You don't know it's there. And for all we know, it won't be there for much longer. It was once attached to an IGA which has been demoed over, leaving nothing but a muddy parking lot in the wake of a new condo development. Yet, for whatever reason, I find myself near it on all of the major drinking holidays: Christmas Eve, New Years Eve... St Patty's Day. Any given Saturday night.

I've been coming here for years and years and years. At times it was as a promo rep, pouring beers for Saturday afternoon customers, at others, it was just to pick up a 12 pack of beer for a party. Call it fate, call in convenience.... for whatever it's called, this Liquor Store has seen more action from my credit card than all of the others combined.

In it's glory days, you could see it from the street. There was ample parking and a line up out the door on all of those major holidays. But now, it's just a decrepit, little store, with a meager parking lot, no street presence and a small selection, compared to the specialty stores. But dang, if it ain't convenient for that 12 pack and a bottle of cheap wine. It's almost like a little secret - under performing on major holidays and letting the last minute entertainers like me sneak in and out, without a line, and in time to get home to make supper.

Actually, funny story. A long time ago, in that parking lot that is now covered in condo construction, I interviewed to be a Community Manager with a local biz review website. Maybe you've heard of it, it's called Yelp ;p And for that, I christen you my 900th review.

For those who aren't familiar with this location, this Liquor Store was part of several businesses including an IGA, with a huge parking lot.  Now the entire parking lot has been torn up and replaced with a condo tower, the IGA is completely bulldozed, and, well, this store now looks totally out of place.  It's literally a building in the middle on a construction zone.

Fortunately the contractors had the brains or courtesy to leave a nice little parking lot on the side of the store.

The inside has most things that you'd be looking for, though of course the place isn't the largest.

The security guard inside is amusingly efficient. Or lazy, depending on how you look at it.  There are angled mirrors (and a couple of concave ones) along the back wall, and she just stood in 1 aisle and watched all of the other ones using those mirrors.  My friend and I had a good laugh.

I was waiting inline trying to pay for my beer. The female cashier was being really friendly to the caucasian customer who is paying for his purchase. However, when it is my turn, she became extremely rude. She not only didn't say hi, she tossed me my change and shoved my beer to the side like I'm infected with some infectious disease and she doesn't want to be infected. I was deeply offended. I will never go to this liquor store ever again.

Conveniently located beside IGA and its giant parking lot, this is my liquor store of choice.  The staff are cool, will shoot you a smile and a joke.  My beef is that I can never get any cold beer here, and it took me a couple visits to realize they put they more expensive wines and booze closer to the front of the shop so don't think you're going nuts when everything seems outrageously priced like I did.
