This is the Best Buy I always go to if I'm looking for a new video game or DVD. It's located a few blocks away from the Broadway-City Hall skytrain station, so it is really easy to get to if you don't have a car. It's also connected by a hallway to Canadian Tire, which is convenient when it is raining outside.
The layout is a bit different than I'm used to since you have to go down a set of stairs to get to the main level of the store. Although the layout is different, there is plenty of stock, especially for new releases. It's also pretty easy to find what section you're looking for. I haven't seen many employees walking around, but the line-up has never been bad when I've wanted to pay.
Overall, I have no real complaints about this Best Buy. -

All the best buy stores are massive but this one location sucks. I understand that best buy employees are not on commission but the customer service is terrible. I was waiting around and looking for a employee in a blue polo and khaki's to help me. it took me a while before someone finally helped me. The other thing is when I am asking questions about a certain product and asking for a comparison with another I expect a best buy employee to be knowable but I got basically bullshit.
I don't recommend anyone go to this location unless you know what your looking for the staff here are useless....
and they seem very under staffed -

Never ever going to preorder a Collector's edition with this Best Buy ever again. I preordered the Zelda Collector's Edition several months ago, but apparently they started handing out their copies to first-come-first-serve customers this morning and ran out for people who preordered. This is the 2nd time I've had this problem with Best Buy (they never actually got in Collector's Editions for another game despite taking money for it).
When I came to the register (only an hour after they opened on release day) and asked for my preordered Zelda, an employee-manager-type scurried over to let me know that they had sold out of all of the Collector's copies to people who had NOT preordered, that it wasn't the Best Buy employees' fault (a "computer problem"), that they would not be getting in any more Collector's copies ever, and then she offered to sell me the regular edition Zelda with a discounted Wii Plus remote. She also tried to convince me that the Collector's Edition didn't actually come with a Wii Plus capable remote (wrong!), so that I was, in fact, getting a better deal.
So in other words, absolutely no compensation for screwing up a preorder AGAIN.
It's frustrating because I could have reserved somewhere else months ago. Well, I've learned my lesson this time and I will never preorder a Collector's Edition from Best Buy Canada again. For a regular edition, no problem, they have a mountain of those. But if you want to get the limited release copy of something that's not made in mass bulk, good luck.
I know this is somewhat ridiculous because we're talking about me getting mad over a video game here, but dammit, I get excited for these little geek pleasures. -

BEST BUY = WORST BUY!!!!
Never ever ever ever buy a laptop from Best Buy. The service SUCKS, people are RUDE, they do not help you nor do they know ANYTHING!!
Geek Squad should be named LAZY SQUAD, all they ever do is talk to each other and turn their back on you. Save yourselves from all the headache and time, go to Future Shop, London Drugs, Office Depot or any other store!! WASTE OF TIME!!! -
Review from Luisa D.
There always seem to be a million staff on but they're all hanging around the mobile telephone station not really helping anyone. It's useful for some items but I've always had better service at Future Shop. I just went here because I needed a gift card for my brother and this place is closer to his home.

It must be the way it's all displayed, but I want to spend spend spend when in here! I love wandering around, trying out the 3D glasses, the consoles, looking at the latest phones, is another form of window shopping for me!
But last weekend I picked up a TV at last! It's purely for gaming, so is 'only' 32'', but I got a nice deal on it :) I think. There's always that worry you wander in the following weekend and there it is with a $100 price drop. That's life! I've also bought games, a tablet, earphones, and more in here :) Always seems a little pricey to me, but when you need it quick, it's just handy, right?
The one thing I'd recommend is don't buy cables here (like HDMI), they're really over-priced. Also, I'm told the male toilets can be pretty scary :D -

Like any man I get all tingly inside when I enter a shop filled with electronics...some things I guess are just part of our DNA...Best Buy always gets me going..I have sudden urges to buy big screen tvs and trip out my pad with a wicked surround sound system and have a computer in every room...thank god I cancelled my Best Buy card....
I also have a little problem with buying dvds and they have a great selection and they are the most affordable you can get...I have personally kept this location open with my dvd buying addiction....
I wouldn't say that service is anything to Yelp at...but you will get a few "can I help you find anything" remarks if you are looking at bigger cost items like TV's or stereos... but when you actually do need help no one seems to be around... -

