    I love Dr. Korokonai.

Princess was diagnosed with diabetes about a year ago and, it may seem silly, but I was an emotional wreck. Dr. Korokonai was patient, thorough and kind.

Before her diagnosis I was afraid to go to the vet because they're usually so judge-y about how you haven't done this-that-the other thing for your beloved friend. Not he. He complimented Princess' luxuriant coat, and made me feel like a decent pet owner. He also treated her so nicely and gently.

Princess was going in about once every two weeks and getting a blood draw. He would give me immediate feedback on her glucose numbers and call the next morning (about 8am before they opened) with detailed lab work and any changes for her insulin.
His calm manner really really helped us cope with her disease. Which, BTW! is being totally managed, and she's doing great!'

Also! he is willing to suggest naturopathic medicines if you're into that. Cool!

Also, as everyone else has mentioned, they are the most affordable vet.  I mean, I'm sure I spent a lot of money getting Princess regulated, but it would have been WAY outside my student budget at any other vet.

    I am impressed!

Thanks, once again, to Yelp!, we found great reviews here and decided to give this vet a try.

I confess, I was very demanding. I called to specifically get Dr. Koroknai to see my dog. I also contacted my previous vet to get the details (name, brand, code, dosage amount, and vaccination instructions) to relay to Dr. Koroknai's office.

They did not have the brand I wanted, or the single dosage (non-cocktail), so Dr. Koroknai went out of his way to order it! WOW! ***THUMBS UP!***

Still wary of vets, (due to one horrific previous experience - with a different vet), I had on my skeptical look the whole time, waiting to see what would happen next.

    DR. KOROKNAI
Dr. Koroknai inquired about her general health. Then he gave her a "very general" checkup, listening to her heart rate, took a look at her eyes, and weighed her. (My previous vet INCLUDED those PLUS looks at her teeth, her ears, and her anal area).

What impressed me was that Dr. Koroknai actually SHOWED me the packages of the  vaccination shots, just to prove he was indeed giving me what I had requested!
    ***TWO THUMBS UP!***

Then, he explained WHY some dogs might get bad reactions from certain  vaccinations by explaining the process and ingredients used in these vaccinations! ***ONE PAW UP!***

Next, he gave my dog her vaccination shot, and asked me to wait 10-15 minutes after, just to see if there are any negative reactions. He explained what the typical non-threatening symptoms were (lethargy, soar spot, hot temperature or fever). But just to keep her cool and give her lots of water. I did not know about the latter. ***TWO PAWS UP!!!***

So far, my dog is acting normal and is laying on the balcony sun tanning. So I guess that means we'll be back here!

    PRICE:
So unfair! Prices in Canada are 3 times MORE than the USA! What's up with that?
Also, in the US, I would ONLY get charged for what my dog actually needed. Here, you have no choice. Any visit to see the vet INCLUDES a check-up fee, on TOP of services needed. (Meaning, you can not just come in for the vaccination). Lepto shots WITH check-up fee here are $59. Bummer. I called around, and apparently, that is just the way it is in the GTA.

TIP TO VET: Hopefully the new location @ 1012 Bathurst St. is newer, cleaner, and doesn't smell like dirty dogs baking sweets. (Seriously, it smelled like pets & muffins at the same time! Great way to kill your sweet tooth). But HOORAY for Dr. Koroknai!

    Went in today.

Location is switching to 1012 Bathurst as of January (exact date to be confirmed, though).  Same hours, vets, service.

    They carry Medi-Cal animal products.

Others waiting were friendly, sociable.  Dr. Attila Koroknai was great with our dog, and pointed out a few things about his gums and general health.

The exam cost $48, took about 15+ minutes, and included the anal expression.

Looking forward to our next visit !   :)

    I'm amazed.

Got my pooch all his shots for the year, plus a complete physical exam for less than $70.  My current vet quoted me $185 for an exam, plus the cost of meds.

The office staff were all very pleasant people, including the Doc.  We were seen quickly and were in and out within 20 minutes of my arrival.

Other than the strange African animal themed photography, this place is
    nothing short of amazing.

EDIT: I mentioned to the Doc that I wanted my dogs anal glands expressed, but by the end of the appointment but he and I'd forgotten about it. I just received a call from him saying that I could come back anytime and have it done for free! Wow. 5 stars indeed!

Went to this clinic again this Saturday morning and the doc was seemingly quite a bit better than the first time, however it was unfortunately too late to take care of the cat.

After spending over $100 with taxes last night at an emergency clinic to come out with nothing but an estimate of $1000 to $2000 + tax to leave him overnight, m'lady and I brought her cat to this clinic first thing in the morning. He was able to tell right away that a tumor broke off and blocked the functions of the kidney or liver (can't remember which of the two they mentioned).

The reason that I'm removing a star from this review is because the last time we went to the clinic, the doc (that time it was the same one as the first time) was unable to tell what was going on with the cat, and just gave him some more shots which only helped him a bit temporarily, following which they didn't answer their phones a few days later.

Nevertheless, the experience we had today was really good, as this was the 4th doc we saw, and he was able to pin-point the issue and give us options right away (operating & drugging him, or putting him down, to which we unfortunately decided that it was best to do the latter).

This place looks very no-frills when you walk in, but the reception is very nice and the service is excellent.

My cat normally hates going to the vet but Dr. Koroknai (the husband, I think it's a husband and wife team?) has a way with animals. He is very pleasant to talk to and my cat did not shed or hide in his carrier (like he does with other doctors).

A few days later, I dropped off my cat for a tooth extraction at 8 am and they called at 3 in the afternoon to pick him up after the surgery. I was worried about my cat, but once we brought him home he acted like nothing usual even happened (even though he just had a fang removed). His recovery was fast and he seemed to enjoy the wet food we picked up at the hospital for him to eat post-surgery.

Their prices are very reasonable so I think I will take my cat in for more periodic checkups from now on.
