I don't let myself stop here nearly as often as I'd like (which is a lot because my bus stop is right out their door), but it's definitely my "treat yo'self" burger joint.
Because it's really, really, really good. Better than good. Fantastic.
Every time I stop in, I swear it's better. The food is even better, the staff is even friendlier and more helpful and more and more of my neighbors are their enjoying the great food and service.
Truly would recommend this place to anyone who wants the burger experience in a fun and funky setting, but the best part is still the food.1 Previous Review: Show all »

It sounds like Bent took some of the frustrations in earlier reviews to heart. Another reviewer commented that they should be using housemade veggie burgers vs. boring gardenburgers. I'm not sure if it was housemade, but it seemed like it. It had black beans throughout and was thick and flavorful and not machine-shaped. They advertise that their meat is "100% natural", whatever that means.
Yam fries were tasty. They have 13 different kinds of milkshake including pumpkin, green tea and other less common flavors.
Prices - around $6 for a normal burger / veggie burger (comes with fancy sauces if so inclined) or $7 for a fancy topping burger (I chose the human torch with hot peppers. It was indeed quite hot.) Shakes - $4. Fries - $4-5.
Cool, funky interior with a comic book / old school 50s diner theme. -

Not too bad...
My wife and I visited this joint by chance. We were thinking burgers and always passed this unassuming place near Seward Park. We were pleasantly surprised to find a sweet atmosphere and fun menu board. The menu board was a bit hard to navigate, but it all looked good.
What was refreshing about this place is that though it arose during the burger craze, it didn't fall victim to overly glorifying the burger experience where you feel like you are dining at some dimly lit, hipster spot. It's colorful, relaxing and....well...fun. The fries were a little less to be desired. And the surprise: they put giardinara on my wife's burger! First time we've seen that stuff in Seattle!
Overall, a fun stopover place - perhaps not a destination dining place. We'll go again soon. -
Review from Traci J.
When prompted by Yelp to finish my review, I thought "huh, where was that place?" It was that memorable. After a session at the Jefferson Park driving range, we tried to figure out a place to grab a bite down in Columbia City. Tuttabella? Pizzuto's? Opted for Pizzuto's, but alas, they were closed. Saw Bent Burger on the next block and remembered that a friend had checked in here previously. Seemed a little pricey for a burger and fries, and they were out of the sweet potato fries. Not anything super special and it seemed like since it was near closing time, they had prepped out several burgers and then just slapped them together. I don't think the cheese saw any time on the patty on the grill. People were friendly enough, but my Zippy's beats this place out. on the burger quality,

Review from Clover A.
I like this place, it's pretty fun.
The comic books on the walls, the staff and their 'just slightly irreverent' attitudes, the choices of food and the whole deal, it's all fun.
What the excel at is a good family meal, eaten in. The more stuff on your burger you like, the happier you'll be. Go ahead, add that egg.
This isn't fast food. It's food that is served at fast food restaurants but it's not that fast comparatively so don't get all testy waiting and the quality is much higher, so stop complaining it costs more. -

Best burger you can craft with ingredients from Food Services of America. Uninspired cafeteria hamburgers. It's a good place for Columbia City.

Recently Bent simplified the ordering process, which boosted my rating to five star. In short, you used to order your burger by saying what you didn't want on it - backwards from how we're used ot ordering. It's much easier now.
The fries are delicious and the chocolate shakes are sick. How much better does it get than a burger, fries and shake. Old school, baby.
I also am happy to see that the people they hire are reflective of the diversity in the surrounding neighborhood. I always feel welcome and the owners often converse with dinners in an authentic and friendly way. A great addition to the neighborhood. -
Review from Daren D.
This is a cool, comically nerdy place. I had the turkey burger, yam fries and a mike's hard lemonade. It was a nice combo, I thought, and I wish I had more space for munchies. The lady at the counter was friendly and composed. Comfy booth tables and this one ASL group was having a ball - that was funny and made me smile. The effort they spent on the chalk board menu is great and good background music.

