After being sent to this Best Buy from another Best Buy location (38th Ave. NW) to have my car starter/remote keyless entry installed, I was told that I would need to pay for a few additional charges that the last best buy had missed on my work slip (For full information regarding this, please see my other review for the 38th Ave. location). I was told that I would have to get the refund from the other Best buy, as they were the location that sold me the unit/work slip. That was ok with me, it was not the 137 Ave. location's fault, and they are just doing it by the numbers.

After getting the unit installed, I took it home. There seemed to be some problems with it, as it would give the Brake Push error if the car had been turned off for more than 5 minutes, causing it not to start.

I took the car back in (3 p.m.), and the guy took it right in to take a look at it. He initially thought it was a quick fix for a problem with the bypass module, but it turned out to be something a little bigger. He was only supposed to work until 5 that day, but he stayed until the work was done properly (until 6, without overtime pay). I have had it in my car for 2 days now, and it is working perfectly. He spent a lot of time talking to bother Viper and iDatalink on the phone to get it worked out, and in the end he got it figured. I truly appreciate his hard work and dedication to a properly working product, and for this, I will gladly drive all the way across the city for my electronic purchases as opposed to going to a Best Buy location that blatantly lied to me (Once again, read my review for the 38th Ave. NW Location).

If you need a car starter installed and you want to save the cash/don't mind booking a few months in advance, this is the Best Buy location to go to.

Whatever your electronic needs are, Best Buy is almost guaranteed to have it. They have a very comprehensive website, and for lazy people like me, you can order something online and just pick it up at any location which has the product in stock. Having multiple locations around Edmonton make hard-to-find items easier to obtain.

I was here during the day and my first reaction was "Does anyone work here"? Other than the store greeter, I barely got any attention as I was walking in the store. The store was essentially deserted. It felt as if everyone was either hiding, or just avoiding eye contact with me as I walked by them.

There are a lot of sales at Best Buy, which make their prices very attractive. They have a huge inventory of movies, games, music, and tvs. I found their camera section to be a bit lacking, and it doesn't help that half their units were damaged, had no power, or simply refused to work. Regardless, Best Buy is one of my first choices for my electronic needs. I always find myself scanning their flyer every week to find out the best deals of the week. If they had some form of service here, I'd give them a higher rating. Otherwise, don't expect much customer support while you're here.

I love Best Buy! Even though it's basically the same as Future Shop, I love Best Buy so much more! I think I have figured out why though. The Best Buy colours, blue and yellow, are so inviting, calming, and attractive. I also think they must trigger something in my brain and make me want to buy things, because I rarely leave here empty handed.

I've gotten so many good deals here on DVD movies, flashdrives, and video games. I bought my XBOX 360 here (yes, I'm a major geek), and I was so happy that I got two really awesome games with it for free. I even got a 13-month XBOX Live membership for $50, and it's usually $60. Also, Best Buy is the only place that has these particular Panasonic headphones that I love. These are the bigger-type of headphones and are only $30! They are popular though, and the stores almost always sell out, but you can buy them on Best Buy's website.

Although Best Buy promotes itself as having no-pressure, no-commission sales staff, I still find myself bothered by them at times. Sometimes I can't walk 10 steps without having another staff member ask me if I need help. Also, whenever I buy a big-ticket item, I get a huge speech about how I need to buy the extra-protection warranty, and they act like I'd be stupid not to get it.

I also love Best Buy, because it's just fun to walk around, look at stuff, and try it out. It's always cool to check the new Apple computers on display or the new ipods.

Best Buy isn't always cheap though. You definitely have to watch your prices. And watch out for the staff too--don't let them talk you into those extra warranties!

Best Buy is a great store, and it would be even better if the quality of customer service approved. I was at Best Buy during boxing week looking for a laptop, and not a single customer service representative inquired whether I needed any help. Even my "Hello" and "Excuse me" could not get me their attention. Of course, I can blame hectic atmosphere in the store during boxing week, but now that I think about it, on several occasions during not busy store hours, I had to work hard at getting sales associates' attention and assistance. These guys are either here for you, and assist you in the most professional manner, or they are nowhere to be found.
I did end up purchasing beautiful laptop at a good price, and the guy who processed my purchase was fun and friendly. He did try to sell extra protection warranty, service packages and what not, but wasn't overly pushy about it.
Generally, Best Buy is just as nice as Future Shop, and sells similar merchandise. Prices are very much alike as well. At Best Buy, there are always latest electronics in stock, and products often go on sale. It is possible to negotiate a price for big ticket items such as TVs.
My husband buys PC games here, and since he does so quite often, I guess the selection is good and ample. I, on the other hand, really like Best Buy's selection of DVDs: there are thousands of titles, and frequent sales.

I can usually find what I'm looking for at Best Buy. I bought my beloved digital camera here and many other electronic like my home phones, memory cards, CDs, DVDs, phone head set, etc. The prices are fairly good and comparable with other stores like it. However, when I do have a question I often have a hard time finding someone to help me or when I do get bounced from sales person to sales person, department to department. The attitude that "this is not my department" bugs me.

On March 18, 2010 I purchased a Brother MFC-225W and the salesperson was quite pleasant.  After some thought I took out a four year extended warranty because myself and a friend were informed by doing so, the four year warranty would start immediately, and it would override the manufactures warranty. In the case of any problems with the printer all I had to do was take it back to the store and they would exchange it if it was too much to fix it.
I called and spoke with a service technician, and he informed me to bring it into the store and they would send it to their repair shop, and if it's not fixable an
exhange would take place. So I went to Best Buy right away, and what I am about to say has been of a poor experience.

However, yesterday Jan 4, 2011, I took the printer in for repairs, as the black inkwell would not work unless if I put it through a manual cleaning when ever I wanted to print a page or two.
While standing at customer service I was informed it was still under the manufacturers warranty and the warranty I paid for was uselss. A total different story than what I was told upon purchasing the printer. After speaking with some friends, they too have been told the same story as I was when they purchased a product there in regards to the warranties.
After about a good 1/2 hour debating this, with  girl, she finally called Brother in Montreal and was put on hold for at least another 15'.
Brother's did not want to be honourable and stand behind their warranty.
After a period of time, I took the phone and spoke to this individual who was not a people person to deal with such issues.
After some negotiations over the phone, and giving the guy my personal information over the phone he agreed to exchange this printer with a MFCJ465W. We repeated this number four times back and forth after the girl wrote it down. Then he requested that I send him a copy of my receipt and an agreement that I would accept this new printer, by faxing it so the shipments of exchange would be activated immediately. He also stated that Brothers would cover all shipping costs.
I ask the girl if she was going to fax him the copy, and she said she would do the search via Brothers site to get the fax number and follow through faxing as promised. Now all this took place over one hour of my time, and I was late for my appointed that I had.
He informed me he would call UPS to call me this morning to set up a time to pick this old printer up.  So in the afternoon I called UPS to inquire and see if an order for a  shipment was initiated, of course, there was none put in. Furthermore, when I got home I thought I would go into Brothers site and check up on this new printer he said he would send, well folks there was nothing in the internet about this machine, so I guess it is a machine that is a ghost somewhere, but where. There is no printer under the numbers he gave me.

So WARNING TO ALL CUSTOMERS, be aware that selling promises are very deceptive, and the warranties mean nothing. If the warranty would of started, as promised, the day I purchased this machine, there would of been no problem, but I became a victim of deception through this stores manipulative ways in selling warranties.
I asked the girl if my warranty that I paid for will carry on after this episode and she said it would, but time will tell.

Now I am out of a printer that is needed badly.
    Very disappointed.
