Review from Simon K.
The new 'big-box' store in the Metrotown area has arrived! Right on Kingsway, across from the mall, and very spacious compared to their sister company Future Shop. I like walking into Best Buy, as the sales people do not push for the sale, or somehow if your walking in the tv isle, they try to bust out a deal with their pen and paper to sell you a tv you are just observing. It does not happen here, as they say that the sales associates are not on commission.
It's the place to be if your looking for games, cd's, dvd's, big name brand computer's, dvd's, the list goes on! And if you bring a competitor's flyer, and it's cheaper, they price match, and if you saw it cheaper across the street at Future Shop, they will just check the system, as their product numbers are identical. There also is not as much traffic of people compared to Station Square, for a more peaceful shopping experience. There is parking underground, and yes, it is paid parking, but they give you the money back at the till, so your $2 something is saved! -

Decent prices if you know what you're looking for. Sometimes the online listing will show a store has an item in stock but it doesn't.
Phone accessory stock was pretty limited.
Of course every large electronics piece also comes with a pitch for the warranty, which for some things can be worth it - laptop was something I wanted it. The price on the warranty is negotiable, you should be with little effort be able to do at least as good as a 3 year for a 2 year price.
Was a little upset at laptop bag selection, I feel they're missing an opportunity here - only 1 option for 15" laptops, and it was $30. Nope... -
Review from Pia W.
I have been waiting for a chance to make a purchase on a new cell phone. So I walked into Best Buy (because they had a good promo for buying the phone from them) with the decision made already that I would be buying one -- literally had money ready to pay kind of buying. Here is my play-by-play experience:
Best Buy Mobile Sales Associate: Hi, how can we help you?
Me: Hi, I would like to purchase a [enter cell phone name/brand here].
The two Asian Best Buy Sales Associate guys sitting at the counter stared at me, blinking. Silence elapsed for at least 30-40 seconds.
Me: So where do we start? How can we get this process going?
Best Buy Mobile Sales Associate: Oh, we've sold out on the phone...you're going to have to come back sometime next week.
Duhhh...
So guess where Best Buy lost their stars in this review? Customer service -- does it really take that long to process my blunt and explicit statement that I want to buy the phone?
I must admit, this is the second time I have experienced customer service hiccup at Best Buy (funny enough, regarding the same cell phone I have been trying to get for the past month) -- Summary of that experience: The Best Buy website stated/advertised that they were accepting pre-orders for the phone in-stores only. I go into a Best Buy store, and the sales associate AND the manager had no idea what I was talking about.
Seriously, I just wanted to buy one phone, get the phone, pay for it and leave -- this should not take as much effort and time as anyone would in planning for a wedding or a strategic market positioning of a product. -

What I like about this Best Buy is the relaxed atmosphere. I can walk inside and browse some items without being hassled by salespeople. However, it can get too relaxed to the point that it's hard to find help. It's almost as if they're short of sales staff because they're always busy with something. There is a large selection of electronics and the prices are decent for non-sale items. It's better than Future Shop, even though it's owned by the same people. Less noise and wider aisles.
