Six months after my review I got a nasty message in my inbox here at yelp from Zhenya, F.
Your review is transparent and it's pretty clear to anyone reading it who has the poor attitude.
Let it go.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Review from Ruben R.

Great place for a great coffee and a great snack. They are very proud of their in house baked goods and sandwiches. Will be one of my routine stops from now on.

Full of cuteness and light.
Belmondo serves Moja coffee which is one of the best in BC., (and roasts right on the north shore). It's adorable inside, and there are tables in the sun outside. The counter service is friendly and informed and the light lunches including Panninis are very reasonably priced. I'll stop in when ever I'm in the neighbourhood (and for the Sweet Tooth gluten free bakery next door!) If one of you are regular eaters and the other is gluten free, it's a perfect pairing. There is also a quilting and sewing shop right next door. -

This family-run cafe is just off the beaten track in North Vancouver. They serve great coffee, plus fresh made paninis and homemade soups for lunch. There is also a wonderful selection of baked goods - cookies, banana bread, brownies, and more - and everything is made fresh, on-site, every day. I don't know how they do it, but everything I've tried has been excellent.
Service is friendly, if not the fastest, as staff often love to chat with customers. The cafe is spacious and clean, and some tables have nice leather seats to relax in with your coffee. There are a few outside tables as well for those sunny days.
It's just a nice place to hang out with coffee and music and newspaper, and also a good place to hit for snacks - fuel for hiking and bike riding on the trails nearby on Mt Seymour and in Lynn Valley.Listed in: North Shore Eats, Ladytime

Review from Zhenya F.
Vancouver, BC
I am rating this business based solely on the customer service which is sub-par to say the least, which is sad because it was the owner herself that I had an unpleasant interaction with.
I have been buying coffee (and sometimes lunch) there every day for the past 3 months. Today, my friend bought coffee in the near by Tims and we proceeded to walk towards Belmondo because I was going to get a coffee there. We sat outside on their patio and I went in a pretty good mood to get a cup of coffee. When i approached the till and ordered coffee, the owner right away asked me why we came here with Tim Horton's coffee.
Before I could say anything the owner told me that she pays "a lot of rent for this place". While I understand that, I would assume that since I am an every-day customer (and so is my friend), it would be OK to use their empty patio one time when only one of us buys the coffee. I genuinely didn't think they would mind.
I was wrong. I work 2 blocks away and despite the fact that they are the only decent coffee shop around here, I would never go back. I told the owner that I am an everyday customer and in fact I was going to buy a cup of coffee, but from now on I will never visit her shop. She didn't even apologize. While i understand that the small businesses struggle to survive showing a little appreciation and basic customer service goes a long way. It's not what she said - it's how she said it.
Getting a bunch of attitude trying to buy a cup of coffee is not my idea of relaxing lunch. I am waiting for Starbucks to open nearby and will gladly give them my business.
EDITED to add:
I noticed few people have decided to mention my review inside theirs and thought I would clarify few things
- I was NOT eating lunch from any other place while buying a coffee there that day - I was just buying a coffee. I did NOT have Tims lunch and I did NOT have Tims coffee.
- I was a regular patron buying coffee + pastry there every day and lunch 2 or 3 times a week.
- I wasn't there with a group of friends having lunch from Tims. I was there with one friend who had a coffee from Tims (and you never walked into a Starbucks with a friend who wants to buy coffee there with the coffee you just bought from somewhere? really? lighten up)
