Review from Laura P.
Francophiles, be warned. This boutique is an utter explosion of Parisian inspired home decor and accessories to love.
Walk inside to high ceilings and low-set chandeliers garnished with crystals and brass trim. The store is a massive collection of decor for all rooms in the home, and fixtures both big and small. Tables and chairs, place settings, dishes, wine holders, umbrella bins, candelabras, lamps, bath salts, soaps-- the list doesn't end. The store's vast collection of material goods is unified under a gorgeous Baroque inspired esthetic.
The store is well laid out; however, it seems impossible to take it all in during one visit. There is an overwhelming abundance of things to look at, but an obvious eye for detail and decadence. Affiliated with Abby's Fabric Shop, the store also contains plentiful fabric spools to allude luxury.
Bellissimo is rich and a gorgeous spot to explore. Prices are heavy, so I will continue to daydream for now. But with the fantasy selection of pretty things, I shall encourage my Parisian cliché with visits to Bellissimo Boutique. -
Review from Ben B.
Once upon a whim, I decided that I would become an expert antiquer for absolutely no reason. I was about 20 at the time, living in my first apartment. That is, I had no business thinking about imported European antique and recovered furniture but still, I took it as an opportunity to check out Bellissimo in their old downtown location.
In the six years since then, I've been back a few times to check out their new digs on Agricola and to lust after the incredible selection of gorgeous things that I'm still nowhere near being able to afford. But hey -toss a hot drink in my hand and I'm more than up for spending an hour pretending to be rich and worldly at Bellissimo, particularly because I've never been made to feel out of place or beneath their standards. Kudos for letting me dream!
While I tend to gravitate toward some of the awe-inspiring pieces brought in from Asia (costing many a thousand dollars), there are some legitimate things within my budget that, like other people mentioned, make for incredible gifts. To avoid disappointment though, try thinking of Bellissimo like an art gallery or museum -it'll set much better expectations for your visit! -

What a charming find! Whether you are decorating your own place or hunting for a unique house warming gift for someone, Bellissimo is the place to visit.
Situated on Agricola in the middle of interior designers, antique dealers and architects and specialty lighting experts, it certainly is the crowning jewel.
No matter what you're looking for from European antiques, fabrics for draperies and furniture, rugs, candles and every other kind of decorating accessories to make your house/apartment/condo truly - HOME.
It's the perfect place to shop for house warming gifts and even smaller "Hostess" gifts - the ones that say you actually put time and thought into it. ...not just another bottle of wine or bunch of flowers. Everything from handcrafted candles and soaps to picture frames and other unique one of a kind items to be treasured. -

Bellissimo houses a melange of goods, a large scale unification of wares, from home decor to soaps to full on furniture. I ventured into this shop just moments ago, blasted with perfumes ranging from floral to spicy upon entry.
They sell an array of soaps and body products, as well as house cleaning agents. The MOR emporium soaps were $18 for a bar, while the MOR candles were $40 (ouch). They smelled fine, a little overwhelming for my mild tastes, but suitable for some no doubt.
I enjoyed perusing their paper products made by Wooster & Prince. I poked through journals with vintage covers, looked at wrapping papers as well as stationary.
They also have a huge selection of textiles, which one could use for recovering a treasured piece of furniture. As well, there were beds and couches - this place had a touch of everything!
One bizarre find was an "art" line called Pheromone, which featured framed dried butterflies and large insects. I know they're beautiful to look at, but somehow it strikes me as slightly morbid... maybe a reflection of my sympathetic nature toward using dead things as decor.
Bellissimo is an eclectic store carrying wares suitable for wrapping up and giving as gifts. It's not necessarily my cup of tea, but I see the appeal.
