Great design. Friendly staff. Reasonable prices. I'd like one of everything in the store!

All I can say about this place is quirky, eccentric and unorthodox. The items sold at Bergo are beyond conventions. They walk the fine line between form and function. Well, mostly form is emphasized on their designs, but we find their items very solidly built and reliable. Some of the items are genuinely innovative and awe-inspiring in terms of modern designs.
What's sold at this store? Normally kitchen stuff, witty decorative pieces and accommodating items/furnitures that make good use of space. But some of the items are priced ridiculously high. Just walking around the store is a very fun experience. You can get design ideas from this store too! -

I stopped by Bergo today in hopes of doing some scouting out of possible Christmas gift ideas. It was disgustingly crowded and I bailed after about two minutes. Then it dawned on me. Two PM on a Saturday? No wonder the store was crawling with tourists! And on the American Thanksgiving long weekend to boot? Okay, I get it.
Normally, I really enjoy shopping here. Not that I ever buy too much, but I really like looking at everything. On a week night when the store is virtually empty, you can take your time viewing all the interesting designer swag. And the prices range; some things are insanely expensive while other things are very reasonable.
Having lived in the Distillery for a couple years, I watched stores come and go. I didn't get too attached to any of them. I feel differently about Bergo; I hope it stays because I continually enjoy browsing here. -

Maybe I'm jaded and getting older, but I just can't see myself spending $200 for a wine bottle holder that looks like abstract art, or salad tongs that look like two people kissing. However, walking in here is like going to the Museum of Industrial Design where you can buy things are fairly reasonable (for this kind of stuff) prices.
I used to love coming here and doing just that. Perusing, and making a mental note that one day, when I have lots of disposable money, I can buy things here. I used to enjoy doing just this, and daydreaming of the day - but now, no matter what I earn,I am way too practical and know that I will probably never justify something of the like. It doesn't have the same appeal anymore, and I just get upset.
That's where the extension of Bergo Designs comes in. Up the stairs is a funkier, younger, somehow more useful, yet completely useless items can be bought. Like a phone holder that looks like a hand, or the OCD cutting board, or funny ice cub trays. It's a great gift store - these are things that people would always want but would never buy for themselves, and for the most part, are useful too!
You'll also find Alessi and Bodum products here. (But there is a Bodum store in the Distillery - I compared the prices and it's a teeny bit cheaper over there, not by much)
In the back, are expensive but impressive looking, children's toys.
Like almost all the stores in the Distillery, walk in with no intention, and you won't be disappointed. -

There are no turning back after visiting Bergo Designs!
Love all the European designed kitchen wares that is so chic, a piece of art and yet so functional! Stainless Steel... oh yes.........
Some of the smaller items are quite affordable to get for your beloved as a nice gifts... or as wedding presents... I don't mind to be that beloved! :P
I hope my dog is not putting that designer doggie bowl $106 on his Christmas wish list! -

Truly inspiring, Bergo Designs does just what it says which is to offer a combination of Innovation, Creativity & Function into your living space. I would like to compare this to Kitchen Stuff Plus on Red Bull served with a unique Wine Glass.
Many designer Kitchen, Living space items available to browse and I do mean BROWSE as first of all although I love the innovation and creativity of such art pieces, I cannot justify re-financing my automobile.
Secondly, although many things are both functional and beautifully designed. There are some items that are solely for visual experience and silly which could be called FUN but you can find that same item at KSP or IQ Living anyways. Those same items I find cheapens this place slightly better suited for your typical franchise Kitchen store.
Even with some misses, I still enjoy this place because it gives me new inspiration and ideas at the same time it's Kitchenware which I love browsing anyways.Listed in: 4+ ****Stars****, Retirement Planning

So this is where Ikea shoppers go when they grow up... When you're ready to upgrade from your LACK tables or LJUSS SALBO lamps, this is the place to go.
My best friend is FINALLY moving out on her own and at 27 needs more grown up yet funky things for her new home. This was the perfect place for me to begin my hunt for a housewarming gift. With a great mix of kitsch and practicality I was sure to find something she'd love.
They have tons on kitchen ware items, random geekery and mirrors but their selection in clocks is probably the most impressive. Ranging from contemporary to WTF they are truly works of art and command attention... it's too bad they are tucked away in the far corner of the store... punished for being so freaking awesome!
Honestly there were so many whatcha-ma-call-its, do-hickies- and has-a -ma-does I didn't know where to start... which I guess is my only criticism of this place... there is a lot of STUFF and the the price tags are very high considering all the clutter. -

Bergo Designs occupies a large space within the distillery complex so it comes equipped with exposed brick, lots of wires showing and of course a little artistic flair.
its a home store but not like you would experience at home outfitters or the bay. though those places and ones like them, small and large, have very many things from which to choose, they do not have the unusual takes on the same objects.
for example one of the pictures i took was of these espresso machines. each machine was shaped like an upside down pyramid and the choices of colour are all bright and bold. youll find similar takes on espresso cups, vases, etc, a lot of which are made with ceramic and are also very colourful. i imagine those smaller items people might buy more often as little additions to their home gear, for a special dinner or something. i imagine that if your style is explosive with colour, then things like the espresso machine above would suit you well and youd have many more things to consider buying when you arrive because there are lots of them.
some things are not only cool in design and functional, but are, because of their durability, potentially more environmentally friendly. there are these place mats that i saw at the Art Gallery of Ontario as well, which were about 25 bucks each, made of some type of durable rubber and are purported to last longer. the designs are pretty cool though.
you can also find some jewellery and other items more geared towards design than function, so if you have the extra cash to spend it on a functional item that is coupled with more adventurous designs this is a fun place to get something neat. -

If you're a kitchen-ware fan like me, you'll absolutely adore Bergo. There are gadgets and gizmos a-plenty... and who's-its and what's-its galore. Great designs from kitchen-ware to piggy banks to random furniture.
I even dedicated a full suitcase for my purchases from Bergo. Good thing I packed lightly! I ended up purchasing a tin wallet, several piggy banks (custom made from Germany), a tea set, head scratcher, a bunch of magnetic photo holders and a bag. Excellent place for gifts and souvenirs.
4.5 stars for somewhat pricey items. Still... the price is worth it! -

This place is the coolest place ever! I was introduced to it by my boyfriend, who is into cool household gadget things. There's a ton of cool kitchen gadgets and furniture, very modern and one of a kind. They have these sundial watches, which although hard to read, are pretty nifty.
Great store to buy someone a gift or a wedding present because there's just so many cool little things.. Mind you, the prices are pretty hefty, but the stuff here are mostly all brand names and the quality fairly reliable! -

Absolutely love this place. Despite it being a bit out of the way from the subway line and the rest of downtown, I've found myself often making walking trips out here just to go to the store and browse around a bit. My two favourite parts of the store are the large section they've opened up to the left of the store which contains all sorts of fun, novelty-type items which are great for small gifts or conversation pieces, and their superb selection of unique watches. I've purchased two watches from here, and both never fail to draw attention and comments. Overall a great place to look around - you can easily spend 20 minutes browsing around.
