I highly suggest trying the food.
I've read quite a few of negative comments on Bean Brothers Beverages, but personally I've never really had a problem. (Then again the only thing I order is Chai latte and I gotta say, Waves is better)
In terms of food, I think for a coffee shop is really good and comes at a reasonable price. The food has that homey kind of feel to it and hits the spot for me. I personally love ordering either the butter chicken, Shepard's pie or borscht soup. The butter chicken may not be completely authentic, but it still tastes great. The place is clean and good for studying. Although there is no internet, so just a heads up. -

Bright, bustling, warm and energetic place.
Very nicely organised. Friendly staff. Coffee is delicious. -

This cafe is so warm and inviting, and it is perfect for when you need a caffeine fix and food. And by food I mean more than just a pastry, as per your typical coffee place.
Here my boyfriend and I had some sandwiches, chai lattle, and a mocha. The food and drinks were good. Nothing spectacular, but both very nice, and I would definitely come again. And next time try some of the pizzas! They just sounded so delicious! -

It was hot today, I had to kill some time, and I thought I might as well try Bean Brothers instead of falling back to Starbucks for my iced coffee fix.
I walked in, looked at their menu board and couldn't find anything cold that wasn't a 16 oz of frappe. I was hot and tired and resorted to asking for help:
Me: Hi, I'm looking for something cold...
CSR: What kind of drink are you looking for?
Me: Something with coffee and ice?
CSR: We only have frappes.
Me: ...no iced coffee?
CSR: No.
Me: ...but they're so large, nothing smaller?
CSR: No.
Me: kthnxbai.
Irked, I walked out and ended up 2 doors down at Starbucks.
Tonight, when I followed the company's website link from yelp, and read through their coffee menu (cuz I was really amazed that they didn't have iced coffees), I find out they do.
I have no words. None. -

Yes it's a coffee shop, but I don't come here for that, I come for the sandwiches and wood-stone oven pizza. Their sandwiches always use fresh, soft breads and the portions are just right. My favourite sandwiches are the Grilled Italian meats on foccacia and Westcoast on Multi-grain. The fats are gently squeezed out of the salami and pepperoni as it gets grilled for a moment, the mozzarella cheese is desperately holding the damn thing together. Your first bite is filled with the mixture of hot meat and cheese fusing in your mouth while the tomato cuts in with a bit of a refreshing texture. If a heavier sandwich is favoured, this is my recommendation.
The Westcoast is the opposite, refreshing and lighter fare. Ripe advocados and sprouts lay about the shrimp salad...I actually prefer to eat this open faced. I'm drooling already...the perfect spring/summer sammy!
The pizza my wife loves to order is the Chicken Tandoori, a little more exotic than your standard NY or Chicago topping. It's not super spicy, in case you are afraid of the heat, but it offers a nice light tinge to the tongue. Not super heavy on the cheese either, so it doesn't feel too heavy either, which is important when ever you put chicken and spinach together on a pizza, IMO.Listed in: Caffeinated bliss

Meh. I remembered Bean Brothers being a lot more interesting and entertaining than they were when I was in there last. I got a chili, which wasn't great. It was microwaved before being served to me and I'm not sure they stirred it or anything because it had cold patches.
My coffee wasn't great, everything seemed really over pre-prepared. I understand the need to have stuff ready but everything had a bit of a sheen to it.
Anyway, not super impressed. I will try again because I remember loving it so much but this time not so much. -

For the past 15 years, three or four times a month, I go to Bean Brothers for their excellent Morning Glory muffins. I go early (6:00AM) and take the muffins home for my breakfast.
In 15 years there have been at least two ownership changes, and many dozens of employees have come and gone, but one very puzzling thing has remained absolutely constant: the cashiers NEVER say "thank you".
Let me qualify that. In 15 years I might have had 2 or 3 "thank you's". The rest of the time it's "here you go", or nothing at all. I've even tried saying "your welcome", but this just elicits a blank stare.
Down the street at Starbucks, a cheerful "thank you" is ... and always has been ... part of what you expect. Maybe I'm old fashioned but I think "thank you" should be standard in any "service" establishment.
That's my main -- and only -- gripe about Bean Brothers. -

Bean Bros is a great coffee shop/ restaurant to indulge on pastries. Personally I love their jumbo sized wheatgerm muffins (sounds healthy but they taste divinely anything but) and blueberry Cinnamon bun. Their coffee is pretty good but not yet on the same level as Artiggiano's.
They have a good seating capacity but frequently packed with students and families. The atmosphere feels homey and laid back; a place great to enjoy leisurely afternoons browsing the paper or people watching.Listed in: Breads and co.

Came for soup/sandwiches (corn chowder and tuna melt) and lattes after a hard day of shopping. Great vibe! Menu and food hit the spot. Will be back!

This place just keeps getting better!
Went in for another latté and I'm glad to say that they are maintaining their level of consistency. Even the owner was helping out at the counter and he seemed to be in a better mood.
The place was packed and no one had to wait long for their drinks. It was a well-oiled machine.
With the long hours and good drinks, this could soon become one of my favorite cafe.2 Previous Reviews: Show all »

Mmm... coffee: The drink almost all adults and near-adults enjoy (and, many times, NEED). Vancouver is the right place to enjoy it. Nowhere else in Canada can you find as many places to enjoy "the best coffee" around.
When I attended high school in Kerrisdale, this was my hangout: A combination coffee bar, take-out restaurant, and pizza place. The friendliest baristas in town work here, and the works of local artists are often displayed on the walls (usually for sale!).Listed in: Coffee Crazy

My experiences at bean brothers is limited to their coffee and eggs benedict. Their coffeee is alright but I usually have my 49th parallel before I go for my eggs benny which is pretty good although it's really the hollandaise sauce is very nice. (I discovered is from a wholesaler, not home made, if I can buy that sauce I'm set!)

I was in Kerrisdale and had a hankering for a coffee so I headed to Starbucks ..but decided before entering that I wanted a change. I looked down the street to my left and say Bean Brother's..never been..so away I went.
Upon entering I looked over the showcase with all the yummy looking treats and made my pick..pumpkin loaf..and went to get in line..now...this is where it all goes down hill...so..there are 3 people in front of me and 2 behind..the lady behind me was standing so close to me I actually stepped on her. Then a couple more people came in and decided to form another line and cut in-front off us...the staff didn't even say a word..then..it seem that the close stander behind was a regular and is recognized by the staff and offered help..before me..like all 6'4 of me wasn't even there..I mean come ON...so FINALLY they decide it's ok to offer me some service..but by this time all the other patrons have snapped up all the pumpkin loaf..ok..now I'm pissed...fine..."give me the banana loaf and a medium mild"..to which I get .."oh..sorry sir but we are out of mild...dark ok"?....*grimace..."whatever..just put some sort of caffeinated beverage in a cup and give it to me"..I did snap..it was out of line..but I was pushed people!
Perhaps it was just a one off bad experience as the place seemed popular but needless to say I won't be back at Bean Brothers..Listed in: Just Skip It

Bean Bros caught my eye when I was across the street. A big banner hangs out front that proclaims that they don't have wifi, but they do have good coffee. When we got to Bean Bros, there was a woman out front offering hot chocolate samples. We took some and wandered inside. The place was packed and had almost a cafeteria feel with one counter in the back serving up food and the counter in front serving coffee beverages. When I tasted the hot chocolate, I decided against ordering any as it was really syrupy thick. I actually tossed most of it. I might check them out again for breakfast, pizza, or sandwiches some other time.
