For all the government liquor stores in the Greater Vancouver Area, this is the king of them all. When anyone talks about where to get the best selection and price for liquor, everyone who lives in the city knows that this one is the massive-grand store that rules all. The size of this location is like a Safeway supermarket (I think that this might actually have been one back in the day). You walk into high ceilings, and a selection that is vast.

For the wine lover in you, this one has it all, the countries, the regular stuff, and the real high end stuff to suit your fancy. As for all the other types of alcoholic beverages, they probably have that too. This place also operates like a busy supermarket on a daily basis. During the Christmas season, while watching across the street, I saw so much traffic come in and out of the parking lot, that amazed me. I also lined up for a good 10 minutes at one point, to pay for my bottle of wine, and all the tills (I think 8 rows across) were all open. This place is the place of choice.

Occasionally they have some samplers of new products, and this is one of those government liquor stores, outside of the downtown core, that opens till 11 PM from Monday to Saturday.

I'm sure everyone in the local population has heard of this liquor store.  Although the location is not the most convenient personally, several things make this particular outlet stick out.

    - large large floor space.
    - wide selection of booze (not that it matters to me as I only look at certain parts), for the wine connoisseurs out there.
    - tastings!  Yes, if you show up on certain days, you get to stuff your face on appies while drinking on the government's tab.  Might as well get some return on your tax dollars.

Parking is generally decent, but if you go during peak hours (such as a Friday night) it's a war zone.  There is parking available on BOTH sides of the store.

OK...so this is like the 4th liquor store that I have reviewed..It might not be long before I'm righting a review on Promises Rehabilitation Center..but in the meantime... I just couldn't resist sharing this location with the masses..

The Cambie Liquor store is HUGE..it's like a shopping mall dedicated solely to booze..It's so big it has a customer service desk in the middle of the store!! I get so over whelmed every time I go here I just buy stupid amount of alcohol... I just can' t help myself...

They have an incredible wine selection..any region of the world you could imagine..but it's way more affordable then the "wine specialty" shops around town. The staff is very friendly and super knowledgeable on the products. I had a gentlemen telling me more things about beer them I cared to ever know..yet I was fascinated!

They also have various functions in store for wine tasting and pairing, cocktail idea parties and much more!!

Next time you are in the mood to stock up your liquor cabinet, I highly recommend this be your destination!

The best government wine store in town, oh they have liquor also.

Don't go in to get one bottle, you may leave with a half case ;)

Great parking, but that's our government dollars at work.

The beauty of wines in the $50+ range is the BS fees are absorbed and don't make any difference and they have lots of wine in the $50+ level. They also have many if not all the major listed wine so when you are going for a bottle you won't be walking out with something else, that is the beauty of this big store the other is sometimes the selection is a little uninspired, but that the other side of a large government monopoly compared to an independent wine shop.

Besides where else can you be 6 inches from a $25,000 bottle of cognac, without a rich friend (they won't let you drink it either)?? I think someone broke in a stole it though, they got closer than 6 inches.

What imdb is to movies, this liquor store is to booze. It's an encyclopedia of wine, beer, spirits. The show home of alcohol. I could go on.

The only failing I've found with the Cambie Street store is in trying to track down some Mexican wine. The best they could do for me would be to put in a request to the Ontatio liquor board and if they had some, I could buy a case. But I haven't been able to find Mexican wine anywhere else in Vancouver either.

The selection of dark beers here is the best in the city. I can drink my dinner with any number of stouts.

When you go, this is the best occasion to start shopping with a list. Impulse purchases here will add us very quickly!

This location is a Flagship liquor store. What the heck is that, you ask? It's the bomb!!! It's an absolutely massive location with so much selection. The other huge benefit of this location is that they host events here.

I decided to check out a wine tasting and evening with some Okanagan winemakers. The tickets were $20 - but turned out to be worth every penny. For starters, it was hosted in a special tasting room/kitchen that they have in the back of the store. We were given seven different wines and each table had a massive platter of cheese, crackers and fruit. At the end of the evening, the staff got us paper plates and almost insisted that we all take the leftover cheese home! I swear we got our money back in cheese, which is totally cool with me.

In addition to the great value, the evening was well carried out and informative. The winemakers that attended were really open to sharing their secrets with us and answering any questions. The liquor store staff that hosted the night were also very knowledgeable about wines and food pairings.

I would recommend checking out this location for shopping and scoop up one of their events calendars. I hope when the new SkyTrain starts running there's a stop right outside this location!

This place is mecca. Well, an alcohol mecca (sorry, don't mean to be sacrilegious). Anyway, this particular branch stocks everything your heart could possibly ever desire (and that your liver would murder you for consuming).

This is considered to be one of their signature stores so the people staffed here are exceptionally knowledgeable and can actually answer questions you may have! They were very familiar with the merchandise so when I came here once on a search for a special kind of aperitif, the salesperson was able to direct me to it straight away.

The amount of alcohol held here is amazing. Row after row of bottles. The different kinds of vodka, rum, brandy.. I had no idea.

Anyway, as previously mentioned, this is a good place to stock your bar when it is in need of re-filing.

This place is AMAZING... if a liquor store can be amazing?  they have anything and everything you could possibly need.  when I was in there today I caught the tail end of a wine and cheese thingy, swooped in, had a glass, guffawed with a few of the attendees and then went back about my business .....shopping around.  I found exactly what I needed right away, but discovered they have customer service rep in a kiosk located in the centre of the store..... unheard of I know.  Once I found the muscati I was looking for I thought I would take a quick peruse through the "wine cellar" it's called and discovered that you can actually buy a bottle of wine for $3400 smackers.....  I hope angels have cried into the bottle for that kinda price.
