Apparently whey you buy an iPhone at a Bell store with an extended warranty, your first year is actually covered by Apple (and thank GOD!)
I have been having issues with my iPhone... essentially it won't charge and when I connect it to my computer iTunes won't recognize it. I went to Bell to see what they could do for me since I had purchased a pretty extensive $100 three year warranty with them.
The guy I spoke to didn't seem to be listening to me when I explained the issue. I told him phone phone wouldn't charge but everything else with the phone was working fine. "can you get online?", "can you make phone calls?", "Can you send emails?" "Oh so it's working fine... what's the problem?" ...
After I re-explained it to him he told me the prongs in my phone (where the charger goes) were mangled. He then told me that this would not be covered by my warranty and added that iPhones are very fragile.
I was stunned and explained that I've only had the phone for 4 months and this was certainly not normal. He said I could try speaking to Apple but that they probably would not fix it under warranty and I would have to pay to fix it.
This put me in a foul mood (as I found out later for nothing). It's one thing to tell me you don't know if it will be covered, but why is Bell discouraging its customers to get their phone fixed? The last thing I needed to hear from this guy was good luck...
Side note: Apple was wonderful so I am glad I went to see them...it's going to suck when my year is up with them :-(
