Splendid beauty, from the manicured landscaping up top heading down the cliffs ending at the driftwood-covered beaches along the Strait of Juan De Fuca.
Judging by the flora in huge Beacon Hill Park, it seemed to me that VIctoria is at least a little bit in the Olympic rain shadow. I later confirmed that it does rain less here in Victoria, 33" a year, compared to wetter Portland and Seattle - both cities racking up 37" a year. OK, since I am on the topic, Vancouver B.C. gets 44" annually.
A great jogging or walking route is going around Ogden Point along the water and then up through Beacon Hill Park.
For those of you with canine companions, there are no-leash paths in this park. -

Beacon Hill Park was really beautiful. I was able to walk down from my hotel within a few minutes. I loved the gardens, bridges, the little ponds. I know there was a lookout point for the ocean but I didn't make it that far. I just kept looking at all the flowers, plants and trees. A nice park that I'll definitely go back to the next time I'm in Victoria.
