch better experience than the first time. I still prefer Best Western hotels to any others in the world. We feel at home. So I'm changing my rating to 4 stars.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Review from Sara B.
I stayed here for two days on vacation, after spending two days in a much smaller boutique with fewer amenities. While that experience was fine for what it was, stepping into the Hotel L'aristocrate was like returning to some alien world of luxury.
It's your basic hotel for business travelers, with all the trappings that come along: High-speed Internet (although it's through WIRES. Who does that anymore?!), a fridge in the room, flat-screen TV. And the bed. I could write paragraphs about the bed.
I had a king-size bed with the best linens I've ever seen in a hotel. They're not scratchy, they're thick and warm, and there isn't that gross shiny hotel coverlet that you just know is covered in DNA. The bed is amazing.
The hotel is located about a fifteen-minute drive from Old Quebec; the only places within walking distance are a small shopping center with a grocery store, pharmacy, and several restaurants. But it's great if you're in town for business and have a car, less optimal if you'd like to sight-see on foot. The staff is bilingual and very helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