They've improved, although they still don't have many non-beef options. We generally only do take-out and burgers tend to still be a bit soggy (bun) because of the amount of stuff they put on it. It would be nice to have a fresher feel, but the taste is good. I've asked for extra crispy, well-done fries several times and have yet to get them. But they are definitely getting better.

This business gets better every time we go there. The burgers are fantastic, with millions of options. I don't usually like turkey burgers, but there's were delicious and you can get any of their specialty burgers with a turkey patty (we got the Western with bacon, barbeque sauce, and frizzled onions). My spouse even liked it and she's a hardcore beef eater. They make your basic milkshake with real ice cream and lots of flavors- not too sweet, fruit flavors seem to have real fruit instead of flavoring. There's a fun outdoor patio with booths and tables for sunny days. The best part about the place is the service. Everyone who works there seems helpful and friendly even when they're slammed. They even brought out a slice of bacon for my dog!

Neat place hostess was extremely sweet!! The mushroom turkey burger, fries & onion rings..delish! The torch turkey burger style not so much, but that's my bad...now the hot wings are a little too pricey to not be a platter. But this will definitely be me & my guy's new spot && free wifi...couldn't be any closer to perfection :)

I just have to say that customer service is always number one for me. When people remember you even if you haven't gone into a place for several months.
Ive been going to bent burger for a year now.
My first experience was great...every single experience since then has been amazing.
I know they see many people on a daily basis, but they always seem to remember me when i come in and the owner always is asking me what ive been up to and how life is.
good job bent burger your doing great food, and you also make people feel good at the same time.
If i could give you six stars i would. -

Just discovered this place on our way to the lake. Super good burgers. Not greasy, not too huge, they will switch up what you want on it, they have a ton of special burgers. One of the best burgers I've found in Seattle. The milkshakes were yummy too, super thick. I now go out of my way to drive down here for a burger. The staff has always been friendly and on their game.
I don't understand some of these bad reviews, but then after shopping in the PCC across the street and witnessing some really shitty entitled whiny behavior from customers there- it all makes sense. -

After a long walk along seward park, my friend and I stopped at this cute neighboorhood joint for some tastey eats and drinks.
If you think this sleepy area admist the houses is sleepy inside... YOU ARE WRONG! This place is busy and with made-to-order food, it gets really busy!
Lots of burger options including turkey and chicken! $6 got me my freshly made turkey burger which does not include fries... I dont mind because its yumMEEEEE!
I'll be back, and I'll bring my friends!
*I hear they have breakfast too... it may be my next menu item! -
Review from Mike U.

Bent has a pretty expansive burger menu, and they could do a little better job explaining some of their less descriptive names- I have no idea what a "Superman" burger might entail just by the name.
Names aside, what they do well, is make a pretty tasty burger. My favorite is the "Human Torch" which is the most PERFECT spicy burger you can find, but even the regular cheeseburger is solid if you're not quite as adventurous. Shakes are good too, and props to them for actually adding a fair amount of extra peanut butter into my shake when I requested it.
What stops them from getting 5 stars? Well, things can end up a little pricey for a burger joint ($30 for a meal for two when we both drank water? That's pushing it), and not every burger is a home run (I'm looking at you, teriyaki burger!).
Still, I'm hoping they have some staying power for the neighborhood, and they definitely are in spitting range of other great burger joints in the area (Zippy's, Red Mill, etc.)
If you're in the area, definitely give 'em a try! -
Review from Eric W.
Renton, WA
I'm sorry to say the food quality has gone downhill. The last couple of times, I've thought it was an off day for the cooks. But guess not. I've had the Teriyaki burger the last couple of times, the first time it tasted good but not great. This last time, very disappointed. I'm rather picky about food and flavors. Some food combination just do not work. If it's a Teriyaki burger it should be simple, the pineapple and teriyaki sauce should be about it, tomatoes maybe. Shredded Iceberg lettuce dose not belong, for that matter it's just a cheap cop out for a decent leafy greens. Leaf lettuce would be much better choice if you were going to put it on a burger. Dill pickles don't compliment, pineapple or Teriyaki sauce!
But beyond that, the burger itself was just ordinary food, the bun and patty were just plain ordinary. Fries should come with the burger for the price you pay. Potatoes are an inexpensive food! Give people the impression that they're getting their monies worth.
3 of us had your burgers and soda fountain drinks and shared one large fries, which was not large. That tasted like old re-fried fries. It came to $31.00. Expensive for 3 frozen meat patties.
If you're going to be a Great Burger Joint that succeeds, you need to set yourself apart from the ordinary frozen hamburger patties and wonder bread buns. A great burger doesn't start with mediocre ingredients. The core of your product needs improvement. There are some great local artisan bakeries that supply buns. Find a local source for beef and brag about it!
I don't think you want to be remembered for old school cafeteria hamburgers!Comment from Daniel B. of Bent Burgers 9/15/2011

