Omg such delicious bagels. Bernoulli's is responsible for turning many of my crappy mornings into amazing ones. They claim to be "authentic Montreal-style" but I have had those before and these are way more more delicious and fluffy!
You can buy 6 "day-old" bagels (once I bought a bunch that were so stale that they must have been older) for $2.25 tax in, or fresh bagels at $0.90 apiece, which are in my opinion much more worth it. You can also buy their delicious house-made cream cheese in a tub to go, but it seems awfully pricey (something around $7 and I'm not quite sure how much you get). They also have lots of bagel sandwiches, but I'm not generally a fan of those and I've never tried them.
I would classify Bernoulli's as vegan-friendly, as most of the bagels except the Jalapeno cheddar and chocolate chip (which is almost a doughnut anyway) bagels are vegan, and there are two cream cheese flavours that are vegan too (pesto and roasted red pepper - both delicious!).
They get 4 stars because 1) you can't pay with your ubc card and 1) it's a little pricy to be student-worthy. Don't get me wrong, compared to Tims their bagels are vastly superior, but a bagel + cream cheese is $2.95 (at tims, it's $2).Listed in: UBC

I've walked past Bernoulli's many times in SUB, and since I forgot my lunch today I decided to try them out. Bernoulli's have a huge selection of bagels, including vegan options. Bagel options include foccacia, chocolate chip, wheat, and onion and garlic. They also have many different cream cheeses to choose from.
If you want something more adventurous than a bagel, they offer a variety of breakfast bagel sandwiches, bagel melts, and bagel sandwiches. You even get to pick your own bagel! The prices are very reasonable, with the most expensive thing on the menu (that I saw) being $6.50.
To order, you go up to the counter, where you pay and are given a number. Most bagels are ready in under 5 minutes, with sandwiches taking longer. It's a pretty good system, and very efficient especially with longer lines.
I decided to opt for the Mexiwich breakfast sandwich (even though it was after lunch) on a sundried tomato bagel. The sandwich came with an egg cooked with peppers and a good amount of salsa. The bagel was soft and not too chewy, which I appreciated. The egg was a bit small compared to the size of the bagel, but the entire sandwich was delicious!
I will definitely come back, if only to try their cinnamon sugar cream cheese.Listed in: Best Places On UBC Campus

You order, pay, get a number, and voila your bagel is ready! The best bang for your buck is ordering one of their bagels with one of their unique flavours of cream cheese and you're set. They have a cinnamon sugar cream cheese if you're feeling like something sweet, or they have dill which is delish, among other fun kinds. The bagels are fresh tasting and aren't made with sketchy ingredients. They have a selection of elaborate bagel melts and such that take a bit longer to make, and are ridiculously filling, but are still great.
Inexpensive and timely, Bernoulli's in the student union building is perfect for lunch on-the-go at the UBC campus. -

Ahh Bernoulli's. You're good in a pinch, but that's about it. The breakfast sammy's aren't bad at all first thing in the morning, and they do have a pretty good selection...not like Solly's in terms of yum factor, but still good to have on campus. Customer service not always the best. A lot of the time the staff seem new, or not to know how the computer system works.
However they are always friendly, if occasionally a little confused haha. For example - one time ordered a pizza bagel, which is more like a pretzel with pizza crap on top. Got it, with a biiiiiig long blonde hair on it. Took it to the girl behind the counter and told her there was a hair on it. "Oh." She said, taking it from me and removing the hair. Pause. "Do you still want it?"
"Um...no. That's ok." It was more funny than anything but still. Hairy bagels are a no-go in my book haha.Comment from Uli L. of Bernoulli's Bagels 1/11/2012

I LOVE BAGEEEELLLLSSSS!!! GO GO POWER BAGELS!
Aside from my love from bagels, this place satisfies my urge for teh nom nomz for bagels. This place is 1337 in terms of bagel power. Ok internet speak stops now.
So this place is in UBC, and it's pretty cheap actually. Breakfast bagels are 3.50 and you get around 4-5 options to choose from. There are plenty bagels in the sea... I mean counter to choose from. I usually take the multigrain one because I'm a healthy person like that (boasting mode on).
I dunno if it's because its multigrain, but the bagel tends to be hard (that's what she said) even though it was toasted. Hmmm. Anyway I think this place is still good. I usually go here after work (AMS staff gets free food voucher).
Price is around $2-7 depending on what you choose from. The bagels that ccost around $5 are kinda meh though, because you only get the bagels with no sides, so it's kindaaaa not worthed, but there's not really other bagel places around UBC so yeah.
Anyway now stop reading this and SATISFY YOUR NOM NOMZ FOR BAGELS! -

