Well, well, well...the time has finally arrived.

My 100th review on Yelp and I'm so glad it's a write up for BBQ Bob's in Whistler, Canada.

As we drove into British Columbia, there was a huge sign that read "The best place on earth".  As a proud American, I was appalled of their arrogance. How dare they?!

Three of my close friends and I travelled from Honolulu, Hawaii to snowboard at the world renowned Whistler Blackcomb mountains.  We were so blessed to have fresh powder every day and a small amount of people to share the mountain with.
So far so good, nowhere in the US had a similar snowboarding facility like Whistler.

But what do you do when you burned a billion calories from tumbling, crashing and screaming down the mountains when you lose control of your snowboard?
You seek out "grind" as they call it here Hawaii.  One of my friends been to Whistler the year before and knew of this terrific BBQ restaurant right by our hotel.  He recommended we go there for dinner and there were definitely no arguments.
He was talking about a BBQ dinner at 23F, heck yeah that sounded good!

We drove down Lake Placid road and completely missed it because it was dark outside and it's pretty hard to see when snow is covering everything around you.  When we did find it, I noticed the entrance way said Roland's Creekside Pub, nowhere did it say anything about BBQ.  However when you walk in you'll noticed there are actually three establishment inside.
To your quick left is a small liquor store, as you walked further in Roland's Creekside Pub was on your left and man it was rowdy that night.  Those Canadians loved their hockey and it was so cool to feel their enthusiasm.
On the right side was BBQ Bob's.  There wasn't any customers inside because it was pretty late at night and most of the patrons were over at Roland's Pub enjoying and cheering for their teams. Mo bettah for us, we had the place all to ourselves.

The very first thing you did notice was walls of ribbons and trophies of bragging rights for this establishment.  It was quite a sight and man it was impressive.

It also happened to be St. Patrick's Day that night. I've completely lost track of my days and forgotten one of my favorite holidays is here again. I'm sure it's because I hit my head so many times tumbling down Blackcomb.
One of the first things I've noticed about Canadians are how extremely friendly they were and coming from the aloha state it was sure nice to feel their aloha.  Eh!
Our bubbly and friendly waitress quickly came over and offer us their menu and filled our glasses with Guinness, God bless her Canadian heart.
Hmm, is this country really better than the US?

We ordered the low & slow BBQ pulled pork sandwich, their delicious brisket and of course a rack of ribs and some good ole BBQ chicken.
Everything came out fast, hot and holy moly tasty!  We did notice the ribs didn't fall the bones like we're used to in the States.  Our waitress explained to us, competition ribs aren't made that way and usually fall off the bones when it's cooked way too long and it become mushy.
It didn't matter to us, the huge portions of food on the table was gone in seconds! Everything was divine!
Damn, those were some good ribs and that tender roasted chicken is a must try!

We weren't done...ok I wasn't done.  I didn't travelled 3000 miles (4800km) to Whistler and not have any chicken wings.  I thought dinner was awesome, but when the wings came out I knew I've died and gone to heaven...or gone to Canada.
The wings had a slight crunch to it and when my tongue tasted their homemade BBQ sauce, it was over for me.
    http://www.yelp.com/bi...
This stuff should be illegal!  How the heck did those Canadians make a BBQ sauce that tasted that good!? I still recall after we finished off the wings, one of my friends was using her finger to dig up any sauce left on the plate.  Yes, it was that good!  God, I'm salivating as I'm writing this and can't wait to go back and dig my chops into anything that comes out of BBQ Bob's kitchen.

After dining at BBQ Bob's, I realized something.
Canada was the best place on Earth.  What an amazing country.

Thank you BBQ Bob's, I'm sure I'm be deported after this post.

Instead of trying to find expensive BBQ in the Whistler Village, we ventured south a few minutes to try to find something more budget friendly.

+ BALSAMIC REDUCTION FRIES WERE AMAZING!
    + BBQ sauce was good
+ A Rib & Chicken breast combo was enough to split and get full on for two people.

~ Coleslaw was ok, nothing great.
~ On the side of a pub, and not as it's own restaurant.

    - The ribs were definitely few in number.

Bring your appetite and order the BBQ platter. Slaw, corn bread muffins, potato salad and baked beans along with ribs, brisket, quarter chicken and the best damn pulled pork ever!
Excellent service as usual, this is the place I recommend to visitors and love myself, Dusty's is good but Bob's is great!

Was hoping to find some great BBQ in Whistler, but the search continues.  Ordered carry-out of the Sixty Nine platter to sample everything.  Portion was massive, way more than two people could eat.  Flavors were decent, but the cooking execution needs work.  Ribs were just ok: thin, not very tender, and didn't come off bones easily.  Brisket really, really needed to be cooked longer: way too tough.  Chicken breast was a bit dry.  Pulled pork was fine.  The platter also came with dessert.  We chose the brownie, which came ala mode but was packed in the same bag as all the hot food, so by the time we got back to the condo, the ice cream was just cream.