Great burgers, fries and shakes! They have sweet potatoes fries, regular fries, tots and onion rings. Lots of different topping available for your burger. They have local beers on tap (and they offer pitchers).
Such nice folks working here! Great place to take the kids for dinner. Can't wait to go when the weather is nice and sit on the little patio. -

What happened to the delicious french fries?
This place used to be a neighborhood treasure, but the last three times I've been (over the course of the summer) have seemed worse and worse. At first I attributed it to them having an off day, or me being picky, but I've realized this was basically denial on my part.
I really WANT to like this place because, apart from the cool superhero decor (complete with Superman mannequin!), it has the kind of Mom-n-pop feel that makes you feel good about supporting it. However, the quality of the food and service has really gone downhill and I really have no hope of it improving.
Instead of making generalizations, I'll state what was wrong with my last meal there:
The fries were horrible. I don't know if these were old fries that had been re-fried, or if the oil hadn't been changed in weeks, but the fries were a sickly, dark grease-yellow, and tasted stale.
The onion ring in my Western burger was also gross and blackened with yuck grease, and the lettuce in my burger had a rotten aftertaste!
The Coke I got from their soda fountain was off too - rounding off a completely unsatisfying experience - it was kind of flat and the syrup tasted off, like it was diet or something.
There are a number of contributing factors to the decline of Bent, such as the sauntering sweat-shop work conditions in there on a hot summer's day. It's unbearable to even sit inside for the duration of a meal! No WONDER the kids they have working there get irritable when customers ask for clarification on menu items!
Sorry Bent, it was nice knowing ya. -
Review from Alysia A.
If you were wondering what the fuck Jay and Silent Bob are doing these days I will tell you. They opened a burger joint called Bent Burgers.
The whole place is dude style, with comic books choking the place (even the bathroom walls were completely papered with them.) There were dude colors and dude names for the food. And, from what I saw in my short time there, it was an all dude staff.
I happen to love dudes, comics, and bacon burgers so it was basically my idea of heaven. The burgers are no joke delicious and the stacking of ingredients was smart and nothing fell apart. I also enjoyed one of the many dude employees tenderly telling me how good my tattoo looked and checking to make sure we were enjoying our meal.
To recap, if you like these things: DUDES BURGERS COMICS this is your joint. -
Review from Jens J.
This location has experienced a bit of turnover the past few years - from Diane's to Saffron, and now Bent Burgers. A hamburger joint does seems like a good fit for this tiny space, and maybe this will be the business that finally makes it here.
Superhero comic book theme!
I stopped here for a late afternoon bite, and with the young guy at the register I placed an order for a Western Burger, sans barbecue sauce and cheese. He stated that I really instead needed to order a bacon cheeseburger for what it was that I wanted. He changed my order accordingly. Fine, but just make sure the burger does not have cheese. ;-)
Of course, the burger came with cheese anyway. I chose just to scrape the cheese off rather than make a noise. The hamburger meat had that rather bitter flavor associated with flame-broiling, and that detracted from the burger's otherwise decent ingredients.
Tater tots and onion rings were available in addition to fries. Yay for tots!!
I don't believe I'm in Bent's target market. The music they play here is just not for me and probably was selected to cater to other locals. However, I didn't mind at all that at least three different staffers stopped by and asked, "Brother, how's your meal?" -