Ok, Vancouver is not a city that it is easy to find a good bagel in. Bernoulli's in the Student Union Building at UBC offers Montreal style bagels that are a decent rendition. No, they are not the bagels you will find back east. But it is a long trip to get a bagel, so these will make due out here.
They make their bagels with fresh yeast, don't add preservatives, boil them in honey water, and bake them on clay. I don't think they use a wood fired oven - but the clay bottomed oven does make the bottom crisp.
They also offer a variety of bagel sandwiches which are passable - but I'm generally not a fan of putting anything on a bagel other than cream cheese and lox! They do commit what I view as a bagel sin - they add mayo to sandwiches. Yikes! But if you want a decent bagel in Vancouver, this is probably one of the better options. -

I guess I can't say too much about this place other than I really dig the Whole Wheat Cinnamon Raisin. It's all I get when I forget breakfast and it hits the spot. I'm from Montreal so it's nothing like the real bagel (there should be more hole and consistency denser) but there is much worse in Van City.
They have a wide variety and lots of cream cheeses to pick from so it's a great spot on campus for a cheap snack. It's also run by the student AMS society so better than supporting the large Subway conglomerate! -

Fine bagels, but nothing to write home about and certainly not worth the price (although there are so few options at UBC, you are kind of trapped.) A previous reviewer noted the bagels are Montreal style, but they definitely seemed too bland and not really crisp to hold there own in Montreal.
I usually get a poppy seed with some shmeer, but tried the four cheese and that was definitely a rip off and not extremely appetizing. The cheeses did not mix well and were kind of greasy. -

I went here for the first time in years today and their bagels are quite nice. I had the Soprano bagel melt on Italian Cheese bagel which consisted of salami, mozzarella, mushroom, peppers... and yummy goodness!
The bagel itself was soft, but bagel-y! I'm tempted to go there and get a baker's dozen for home.
It was filling for me. They have soup specials and other bagel sandwiches and breakfast specials. I'll probably be frequenting Bernoulli's more often when I'm in the SUB. It beats Tim Horton's bagels any day!
Oh one thing: They're cash only! And they close around 5 or 6... -

Pretty good selection of bagels. Some ingredients such as certain types of cream cheese and smoked salmon aren't always available, so make sure you make them double check before you pay.
Kind of pricey for university students (i.e. me 2 years ago), But decent. Wasn't a fan of the coffee.
You're also probably going to be in for a long wait if there are at least more than two people ahead of you so plan accordingly. I wouldn't buy food from here if you have less than 15 mins to get to class.
Cash only. They also serve nachos and other light food via the window in the Gallery. -

I come here often because I love bagels. This is probably the second best bagel place in Vancouver that I've tried so the 3* might be harsh but the best bagel place probably gets 4*.
I normally get a sesame bagel with plain cream cheese. They're pretty generous with the cream cheese here and it sets you back about $2.50 overall which is reasonable.
Overall, the bagels don't have that dense chewiness that I like in a bagel Siegal's bagels are much better, although I am looking forward to having some good ny bagels some day.
All the 'sandwhichy" type bagels, I do not recommend. Firstly, it usually takes a really long time. Second, most of its just wrong: bagels should be with cream cheese only, maybe butter + cream-cream cheese. Third: the ingredients they use just normally aren't very good. -

I enjoy a good Montreal-style bagel as much as the next person, but preparation-for-eating is half the battle. Often, Bernoulli's falls down in this respect. There are two places where your order may stumble. The first is a slow or lost order. Bernoulli's is often very busy and its not totally unusual for their automated system to screw up or for you to be waiting around for 10 minutes after you've placed your order. The second place your order may stumble is in the toasting. Their plain toasted bagels rarely reach the epitome of crispy-crunchy on the outside and hot-n-chewy on the inside. Instead, they're usually just warmed and soft. Boo!

I heart Bernoulli's! They saved me from many a hungry morning at UBC and I am eternally grateful. You can get a pretty cheap bite here and if you want more then just a bagel with flavorful cream cheese, ask to add tomatoes for a nominal fee.
I love their sun dried tomato bagel with garlic chive cream cheese, but the garlic is kickin' so you may want to pop a mint after.
They also have nice cheap snacks for the student on the go like a pizza bagel which is best warm, and bagel chips.
Go early and grab a bag of day old bagels for next to nothing, then store them in your freezer for whenever's clever. -

This is one of my usual lunch spots at UBC. Great selection of different bagels (including vegan) to go with a variety of toppings. People there are quite friendly. My favourite bagel sandwich is the veggie bagel burger on organic multigrain (and they know it), which always gets a compliment at the lunch table. The smoked BC salmon and cream cheese is also great--with capers and pickled string beans. Capers! Yum.

One of the many counters in the SUB to grab a bite. This is my regular breakfast place when I find time on my hands most mornings. I occasionally wonder about the competence of some of their employees, but Bernoulli's usually delivers much needed sustenance that's tasty to boot. I usually take all the thinking out of the process by ordering whatever the breakfast special is. $4.10 for a bagel with cream cheese and a coffee (dark, because it is delicious) is not a bad deal. They also offer various bagel sandwiches I've never tried. It's definitely one of the better places to eat in the SUB.
