Great hotel! The Quaker Oats factory is right across the street so the smell outside is terrific! The hotel is right by the river and everything is so green. The staff was polite and friendly. Hotel was clean and comfortable.

You can purchase a meal ticket for $5 per person at the front desk and take it to the restaurant next door and order any breakfast. The prices on the menu were about $7-$9 so it saves you a couple dollars per person. It also includes coffee or milk. The food was very good. I don't recommend the $5 ticket for chldren. The kids menu prices are cheaper so I recommend paying the menu price on kids' breakfasts.

First of all one has to normalize for brand and location.

This ain't LA or DC or any other major city.  This also ain't Weston or W or Hilton or Marriott.

What it is : clean with good towels, decent restaurant and bar just off of downtown.   Beds were not comfortable.

If you keep your expectations low you won't be disappointed.

    The hotel (4+ / 5):
I thought the location (near downtown and I-380) was really good for us.  That is, we had good access to local activities and restaurants.  The kids really enjoyed the pool and spa.  The chairs and beds were all comfortable,  I was a part of a group spread out across two rooms, but we were comfortable when socializing within one room.  I thought that the room was clean and that the furnishings were good condition.

The rooms included a coffee maker, refrigerator, and a microwave, which we used.  (The refrigerator did freeze some of our drinks, though.)  The television worked well, and had the usual basic cable selection.

    The restaurant (3/5):
About half of our group really, truly enjoyed our breakfast., and the other half didn't like it so much.  I really liked my breakfast bagel (with egg and meat) for its warm hearty goodness.  Another member of my party had a similar sandwich, and didn't like it very much.  The two younger kids with us didn't like their pancakes, but adults in the group thought the hotcakes beat expectations.  I'm not sure how to convey the "split" decision here, but it may be that perhaps dishes don't consistently deliver here.

Generally, portions were generous, and the server did a good job of working with a (diet-related) substitution.

RIGHT across the river from downtown. There's a placard behind the front desk showing how high the flood waters got in 2008. I stayed here for 2 nights for work and was pleased. The heat/ac unit worked, there was a fridge and microwave in the room, there were no bedbugs, bed was comfy, and I had a fantastic view of the Quaker Oats plant. One of the desk kids wasn't very helpful, but I think it's just because 20-21 year old boys tend to be kind of jerks sometimes. The other staff were friendly and helpful. There's a bar/restaurant on the first floor than seemed MUCH less depressing than your usual hotel bars.