The location where it sits is nice, but the inside store looks dark and messy. There are so many items that need to be put on clearance already. The truth is if you're a techie then you know they're selling mostly out-dated and over-priced stuff. Looking for good prices on peripherals for your PC? You know this isn't the place to look. This place caters to people who want to buy assembled computers and electronics that don't need much fiddling around with anymore. It even offers Geek Squad installation and repair service for people who don't care to pay for over-priced quotations.
I purchased a home server and all it really needs is to follow the directions with the supplied installation discs with all the necessary cables right in the box, but of course they were offering me their installation service for an affordable $150 service fee. Wow, really. And don't get me started with their extended service where most will experience nothing while within the warranty and those that do will experience it within the manufacturer warranty.
So why do I still purchase here? Well, if you're going to purchase something that is sold everywhere and is aggressively price protected by the manufacturer to be sold only at MSRP (i.e. Apple), might as well purchase it right here where you get a:
(1) 14-day price protection on computers and peripherals; 30-days on other items.
(2) 90-day same as cash perk which means you can do whatever payment you want to give or none at all without interest as long as you pay the whole bill on the 90th day. Otherwise, a shitload of interest fee will rain down on your ass.
(3) Best Buy Rewards - every $400 in spending will give you 400 points which means a $5 certificate that you can use any which way in Best Buy to spend and repeat the process all over again.
Service and knowledge on a specific item varies depending on who you ask for assistance. The people at the customer service section are nice and helpful. If you have a genuine case for concern or a simple price-match, they will help you out any which way they can.
I would have to reiterate to watch out for pricing because they can get carried away especially with Apple accessories which are being sold more than what the Apple store is selling it for. Which I believe they are doing on purpose because they know they can't sell below Apple's MSRP. And if you're smart enough to price-shop before heading to Best Buy, you know they will match the price of any authorized dealer and even beat it by 10% of the difference. So there you go. You get to grab the item lower than MSRP. Good for you. Good for Best Buy. :) -

One of my favorite areas in the city to hang out in, the Cambie and Broadway corridor has kept growing, store after store, and with Best Buy there, it just makes my time spent in this area even more enjoyable. I love electronics stores, and Best Buy is one of the most organized in regards to their selection, and floor layout.
They have revamped their video game department, and just trying out demos of some games on their massive tv's is a joy, and sometimes a sale in it's own right. I find I never really ever have a problem finding what is advertised on sale in their flyer, and the staff is pretty helpful.
Your never pressured to buy anything, as they say the staff does not work on commission, and the other reason I shop here is they price match with other competitors, even their own other retail chain called Future Shop. And after I shop here, there is just so much other things to do in the neighborhood, like shop for grocery's, or go eat at the many restaurants in walking distance! -

Bought a TV and within a month a week it came down over $300 dollars in price. They only price protect for 30 days and "that's our policy". Even though if I had bought the TV at Visions they price protect for 2 months. I am choked and would tell anyone be very care full you are not covered if the price goes down!

One of the newest Best Buy's to enter the Vancouver Market - it has a unique layout. You walk in upstairs, and have to walk down a flight of stairs (or take an elevator) to get to the main store. They have a good layout making sure you walk through those compulsive shopping areas (like movies and music).
The staff is super knowledgeable and friendly... and (*drumroll please*).... they DO NOT work on commission! (yay!)... finally, a electronics store where you don't feel pressured!! -

I have a love/hate relationship this this place. Love the selection and there can be some great prices, hate the dishonest upselling of useful power supplies for big screen TV's.

Review from Sam L.
Being a big box retail outlet, I was determined to despise Best Buy, yet despite my best efforts I've come to really like this place. On my first visit, I was expecting to be swarmed by sales people, and despite the fact that there were dozens of them all over the place, this didn't happen. I had a few questions about something I was looking to purchase, so I tracked one of the blue shirts down and explained what I needed - they didn't try and upsell me and they were extremely helpful, giving me the options and letting me come to my own conclusions. I found this surprising since Best Buy operates under the same umbrella as Future Shop, which is exactly the opposite. Since my first visit, I've been back to buy all kinds of things, including big ticket items like my iMac. However, if you're a real tech geek or audiophile, you will probably be better off at a specialty shop, as Best Buy really only sells big name stuff.

Well after a couple of purchases here I find the staff very friendly and very hard to find. They also lack cashiers, I find it rather ironic that such a big store has only one cashier with a huge lineup every time I have made purchase. So they get 3*... They do have some of the best prices and even better than across the line down south.

A poor-mediocre choice of products/brands and staff generally have to ask someone else any question you have which typically results in 'no, we've never had that in stock'.
