Possibly the holy grail of chocolate. I discovered Bernard's years ago when there was a location on Granville and 11th. My coworker and I would go there weekly to get our chocolate fix, so as you can imagine when a staff person incidentally told us it was closing, there was a gasp among the patrons. "But there isn't any notice", we all said in disbelief. For one brief moment I considered buying out my fave....the milk chocolate hazelnut bars. So my coworker and I made four more trips in the 2 weeks it would close.

I love all their individual bars. It comes in plain, hazelnut, almond, milk or dark chocolate; then there is plain and pistachio white chocolate. Why is Bernard the holy grail of chocolate? First of all every product is fresh and made with craftsmanship. They must keep the chocolate at optimum temperature because I have yet to see any of their products produce bloom (hazy film). Next time you buy a piece/bar of chocolate: take a look at it, I swear you can see the swirl of chocolate as if it was just poured and set in the molds and packaged. Then take a sniff, the cocoa aroma is warm and pleasing. Dissolve one in your mouth and you will understand a new definition for smooth. Bernard's quality control is bar none. I haven't purchased any product with stale ingredients.

And one year I gave the bag of semi-sweets to a friend to enjoy making hot chocolate...she ate the whole bag of chocolate drops.

*kneeling* and *bowing* at their master chocolatiers
