This is my go to sushi spot
The fish here is always fresh and the portion sizes are really good.
There is a nice fish to rice ratio on the rolls, and the rice is not overly packed.
All of the fish I have had here is very good, my favorites are the wild salmon and mackerel nigiri.
It's nice that there are a lot of different combo lunches to choose from, there's pretty much something to suit any ones tastes. -

Be prepared to elbow your way past people, or if you're waiting in the super long line to have everyone bump into you or ask to go around you as you wait by the area that serves complimentary tea. It was getting quite aggravating after 10 minutes of people just pushing into you.
The food was decent. The nigri (the actual fish, not the rice) was a little too warm for my liking.
There are a TON of options and combos and specials that for a small place is overwhelming.
I might come back to try one of their Korean dishes.
Also, it's cafeteria style, which is a bonus, since you don't have to leave a tip. But come on people, clean up after yourself. -

Not the best, but not the worst. I ordered a beef udon soup and 2 kappa (cucumber) rolls. The beef udon soup was certainly delicious and filled me up. As for the kappa rolls, they were just okay. There's not much you can screw up on since it's a very simple role. - What I didn't like about the sushi was that the rice was slightly hard, which means it had probably been out for a while. My friend also let me try some of her prawn tempura, which I also really liked.
The service was fine. It's one of those places where you go up to the counter to order and they call your number when your food's ready. Considering how busy it was, the workers managed to get all of the eat-in and take-out orders out pretty efficiently. My friend and I ate at the restaurant and it was a little bit cramped since it's a small restaurant. I suppose I'd recommend coming here, but there are better sushi places in downtown Vancouver. -

I really like the sushi here, they pack each piece as full as possible and it's super tasty!

I am probably one of their more frequent customers, as I order from here at least twice a week. I always get a salmon and avacado roll and a yam and avacado roll; both made with brown rice.
Its always packed here, so definently call your order in for pick up or order online.
The fish is super fresh, the rice is perfectly cooked, and the tempura is light and delicious. I have had sushi all over the city, and this place can't be beat.
The staff is super super nice and I always enjoy seeing them.
The prices are good, and there is tons of variety.
Go give it a try! -

A good spot for sushi lunch. It gets really busy during weekdays from 12pm-1pm, but if you go at 11:30am, you should be able to snag a seat.
The portions are large and depending if you're craving Japanese or Korean food, they will have both.
You order and pay at the till and then collect your food when they call your number. Water or tea is self serve near the front. Food was cooked fairly quick and from the time I ordered until I finished my food, it only took 45mins. -

I'm well on my way to eating at every known Japanese restaurant in Vancouver! Hahaha ya right! But I am one step closer after eating here :)
Truthfully, I've been to bay sushi many times, its a convenient little Japanese restaurant that is close to...well The Bay of course, hence the name "bay sushi", or at least I assume.
They have a fairly large assortment of sushi and other Jap fare to choose from and all of it is very reasonably priced. You can have a pretty hefty meal for under 7 bucks if you go for any of the specials they have going on.
I would recommend coming here during off peak periods, like non-lunch work hour times because it gets fairly busy. Today I had a simple bento box that came with chicken teriyaki on rice, salmon and tuna sashimi, a salad and a bowl of miso soup. It was delicious! I really like how they season their chicken here, it has a very peppery taste to it which is very flavorful and different from others I've tried.
So that's like 10 Japanese restaurants down and only 999,999,989 others to try in Vancouver hahahaha.

The chef uses his iPhone & then touches the food without washing his hands!!! (For that reason I give them 2 stars!) Always check what they give you, it could be the wrong order or smaller size! They don't put Ginger in anything unless you ask for it. Their sushi & sashimi are great & fresh but horrible chicken miso ramen! It says grilled chicken, it's not! It's heavily breaded & fatty. The front desk girls are lovely and the place has potential to be a great sushi place, they just need to try a bit harder!