If you happen to live towards the Southern side of Seattle and want a tasty burger joint to visit, Bent Burgers is the place. I recommend ordering a specialty burger entitled, "The Thing" which includes bacon, blue cheese, a special sauce, among other delicious ingredients that come together so well that it's like nothing I've ever tasted.
Be sure to order a shake made w/ yummy fresh fruits and you're guaranteed to leave with a big smile on your face. I ordered a mango-strawberry shake and it was super yummies. -

It's Fat Tuesday and I'm writing a Yelp review about a burger joint - how fitting! :)
I love Bent Burgers! I had heard about this place from friends and finally checked it out last weekend. I love a good burger and now I don't to go all the way to North Seattle (I love Red Mill Burgers just as much) for an artery clogger of a burger.
The server Gabe was super helpful and advised me to get their most popular burger - the Western Burger. I initially contemplated their Bent Burger but ended up deciding against it because that thing was bigger than my headand I got scurrrrred. I think that was the biggest burger I've seen in a while. Adam from Man vs. Food should visit this place. :)
The Western Burger was juicy and flavorful yet surprising not too greasy. It comes with a big FAT onion ring and their signature BBQ sauce. Yummy.
Bent Burgers is a fun place to get your burger on. It's filled with DC Comics stuff and they even have a comic book and a trivia game at each table. It's also in a great location close to Seward Park and across the street from the PCC. I'm returning to Bent Burgers soon for their FAT Bent Burger! -

Freaking delicious humungous burgers served with a smile and a side of super heros. They are seriously hard to wrap your mouth around.
Onion rings are perfectly cooked deep fried crispy delights.
And the shakes are so think you can barely suck them up through the straw.
Eff your New Year's resolution. Go indulge in a bacon cheeseburger with caramelized onions topped with a fried egg. The gym will still be there tomorrow. -

Really nice staff and totally solid burgers and fries. A great neighborhood place for a quick meal, without having to eat gross fast food. You can sit on the patio in the summer, listen to live jazz and have a beer. Good onion rings, too! Great neighborhood addition!

Review from Will L.
There is a dark stairway that leads down from my warm kitchen to the chilly sub-level of my house. At the bottom of those stairs is a locked sliding door that leads into the garage.
Deep in the depths of my basement garage, tucked away on an old, dusty, metal shelf is a plastic sealed container.
Inside that container is a worn cardboard box. The sides are battered, the flaps torn and creased.
And in that box is a collection of comic books. Punisher limited edition. X-men. Light and Darkness War. The last book I purchased and placed in that box was an Alien Legion I found on sale, purchased out of nostalgia in my early 20s for a time in my early teens when comic books stimulated my imagination, kindled dreams of glorious superpowers, daring feats, beaten foes. And fueled inspiration for sharpening my drawing skills.
I haven't thought about those books in years. The last time I moved was the last time that box saw the light of day. I imagine my future children will discover that box, delight in the wonder of the old books.
And probably sell them on eBay to fund the latest video game platform, college tuition, or some such nonsense. Come on, I'm a realist.
Anyway, I think about that box of books every time I walk into Bent Burgers. See, the decor here consists of comic book covers pasted to the walls--mostly Wolverine and other classic Marvel books--but some D.C. covers grace the walls as well.
Cover-less books are available on the tables as well, delightful reading for an often solo diner like myself.
Bent Burgers harkens to a "soda fountain"--the type of place the characters of Grease, or Back To The Future, would hang out in. Burgers, fries, shakes and malts. Bright colors, big red leather seats, booths, and a counter. The young chefs calling out orders and hand delivering the food. The gals working the counter and register friendly and sassy.
The gang working here are a young, fun bunch. There's an energy and air of optimism at making a new venture work. I get the sense that this burger joint is a dream come true--someone's vision who has made it happen--IS MAKING it happen.
I love it. From the western burger to the bacon cheeseburger, the onion rings and tater tots, the chocolate malt or the soda fountain, the hand drawn chalk menu, the hand delivered service... This is s perfect new addition to a neighborhood in transition to young professionals and families. I've seen a lot of dads with kids in tow here, one eye on their giggling progeny, the other gazing wistfully at the walls covered in comic book covers.
I get the sense that my box full of books in the basement isn't the only one in my neighborhood. -

