Price is what attracted me to this little oasis. At $88 a night this is one of the cheapest hotels in the city. Compared to other hotels of similar price...this one is a haven.
1) It's clean. Everything is in working order. Stuff is a bit ugly, but I prefer to think of it as delightfully retro.
2) The staff are friendly. I've stayed at high end hotels where the staff terrified me. The sweet lady running the front desk feels like a friend already and was very helpful in my quest to find some hot spots downtown.
3) A street car ready to take me down town is right out side my doorway.
4) I just woke up at 5am, completely refreshed, and watched the run rise.
I could try to make up some points of complaint but I honestly don't mind that I can hear the busy street outside, or that half the rooms are smoking or even that my shower head doesn't adjust. I'm just excited to be somewhere clean, homey and that I can afford.
