Cured Meats Paradise!!
This place has a large selection of all kind of cured meats from Hungarian salami (probably the best Salami I've ever had) to head cheese, and a bunch more for the most daring of carnivores.
You will get an authentic Bavarian experience when you step in the door here. The workers are so nice and when they're not interacting with customers they are speaking in German to each other it really adds to the ambiance. -

My girlfriend and I are on a cheese/meat/cracker kick and if you are looking for some delicious German meats this is the spot to get it at.
Bavarian Meat is kind of tucked away in the back of the building in Pike Place right on the main strip. Might be a little hard to find but once you do you will be introduced to all types of meat, (get your mind out of the gutter!) Everything is delicious. They provide samples, and the owners give the BEST recommendations to what ever pallet you are trying to appease.
Price is very reasonable, and the quality is superb! If you are in Pike Place pay a visit and pick up a little snack. MAJOR NOMS! -

The spicy sausage was amazing!! I should have bought more, wonderful for a quick flight back to LA! Also great with cheese from Beecher's cheese shop nearby.
Also buy a couple of beers, mmm mmmm good.
Nice service great stuff! -

Awesome deli that has a lot of cured meats, sausages, you name it! Even assorted chocolates and candies! The spicy sausage is really good here, and you can sample some of their tasty meats as well!

Ich liebe Bavarian Meat Deli...
Let me tell you why!
*The couple who runs it really are from Bayern (Bavaria). It's cute to hear them bicker auf Deutsch, fun to try to talk to them in my own broken German, and they know exactly what Im talking about if I ask for something specific. They are always friendly too!
*Meat and cheese! Cheese and meat! All awesome, all so soooooooooo good. It's really hard to go wrong with anything they carry in their deli case, but I almost always leave with a bunch of emmentaler cheese. The cute aforementioned couple also has a habit of giving you free wieners with your order too!
*Tons of chocolate. They carry like 10 different kinds of Milka bars alone plus other European brands and that in and of itself makes me happy. Also: Mozart Kugeln (best chocolate in the world imho).
*They sell Spezi. It's a weird lemon soda mixed with coke sort of drink. This is the first place in the states that I've found to sell it. Yay!
*Tons of German/Hungarian/Polish grocer goods. Importing costs make the stuff a lil pricey -- but if Im hankering for something specific they usually have it here.
*It reminds me of my host family and time in Germany. I lived with wonderful people in Bavaria, and it's nice to see other folks from there while enjoying the items that really helped opened my eyes to the world when I was a young and impressionable 16 year old.Listed in: I lub Cheese

They have a big selection of sausages! The two types we had were excellent.
They also offer a few beers and wines and German seasonings and snacks.
The guy behind the counter was funny he warned us the beers we selected were not like Budweiser. We told him we knew that's why we were buying them! -

I love Bavarian Meats The selection of salami, schinken, and other deli products is awesome. Free samples of landjaeger while you wait for the wonderful ladies to cut your order, and if you are lucky they will throw in a free wiener!!!!
This is one place I would miss the most if I ever had to leave Seattle! -

Large selection of sausages from actual Germans! Yum! Beers, snacks, candy you'd find in Germany also make this place a favorite with out of town guests and transplants. Staff is always friendly, helpful, and smiling! Yay!

The only reason this place isn't getting a 5 is because i haven't tried enough of their products yet! Their sausages are to die for and their mustard is mind blowing!!
If your ever in Pikes Place coming the Bavarian Meats is an absolute MUST! -

This gal of German descent went into this deli and was blown away by the quality of the food, and the women behind the counter were all lovely, but--why was the guy so MEAN?
I clearly stated the item I wished to buy--it was right there in the display under the glass--he couldn't find it, so he got all shirty about it and glowered at me. Even as everybody in the shop pointed to it and said its name loud and clear. He kept insisting it did not exist.
Then he rang up the price wrong and when this was pointed out to him by the nice ladies, he got all nasty with me again.
I was tempted to just leave the stuff on the counter and walk off but I was not brought up to behave that way. I meekly paid and left.
Please, be nicer to your customers. And if you don't like the crowding that occurs at your counter (even though everyone in the crowd was nice and joked about it and took turns), install a numbering system. -

SO glad I stumbled into this place on my last trip to Seattle. While the rest of my party was off exploring Pike's Place (I have been many times before), I was wandering around looking at other areas. Then I find this meat heaven...
The ladies were super nice, I got my free "veener" for the road, and got to explore the TONS of meat selections, groceries, and novelties. Can't wait to go back. -