I am yet another deeply invested neighbor that has decided to post, not because I want you to fail, but because I really, really, want Bent Burgers to SUCCEED! In fact, I didn't even have a Yelp account prior to this post, but signed up just so that I can give you some feedback, and implore you to listen to your customers! Not only do I think the 22+ people who have previously posted are spot on in their feedback, but I have also spoken with a dozen or more neighbors in person who share similar feedback. We want Bent Burgers to succeed! The bottom line is you can choose to ignore this post and others. However, if you desire to be the premier gourmet burger place on the south end you either need to step up the offerings, or go the route as the cheap predictable burger joint, with lower prices.
Below is my Top 5 list of improvements that you can make. I will try Bent Burgers again in January. I will introduce myself. I hope to see improvements. Remember you are a stones throw away from PCC, I promise you that your core customer cares about the following.
1. Hamburger Buns - Columbia City Bakery is literally less than 5 minutes away. They will gladly make hamburger buns for you, and you will be supporting another family owned local business.
Columbia City Bakery
4865 Rainier Avenue South
Seattle, WA 98118
(206) 722-9138
http://columbiacitybak...
2. Beef - Local, natural, high quality beef is essential! There are several great local family owned ranches in our region that would be thrilled to provide Bent Burgers with high quality beef. Please consider checking out Corifini Gourmet, a wonderful foodservice provider. They carry Country Natural Beef, Painted Hills, Thundering Hooves.
Corifini Gourmet
1730 1st Avenue South
Seattle, WA 98134-1404
(206) 937-3141
http://corifnigourmet.com
3. Veggie Burgers - I understand that making a veggie burger in house can be time consuming, especially if the majority of items ordered are of the meat variety. However, a standard veggie burger from FSA or Sysco just doesn't cut it for most vegetarians. Field Roast is a wonderful local company that makes grain meats that taste amazing!
Field Roast Grain Meat Co.
1440 South Jackson St.
Seattle, WA 98144
(206) 762-5961
http://fieldroast.com
4. Beer - Second only to Portland, Seattle is the premier craft brewing city in the U.S. There are so many local options that I would hope you feature only Washington brewed beers. Here are a few suggestions:
Two Beers Brewing Co. - http://twobeersbrewery...
Fremont Brewing Co. - http://fremontbrewing.com
Pike Brewing Co. - http://pikebrewing.com
Elysian - http://elysianbrewing.com
Georgetown Brewing Co. - http://georgetownbeer.com
Boundary Bay Brewing Co. - http://bbaybrewery.com
Port Townsend Brewing Co. - http://porttownsendbre...
5. Fries - This is a simple but straightforward suggestion. Hand cut fries, period. -

One large piece of criticism, buy better buns for your expensive burgers. Maybe some artisan bread or something. Those puny buns make your delicious burgers slightly dissappointing. PLUS we orderred buffalo wings and got BBQ flavored teriyaki chicken instead. I'm thinking they ran out of the sauce. Get it together Bent burgers!

So they are still hovering at 2 stars for me. Went back again and got take out this time two burgers, fries and onion rings - the tasted ok but just ok.
Again my beef is how long it takes to get served. I called in and was told ten mins - it was closer to 25 mins by the time the order was put together but I noticed as I waited that some of my order was ready probably 5-6 mins before the rest... which explains why the fries were cool. The 3 stars is for the burgers.1 Previous Review: Show all »