This locals-friendly spot is in Creekside. We had lunch here since we took the day off from skiing, it was raining and we were staying at Nita Lake Lodge next door, and overall, the food was fine but not great. We ordered the "Sixty Nine" platter for two, which let us sample the pulled pork, brisket, ribs and chicken, plus 4 sides, a cornbread muffin, and a dessert (alas fries are extra). The ribs and chicken were far better than the pork and brisket (both of which needed to be cooked longer -  they weren't very tender).

Bob's is linked to the bar next door, which means you have access to their full bar and if you want, you can eat there for brunch and order anything from Bob's. Not a bad set-up, especially since they make a mean "Bloody Sunday."

OMG Bob's BBQ is incredible!  We went post workout from Crossfit Whistler which is across the street and filled our boots with meat, meat, and more meat.  the pulled pork, BBQ chicken and yam fries are to die for!  If you are looking for Paleo friendly options, this place is it.

And not to forget, but our girls loved the kids menu options too.  They filled their little boots with pulled pork sandwich and Cesar salad.  Big thumbs up from my wee ones.

After reading the reviews on Yelp I was hoping that there was finally a decent BBQ place to eat at. My hopes were high and my taste buds were ready for something amazing. But instead my taste buds were let down especially by the ribs.

The ribs were hard and chewy. The meat didn't fall off the bone it just stuck on like gum to the underside of a table. The taste of the seasoning was good. Probably the only thing that made the ribs worth eating.

The chicken was a little better. More moisture in the meat compared to the ribs made it a better choice. The sides were probably the better part of the meal. The fries were cooked well, the beans were flavourful, and the coleslaw was my favourite.

So maybe stick to the beef brisket sandwich which is mentioned in a few other reviews. I certainly can't recommend the ribs. Also if you walk in to order there is more on the blue paper menu then there is up on the sign boards.

I would give the meat 2 stars and the sides 4 stars.

Heard alot about BBQ Bob's so we ordered the Angus burger and ribs. Burger was tiny and not great. Ribs didn't stand up to the reputation.
Ordered a salad with the dinner. Forgot to send it. Re-sent it 45 minutes later! Terrible service and no accountability. Offerred nothing for the mixup. I would not recommend this establishment. R

I'm basically a BBQ snob and never expect much when traveling, especially from places tucked away in ski villages.  I played it safe and went for the Jerk Chicken sandwich which was decent, but the meat didn't seem to be marinated at all and had hardly any jerk flavor at all.  The giardiniera was just the right amount of spicy and the chicken was cooked well.  A friend liked the pulled pork but it didn't look like anything spectacular.  The fact they delivered was the deal-breaker and I would probably order again if in the area and wanted delivery.

Someone said this place was cheap. We paid $20 for a full rack of ribs (w/c were NOT a full rack... it had 8 ribs.) So, not only was it over priced, it was false advertising.

The ribs were some of the worst i've had from a place that considered themselves a Q joint. Hard, dry... just plain terrible.

Their saving grace was the corn bread. moist and not too sweet.

Don't waste your money here. Wait till you come down the mountain and hit up Memphis Blues at one of their Vancouver locations. Hopefully, you'll catch a good batch the day/time you go.

Super casual, friendly BBQ restaurant attached to a lively bar. Really good (tender and moist and tasty) Texas style beef brisket, nice pulled pork, fantastic yam fries drizzled in balsamic reduction (yum!). Creamy cole slaw, a little too much bun on the pork sandwich, but, hey, just take the top off and eat it with a knife and fork!

Yummy! BBQ that delivers? What could be better. They can also deliver wine and beer from the store next door so if you're in no shape to drive... you can still get all the nourishment that you need.

The brisket was tasty (remember to ask for an extra side of BBQ sauce) and the pulled pork was awesome. I'm more of a fan of ribs that fall off the bone but the smoked ribs tasted good but not really my style.

Nice to get outside of the main village... less of a scene and seems like a local hangout.

I came here based on some Yelp reviews, and I saw the menu, and wasnt really in the mood for BBQ LOL. But then, something caught my eye, it was the Champ Burger, which apparently won first place in the Canadian BBQ championship, so I went with that, with a side of, yes, yam fries Balsamic reduction. With the meal you also get a fountain drink (the quality of the fountain pop was highly awesome btw) and I waited in one of the (heavy!) chairs for the burger to arrive, and about 8 mins later it came, it had Cheedar Cheese, Cream Cheese, pancietta bacon, fresh ground beef, red onion, onion sttraws, oickle, tomato, and lettuce. It was nothing short of AMAZING. Pretty much the best goddamn burger I've ever had goddamn it. And the Yam Fries? OMG, the balsamic reduction had the consistency of tar, totally sticky and gooey and you just can't stop eating them. SO DAMN GOOD. Go here, order that, thank yourself,

BBQ Bob's is a fantastic cheap and cheerful spot for amazing BBQ in a low-key setting. Bob is a renowned BBQ chef who has competed and won many competitions in this food category. His team's smoked and roasted meats will have your mouth watering.  I love the jerk chicken burger myself but if you are with a crew order one of the platters.  You get an assortment of meats, beans, cornbread and coleslaw.  Their fries and yam fries drizzled with a reduced balsamic are addictive. Last but not least DO NOT pass up the Key Lime Pie.  This is a dangerously delicious dessert that you won't want to share.