Yum, yum, and yum!
Salami, sausages, bratwurst, bockwurst, liverwurst, weiners! This is a great place to get in touch with my German roots and revel in cured, meaty glory.
Whenever I'm at Pike Place I stop by here to pick up a few landjäger - they're dried, cured sausages that make a great handheld snack, similar to the Americanized pepperoni stick, but much, much better. The spicy ones have a nice kick to them.
There are always at least two German ladies behind the counter when I have been there. They are very fun to talk to and funny as well. They often ask if you want a free "weiner for the road" - how can I not accept? You'll leave with a smile on your face and a weiner in your hand. Yes, yes, snicker all you want, but they're delicious! -

Bavarian Meat Delicatessen is one of those nook and cranny finds in Pike Place Market. It is on the northern end of the market across from a candy stand. Inside the deli you will find a nice selection of European style meats.
It is kind of like a deli that I recently visited, Liebchen in Bellevue except that it has a bigger selection. I received the same cheery service here. And they sell imported groceries as well.
The main reason to visit are their meats which includes loads of sausages and deli meat products. Picked up a package of chicken andouille sausage ($5.99/lb.) and a half pound of mortadella ($5.99/lb.).
The sausage was really good and priced reasonably. It is bit spicy, but not overwhelmingly so. This would be a great grilling sausage over a bun or a companion with something like pasta. As for mortadella, I liked this just as much. For those who do not know what this is, it is essentially bologna by another name. They slice this really thin so it makes for great cold cuts for sandwiches.
It was a bit unexpected that they gave me a wiener to try. I am so used to boiling them that I felt really weird eating it right there. In the end, I hastened to cook it at home and have to say that it was tasty. The casing is better tasting than store varieties I think. Maybe also because it is fresh.
Along with Uli's also in the Market, Bavarian Meat Deli is one of the best places to get sausages in town. Thus providing another reason to brave the crazy crowds at Pike Place.Listed in: The Grocery List

No sooner than I walk in here does some guy at the counter ask the deli lady, "Can I get a pound of wieners?"
Do not laugh. Do not laugh. You are not seven years old. And even when you were seven years old you would get in trouble for acting so inappropriately in public. Do not laugh. Do not laugh. But he said wieners. But he said pound of wieners! Do not laugh. Do not laugh. Wieners!
Yeah, I lost it. Hahahahahasnortahahahahaha! Wieners.
Thank goodness almost everyone else in there conducted their business in German so I couldn't tell if they were saying anything else that would cause me to get kicked out of this place before I could buy my packet of CurryWurst. -

Now, I'd heard that the ladies in white at the Bavarian Meat Deli were a fantastically sweet and helpful bunch, but I was not expecting the lovely service and cheery smiles that I received when I stopped by their shop the other morning.
Talk about customer service! Not only are they helpful and kind, but after I purchased some items from the woman in white, I was given a Landjager (think pepperoni stick, but much, much better) that I polished off in about 2 minutes. Nice selection of meats (fresh & cured), sweets, condiments, candy, baked goods, and loads of other fun stuff.
Definitely pop in when you're in Pike Place next time. Old world charm just emanates from this place!Listed in: Epic FALL!, The Cured Meats, Pike Place Picks

I'm normally not a sausage person at all because it makes me think of hot dogs and those aren't my favorite either!
BUT I first heard about this wonderful place from my lovely waitress at this restaurant I had lunch at in Leavenworth's Bavarian Village. Yes, you heard right folks, the whole Bavarian Village gets their sausages from this place. My waitress said that they get ALL their sausages from here, so nothing is made up there in Leavenworth, they will just sell it to you at a higher price, that's all :)
My favorite is the Weisswurst, so tender and tasty. I know it's veal and I feel horrible for enjoying it BUT I don't eat veal any other time of the year and I have an average of maybe ONE or two of these yummy sausages per year and take my word for it, they are heavenly! I don't like sauerkraut at all but for an authentic German touch, you can certainly serve yours with a side of that and German potato salad but I even take it one more step internationally and serve the Weisswurst with Salad Olivier (Russian potato salad, that you can conveniently pick up to-go also at the market, just go to Cafe Yarmarka!!) and it makes the perfect meal everytime!
So now you know the secret, don't buy sausages from Leavenworth because they don't even make it there. They make it HERE and it's so tasty everytime. I've tried the Weisswurst, Bratwurst, Knackwurst and they're all VERY VERY GOOD. Store associates are very friendly and will explain to you what everything is and how to cook it!!
HIGHLY recommended :) -