My hamburger meat was pink.
I had to do my organic grocery shopping and on my way to PCC I noticed this restaurant as I drove by.
I walked in, I was greeted, and I read the menu on the wall. I ordered the cheeseburger and fries to go. I sat down at a table. As I waited I gazed around the restaurant and noticed comic book heroes on the walls and tables. Suddenly, I started to remember my last bad burger experience (Skillet). That prompted me to ask the employee if they cooked their meat to well done. The employee said, "Yes." Good answer.
Unfortunately, when I got home, I took a bite of the burger and the meat was pink. I was upset. Yet another bad burger experience. If only he could have told me the truth about how well they cooked the meat...
I do like that they are partnered with General Biodiesel though. -

Being a frequent visitor to this Lake WA area, it's too early and unfair to post reviews about Bent Burgers or any new business. I would love to see a restaurant succeed in this spot. The area has a great community and I believe the neighborhood surely wouldn't want another business in the same spot, fold.
I stopped by on the night before the grand opening. Out of curiosity, although it looked like a closed session, I was genuinely welcomed by the Bent family to come in for a test run. The decor was definitely unique with comic book covers and family member pictures on napkin dispensers. I liked the menu board because of the creativity and ease of reading. There is also an internet jukebox, a bar stool & counter top area, and genuinely has a "family feel" to the place.
My meal: A juicy Double Bacon Cheeseburger, Wings, and Strawberry Shake. (I eat hearty)
Wife's meal: A good looking Bacon Cheeseburger, Fries, and Diet Coke (I finished her burger)
The food was how it should be - simple & satisfying. If I wanted to eat a Red Mill Burger, I would go there. If I wanted to eat a Fatburger, I would go there. It's not fair to compare to them because they have established themselves. But because they are too far, a Bent Burger will definitely do the trick.
By meeting and talking with the owners and his family, I firmly believe that they will look at all the issues and will make any necessary changes to be successful.
In the meantime, it's good to write a comment letter for feedback to the owners, rather than post it on the internet. America is built on Small Businesses and I would love for this one to succeed! I will be back . -

Maybe it was because they'd only been open for a few weeks- but I'm not going back.
I will start from the smallest to the biggest problem.
We were told they were open until 10 PM
But the night we were there , they were turning people away at 6 PM because the computerized cash register wasn't working. They said it made it impossible to keep track of inventory, and peoples orders. (what happened to writing down orders and counting themselves?) BTW we tried to eat there the night before, at 7PM, but they were closed again.
Anyway, the place is packed and the poor girl trying to take orders , wasn't at all sure of how to do it. She was getting so flustered.
The owner or manager was yelling at her. (He was the only person working there not in his teens.)
We finally ordered and waited, waited and waited for 45 minutes!! For a BURGER!!!
We were STARVING!!! When asked why it was taking so long, we were told it was almost done. Then the kid went around the corner into the see thru kitchen and said something to the kids cooking.( an old saying comes to mind, too many cooks...) the kid brought us our sweet potato fries and a very short time later out came our burgers, tho not as we ordered ....no cheese, and on my friends it was a veggie burger, not chicken ,but we were STARVING!!
My burger was not done, still raw in the middle. A kid that came by to ask how things were said when I asked them to cook it more I was told, " we cant put it back on the grill since you took a bite out of it".
OK I can buy that. I waited for an offer of another burger, but what I got was'" if its really bad and you wont eat it, we can make another one"- But it will be awhile.
I don't know how much my face showed the shock and anger, but I was REALLY mad and did I mention STARVING?
So my plan ...stupid as it sounds...eat the burger, if I get sick I'm suing this place for SOOOoooo much money!!!
Fortunately for them I did not get sick....(and I was counting the $$$$)
But hey, the sweet potato fries were good. but most things are with that much salt !!
I hope it has improved, but they will not see my money there again!!! -

The fries need to be cooked more, ours were almost raw in the middle and you could taste it. Do something about your fires immediately. The burgers were good, although the meat was a little under done. With a couple changes, you'll have a winner!!! And the neighborhood would love you see you be successful.
Attention neighbors! Give them a shot and provide them with some honest feedback.
We'll be back. And hopefully up our stars. Totally rootin for you guys...