A really popular lunch spot Downtown. How popular you ask? Was just down there for lunch, and I bumped into 2 people I know and my companion bumped into 3.
They do a variety of Japanese and Korean food here. I've had the Sushi & Sashimi Bento box ($10 ish) before - very fresh fish. Today I had the Chap Chae ($8.50) - chewy yam noodles, lot of veggies, thought egg was overcooked and didn't care for the rice. Flavour wise, it's not the best I've had, but is alright. Portions are huge here (take-out box to the rescue!!!).
Ranks highly among Downtown lunch places given the freshness, variety, and portions. -

Stopped by here tonight since I was craving sushi. The place is small, diner-styles, but the menu is pretty straightforward since all it is is pictures on the wall with prices. Was really impressed with the value of meals here, a bento box for under $10 gets you rolls, sushi and tempura with a salad and soup. The sushi is fresh and tastes fantastic, and the portions are huge.
Tea and water is self-serve, so you can fill up on as much liquid as you want. The place gets busy quickly during the regular lunch & dinner times, but they close early (7:30pm).
Overall, this is a great place to stop by if I'm in that area of downtown and craving some sushi (it was between this or Toyama, and I think this was the better choice for value)!Listed in: Sushi!, Cheap Eats in the DT

My to-go Sushi place in Downtown!
This restaurant is a bit small and gets super crowded during lunch hours or after 5pm on weekdays.
It's great if you want something quick and yummy.
What I like about this place? Everything is fresh. The price is reasonable and worth it! They have daily specials and their customer service is awesome! They're all so nice!
Not only do they have Japanese food, they also provide Korean food as well.
I like their chirashi-don (assorted sashimi on rice) and chopped scallop rolls. =) -

I say YAY on this sushi joint. I like how they've lined up photos of what they offer on the wall to help you decide (quickly). The lunch crowd has a fast turnover rate, people seem to know what they want. There's a comfortable and efficient overall feel to the place.
Pretty sure I'll be back to try out some of you Yelpers' recommendation! -

I found my new sushi restaurant in Downtown. This place is great on the go as their name is true to their style, like a cafe. Owned by Koreans and you'll know right away as they offer different rice bowls as well as Korean short ribs.
I had a very limited sample of their food because I'm doing a health kick. I had their green salad, gomaee, agedashi tofu, and salmon/tuna sashimi. Gf had the beef udon and she enjoyed it.
Believe me my mouth was drooling watching others eat these rolls that look amazing. Can't wait to go back. -

Ever take a walk for lunch and realize that you have no idea what you'd like to eat? I took a walk down Seymour street, passed several sandwich and pizza joints, and decided that a sushi and udon combo would do the trick. Bay Sushi is small-ish, but there is ample comfortable seating if you want to stay. My california rolls were super fresh, and the beef udon was big and nicely flavoured. Not too salty and not fatty. $8.95.
I was satisfied, and will be back to try more. -

Consistently good. I've been there 3 times and enjoyed the experience. Warning - lunch hour brings long lines, but they work through them quickly. I've been searching for a downtown sushi place and I think I've found it!

2.5 stars - 3 because I just keep coming back here and that says something but 2 because it really is below average in taste and quality and that rules out so 2 it is. I really like the chirashi don. But they don't have a sashimi salad from what I can see.... or a decently priced one or something. Meh it's okay and it gets'er done.

This place is awesome for a quick lunch with really fresh sushi. You might want to time your visit to beat the lunch rush though. I ordered their 16 pcs lunch special for the day. Salmon, Tuna, Yam Avocado for $6.50. The fish just melted in my mouth. The sashimi is massive chunks of goodness. They have numerous options and combos for under $10. You order at the front counter and the service is usually quick. A good place for an everyday lunch...hmm fresh sushi. I want some now!

If you want to try and shove some of the largest pieces of sushi in your mouth, then this is the place for you! I visit Bay Sushi most weeks since it is located close to where I work. It can get super busy here during lunch so I recommend ordering ahead. They serve huge portions, have decent prices, and are super nice at the front counter. If you are looking for big sushi rolls that will fill you up, then head here.