The prices are amazingly reasonable and the selection is excellent. They make their own head cheese, liver sausage, blood sausage, and bacon with minimal additives and it tastes delicious. They also have wonderful pate and liverwurst. Their meats are about half the price of the stufff you'll find at DeLaurenti's and IMHO even more tasty. The ladies who work there are wonderful and will even throw in a few extras :D

This little shop reminded me of Leavenworth! Right down to the free samples of meat.
The store is tucked away inside the Sanitary market, almost kiddy-corner to the Piroshky Piroshky. The carry many german/bavarian specialty items, If there is something specific you are looking for, you will probably find it here.
My dad purchased some weiners from here.
The sweet lady behind the counter said, as she was wrapping them up,
"zee veeners are always good to have! Anything else?"
I will be back again sometime soon. They have German Butterkase! (most awesome havarti like creamy cheese.. buttery just like it sounds) -

Great little hole-in-the-wall German Meat Shop.
I longed for the German meats, from back home. I felt alone, in Seattle. The closest thing I could find were generic grocery store bratwurst. That was, until I accidentally discovered Bavarian Meats Delicatessen.
This shop is strange. It's a shop within a shop. It's not easy to find. You'll find it on the strip of stores, across from Pike Place Market. It's inside a dessert shop, on the left-hand side (near the end of the market).
They specialize in their hand-made sausages (which are actually fabricated at a different location), but they also offer treats from the Rheinland. There are plenty of candies and German food products in here, besides the meat.
If you're a fan of German sausages, or meat in general, give this place a visit. All of their sausages are hand-made, here, in Seattle. They often have samples (and would probably allow you to sample, if you asked). Try the Landjäger. It's phenomenal (great for camping / hiking trips). -

B-O-L-O-G-N-A!
I love bologna, not the crappy Oscar Meyer stuff that most groceries stories sell. No, I want the real thing and this is the place to get it.
This shop is a hidden one near Pike Place and carries a great assortment of German foods. They have breads, sauerkraut, pickles, candies, and cakes all from Deutsch-land . They also speak fluent German so it's great to try out what you know.
The meat case is the focal point and has quite an array of different wursts and loaves to choose from. Fresh bacon, brats, salamis, links and wursts. It can be a little confusing if you don't know what you are after. But the ladies there are always nice and willing to help out. I love the beer wurst here. Once you have something this good, you will never get bologna from a regular deli again.Listed in: Pike Place Public Market

I'm anything but German. I'm rather the polar opposite of Teutonic, other than the sturdy frame.
I love German food, though. A lot. It makes me really happy, and this place has perhaps the greatest food shop staff in the city. The fact that their food is righteously cheap, they stock a mess of proper Euro imports (no HFCS!) and they ply you mercilessly with samples, and their hot-n-spicy landjager is pretty amazing. I buy a lot of meat here, and it's cheaper and way better than the deli crap you get in the supermarket.
It's always okay to ask questions, and boy, can they pair any sausage under the sun with an appropriate beer or wine. There is also the incredible rye bread, the killer bacon, and the scent, not just of smokiness, but of what Pike Place once was and is slowly becoming again. -

Can I be adopted by the German ladies that work here please? I think if I was, I would probably be at least 50 lbs. heavier, but probably a lot happier all the time.
I love the landjaeger, they are the best cured meat in a natural casing that you will find. There is so much other stuff there though that I have yet to try but hopefully I will be able to very soon. Got some smoked cheese sausage today that my buddy and I will be cooking up for the NFL conference championship games tomorrow. I'm sure I wont be disappointed.
If you like meat, this place has gotta be as much of a must-visit as Salumi. It's gonna be quiet a bit cheaper too. Coming here every week is not out of the question for me. I just wish their German gummi candies weren't so damn expensive compared to American ones. I love those things. -

My friend and I wanted to buy some salami, so we were standing indecisively at the counter, trying to decide which type to buy. The super-cute German grandma-type came to our rescue and offered us (very generous!) tastes of all of the types. So we bought a pound of our favorite (it was VERY reasonably priced - think like 1/4 the price of Salumi) and then she threw in the heel of the salami for free! Thanks, grandma!
The place also has an awesome array of licorice (apparently Germans LOVE their licorice, second only to their love of David Hasselhoff). AND they have Kinder Eggs! If you've never had a Kinder Egg, get there now. Chocolate plus toy! -

Anywhere I see those little green labels I used to see in all the super markets I get all warm fuzzy inside. I know its not flowers, but those memories are precious and way better then anything perishable!
Plus- those ladies are nice! An offhand comment about a t-shirt led to a German conversation. Always a bonus.
AND on top of that - the products are amazing. You don't have to stop by for my personal reasons, they actually sell amazingly well-priced & tasty food products. Try the sausage- you'll love it. -

Based on service alone this place easily would get 5 stars. Add in the fact that the sausage is all hand made, delicious, and cheap and you have a really special shop.
All of the meats I've bought here have been fantastic. Plus any question you may have about preparation, or even what beers pair best with your meats are very kindly and thoughtfully answered by the two extremely helpful and kind women behind the counter.
The selection is vast, Bratwurst, Bock wurst, Knackwurst, German Salami, wieners, Prosciutto, and even English Bangers. I found it very hard not to buy more than I intended. Once I paid for my meats I was even given a wiener to snack on as I left. This place is a gem! -
Review from Jeff G.
The best Wurst in town. A real meat deli. There are so few of these around anymore. Sure, the big markets do some of this, but this place is seriously old school. The women who run the front counter are sturdy but friendly with thick German accents and wearing white spottless butcher coats. The cases are filled with Wursts, brats lanjaeger, salt cod and amazing franks. And they will let you taste as much as you need to decide what you like.
There are also shelves filled with all kinds of Eastern European specialties like soups and sauces. Virtually every time I've been in there I've met someone who gives me an interesting recipe or recommends a new item to try. To me, this is the true spirit of Pike Place. I can just imagine this is how it was back in the day when people would go shop to shop to buy their week's groceries.
It's rare that I come out of there with less than 4 or 5 pounds of meats. And my car smells soooo smoky and delicious on the ride home.Listed in: The Freshmaker, Deli Time (time for a little…

Liverwurst! OMG you guys, this place has the most bangin' liverwurst of all time. So creamy, tangy, salty... yum!
Bavarian Meats has become a regular stop for us on our grocery circuit. We love their bacon (thick sliced!)- and we are in the process of trying all of the cured meats and sausages, but there are so many- this could take awhile... Jalapeno Cheddar bratwurst is a must-try, for sure. Boyfriend really like the Landjaeger dried sausages, and the spicy ones too.
The service is quick and efficient, and they will help you make up your mind when you can't decide what to get. Lovely German ladies work the counter and always offer us a free weiner.

It really puzzles me why this place has 5 stars and is constantly on top of the list/ page in yelp.
I went there once (fooled by the yelp listing) looking for a sandwich for lunch. It's really more a deli meat place than somewhere you'd find lunch.
It's a small shop and there was one other customer. While she was chatting away with the person behind the counter, I was trying for some 5 minutes to figure out what's there for lunch. Couldn't figure it out, so I waited some more for them to finish so I can ask. That never happened.
Sorry, but I don't get it and would never waste time returning. -

Besides the comprehensive selection of the best german style sausages, cold cuts and other pork based german products what really caught my attention was the service. I went with my wife and we got a nice greeting from 3 charming ladies who were very nice and also suggested some products to us (in fact I got a winner sausage for free as a gift ).
After eat all the sausages that we got here, We realize that we do not need to go to leavenworth to get a nice german taste.
Prices are very reasonable because the product quality and if you compare all the associates expenses to get into Leavenworth (gas, etc) these prices are very inexpensive. -

It was nice to actually find Germans running a deli. It is semi reminiscent of the local Metzgerei in Schwabisch Hall where my family lives. I was able to converse with the woman, but she was not too plussed about being super helpful. Oh well! I loved the wurst selection and don't think any place in Seattle rivals it. They also have all the ingredients and unique spices for things like Cucumber Salad and Kase Spaetzle.
If you are into German Christmas cookies they have them, and all the chocolate a girl could ever ask for. Basically...you want to grill up some impressive sausage, serve it with Kraut and noodles and then bake up an Apfelkuchen, then just haul yourself down to Pike Market and visit the Bavarian Deli. -

Ich liebe wursten!
My mother was born & raised in Germany, and I lived in Germany as a child from 1970 until 1977. As well as an adult during the mid 1990's, so when it comes to German anything, I can safely say I am an expert on it. And, I love this place! The feel is very "Old School" German, plus the meat selection is incredible. I often go there and converse with the staff in German, and if they don't have what your looking for, they will "special" order something from Das Lied der Deutschen (the fatherland). I always get veil because I love to make Rouladen (or Rinderroulade), I also suggest you try the Knackwurst Sausage. DELISH!
So until we meet again! Auf Wiederschauen! Tschüs! -
